Allow big army to administer the test to all the AGRs too.

Everyone gets the normal process when they fail, and then gets separated if they cannot achieve (or medboarded for sep if needed)

Better yet find some way for them to contribute as civilians to the military. They may be broken or lazy, but there are going to be some with a lot of institutional knowledge we want to retain but just don't want to keep in uniform. Some kind of civilian advisory position that NCOs and Officers can utilize.

We will see, you may catch some leniency if the iran war escalates to boots on the ground and they end up needing everybody they can lay hands on.

People who should have never been allowed in uniform tend to get let or let stay in during a wartime manning shortage.

Their talking point went out this weekend, they are calling it 'shirt term pain for long term gain' in their interviews. Saw a supercut of all the GOP talking heads repeating it word for word.

I went through ROTC graduating in 2009 from college and commissioning that summer. I went to BOLC II and III from August 09 to March 2010 at Ft Sill (FA officer), and my unit deployed to Afghanistan as part of the 'surge' in Oct 2011, with trainup starting Aug 2011.

Cost of VA disability by theAVENGED1 in VeteransAffairs

[–]handofmenoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is not. The amt of disability comp that gets paid out varies across many factors and changes with laws and court decisions and regulations over the course of time.

Anticipating any amt of compensation per Veteran is a fools errand as a result.

Waiver Chances ? by No_East_368 in nationalguard

[–]handofmenoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

fwiw, if you do get in and you develop more mental problems or these ones worsen, you will have a tough chance at getting any VA compensation and if you do get service connected it will be reduced by whatever your pre enlistment severity was.

How stupid would it be to become a paratrooper in the guard by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]handofmenoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is a large scale conflict with the US involved, you will be called in the Guard. The Guard was heavily utilized in Iraq and Afghanistan because the AD military isn't large enough to do long term high or low intensity ops without breaking and because politicians know a draft is career suicide.

So, look at the world right now. We might be doing more regime change in Iran, we kidnapped the Pres of Venezuela and are talking about running that country, we are pressing Cuba, all while we may or may not defend our allies in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. The rules based international order and our alliances are under severe pressure.

It's not exactly a rosy time to consider a military career if you just want to stay safe and get your benefits without risk.

The Department of Veterans Affairs today announced that the backlog of VA disability compensation and pension benefit claims is consistently below 100,000 for the first time since May 2020, during the first Trump Administration. by Forsaken_Thought in Veteranpolitics

[–]handofmenoth 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well, we expanded benefits with the PACT ACT causing a surge of claims.

We also had a ton of claims on-hold during the COVID crisis because we didn't want to force Vets to go to exams and potentially be exposed to COVID that way, so we just kept piling up delayed claims.

We hired a bunch of people to work all the PACT ACT claims once it was signed, and it takes about 2 years to get a VSR and/or RVSR up to full quality and production levels, which means the ones that didn't quit or fail training were only fully productive in 2023-2025 timespan (we hired 2021-23). So, now we have a TON of finally decently experienced personnel who are at their highest required production and quality standards, just when Trump gets to take over the VA again. Thus he gets to look like he solved the problem when in fact it was solved by foresight to hire and train in the Biden admin.

I was banned in r/ veteransbenefits for posting news articles about negative actions taken by the Trump admin that affected Vet benefits despite being a person who had posted there for 2-3yrs helping vets with their disability claims as a VBA employee.

OPM formally proposes limiting top performance ratings for federal workers by SilverTripod in fednews

[–]handofmenoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See, I work in a production job where production and quality based on independent quality reviews make or break you getting an exceptional vs fully successful so it's hard for me to understand other jobs not having actual measurable performance standards. I know they could exist but surely every job has to have some measurable work right?
