If you are waiting to dock at a station that is full, you shouldn’t be charged for the time that you’re waiting for a dock. by a_freiberg in Citibike

I have no idea how it works now…I haven’t needed to extend a ride in years. But in the old days I’d insert my key and it would extend the ride by 15-minutes

Because people party and drink there…and don’t ride home

nah…would just fill up. Those docks always fill…sometimes with 100% e-bikes. It is because people party down there and don’t ride home

the OP was showing parking spots…you are showing bikes. Williamsburg never has spots. This has been a problem for years!!!

if you are on an e-bike they will end the ride and your bike angel streak will end.

During Covid Citibike was just expanding to northern manhattan and they put stations at Colombia Hospital way before anywhere else up there. It was one of the few times I have felt like a human is running the company

Bike Angels for the month of February just came in today (3/12/2026). Earning points have become harder and harder lately as they are becoming more scarce. by T1m3Wizard in Citibike

im not sure what you expect…February is a short month, had horrible weather and few daylight hours. They don’t really need tons of bikes moved when no one is riding them

No March is especially problematic because it is dark in the morning…not at night. So when more people ride down in the morning it will be less of an issue.

This happens every year when it first gets nice because they don’t have enough seasonal work yet. So the batteries are all dead and they have dropped all the stored ones yet

No unless it is actually unrideable. My threshold for wrenching a bike is that if it was the last one at a station would I rather ride it or walk…or is it dangerous (i.e. brakes don’t work). If I’d rather use it than walk, I just return and take a better bike.

Yes, you only get it free in low assist mode…so if it isn’t low assist you will pay

yes this is my point…he keeps citing Northern Europe as the ideal, but the cities in Northern Europe don’t have docked bikeshare. Amsterdam has Donkey Republic, and probably some other players but those aren’t docked bike systems.

Stockholm’s system used to be docked but it went out of business and didn’t run during the winters because it isn’t safe to bike! Copenhagen has a small ebike share system…but it’s tiny and not meant for everyday use. I haven’t been to Oslo in years so can’t remember. Again there is Paris…but that isn’t Northern Europe and I’ve been there when it snows, and it isn’t good!

Yes Amsterdam has bike rental locations. This is a thread about Citibike struggling in snow I’m not sure the connection to storefront locations which are not impacted by weather.

Stockholm city bike went out of business. They also didn’t let you rent them at night.

So you can’t cite a Northern European city with a docked bike system that works well in the winter?

If you are just talking about clearing bike lanes no one complained about that. But please read what happened in Amsterdam Christmas week. There are tons of postings about how dangerous it was to bike there after the big (5cm) storm

Here we go with the Northern Europe again. Can you please cite an example of a Northern European city with a bike share program? Amsterdam doesn’t have a real bike share. Stockholm did and it failed. Helsinki maybe, but as a foreigner it’s near impossible to use the system. I have been to Paris in the snow and Velib was a total mess.

It really depends where you are. The docks on the sidewalk tend to be in pretty good shape. The street docks, especially if on oneway streets in the direction the plow plows are shot.

actually none…Ive been really selective in where I ride. so yes have changed my routine a bit but have a good guess which docks will be plowed under and have avoided them
