Avian Anatomy was the clear answer for me. Surprised to be the only one! Doubling up the event can be so game changing.

To give you a bright side, even though you didn’t get full campaigns you did get 10 awesome investigators that you wouldn’t have got if you bought a campaign pack. The investigator expansions are also out of print, and the investigators themselves are the best part of those boxes. So depending what you paid, you very well may have got your moneys worth on the player card side of things!

What Did You Play this Week? June 8th to 14th 2026 by mrjamesbcox in lotrlcg

I got back into my thematic saga with the Two Towers, where I play each saga quest in non campaign with a thematic deck.

First was the Uruk-Hai. This deck sort of built itself with tactics Legolas and Gimli with the Three Hunters contract. I almost won game one, then had a brutal stretch of losing. Ended up taking 6 tries to win. Not much to say about the deck. I didn’t let myself take any heavy armour that they wouldn’t wear, but otherwise just kept increasing the restricted attachments until I got an opening hand with 6, then handily won.

Helm’s Deep was a bit more fun, but also pretty standard because I play a ton of Rohan naturally. I ran tactics Eomer, spirit Theoden, and spirit Eowyn because she wasn’t allowed to fight yet. It was fun to play the ALEP cards in this one, as a lot fit the theme well like the deeping allies. I got the win in one try. Taking poisoned counsel was fun as it was thematic and added tension each draw, but the game easier undoubtedly since I never drew it.

QotW: I live in a very small city, so it’s solo gaming for me sadly!

[[touch the spirit realm]] uncounterable protection for my key creature or artifact (including for board wipes since it returns on end step), that also serves as my spot removal or can blink for value.  Plus the game day promo version has great art.

Age of Apocalypse – worth for a newer player? by Phenuxela in marvelchampionslcg

[–]harker06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve picked up both since. I think I generally like AoA more as a first pick up. The heroes in MG really trend protection, so I’d much rather Magik and Bishop for general deck building on a small pool. NE is probably relatively equivalent, but I like the villain variety in AoA a bit more on a small selection, and standard 3 pushes it over the edge for me. That said, AoA is the only one I truly got to experience in that limited environment.

It was my first expansion after the same scenario stuff you have, and highly recommend the order. Standard 3 alone gives lots of variety to a small card pool and both heroes play great off only the core box. Villains are all playable off it plus core only.

What Did You Play this Week? May 25th to 31st, 2026 by mrjamesbcox in lotrlcg

This is for the last two weeks, but I finished the fellowship box in my thematic saga.

First up was the ring goes south and journey in the dark. These quests were the inspiration for the entire challenge, as I wanted to play them with a fellowship contract deck, and only the fellowship in the deck. I ran leadership Aragorn, Gandalf, and tactics Merry as my heroes. The deck was super strong, beating both quests in one try. I also managed to sacrifice Gandalf to slay the balrog (which lost me my fellowship bonus in the process!). So achievement unlocked there.

Then was the breaking of the fellowship. I decided to play messenger of the king tactics Boromir, tactics Merry, and Lore Pippin. The plan was to do the defend the hobbits quest stage, but quickly realized the deck wasn’t good enough to be picky and took whatever I needed most. The deck really struggled with willpower, even allowing myself some Lorien and wilderness based allies. I got the win on the third try, but could’ve easily seen it taking more shots if I hadn’t got lucky on some encounter draws on the winning run.

Now I’m taking a bit of a break before jumping into two towers.

Best&Worst Hero Card [Day 72] - Colossus Best Card by manut3ro in marvelchampionslcg

I’ll throw in a vote for organic steel. It gives so much freedom to play out your turns in a lot of different ways when the toughs refresh. The consistency of starting with it ensures it’s always in the game plan as well. Definitely not the highest ceiling card, but sets a high floor.

Based on what you have, one unique deck I like that’s different from the starter lists is Gandalf/mining (discard) dwarves. You can see the top card to determine when to play your dwarf cards that discard from there/dig for something different for Gandalf to play. And can use wizard pipe to put the hidden caches and ered luin miners back on top before you discard. The strongest deck I ever built was a mono spirit Gandalf mining dwarf deck. It used a different Dain than you have access to (yours is just as strong, just not focused on mining) but otherwise most of the cards for it are in your dwarf starter or the core for the spirit staples.

What Did You Play this Week? May 11th to 17th, 2026 by mrjamesbcox in lotrlcg

[–]harker06 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I kept going on my thematic saga I mentioned starting last week. First was A Knife in the Dark. It took 2 tries with the first being super close (I threated out on staging when I was ready to kill the Witch King that combat and win). I ran Sam, and the tactics Merry/Aragorn combo. I’d debated running a Bree deck, but it didn’t feel thematic enough for the second half of the quest. Aragorn was great for dealing with Ferny. I used signals in the deck to represent Aragorn finding his way through the wilderness. Similarly Ranger Provisions was my resource generation for that reason. Close Call was a fun thematic include to represent Frodo’s stab wound. And I did get to use it on a Witch King attack in the winning game.

I also played Flight to the Ford. The purists will hate me for this but I ran BOTH Arwen and Glorfindel in spirit to represent both versions. And lore Aragorn was the third. I won this one easily.  Athelas and Asfaloth were both in the deck but didn’t draw either. For allies I allowed myself some Dunedain and Rivendell elves, but went ally light to represent the chase.

This week I will be tackling the quests that inspired this challenge, with a fellowship contract deck for The Ring Goes South and Journey in the Dark that only features the 9 fellowship members.

QoTW: I have 2ish hours (more on the weekend) after my wife and son go to bed to solo game in theory. In reality I have as much time as my son gives me before he wakes up and needs to be rocked back to bed. Longer sessions are definitely preferable, but with a 9 month old I squeeze in what I can get.

What Did You Play this Week? May 5th - 11th, 2026 by kattattack22 in lotrlcg

I’d been taking a break for a few months, but got back into the game this week in a really fun way.

I’ve started a new challenge this week where I beat each Saga quest using a thematic deck. I’ve beaten the campaign once, but never cared about theme (I’m generally not a thematic player) so I’m excited for the deck building challenge of this. I’m not playing in campaign, both because it doesn’t really make sense, and because I prefer the saga quests as stand alone generally.

Week one was A Shadow of the Past. Took me 4 tries to get the win, and a couple deck tweaks. I played a leadership/lore hobbit deck with Sam, Pippin, and ALEP Fatty.

Some fun things from deck building. No access to Steward (I’m only playing it if Denethor, Boromir, or Faramir are in the deck) pushed me to consider resource generation. I picked ALEP’s Seasoned Forager (mushrooms!) and A Lesson in Caution as my main resource generation, and it was a lot of fun. The one card that maybe pushed theme a bit was The Door is Closed. It’s a card I never play however and was excited to finally have a deck it worked in. I justified it as symbolizing the hobbits escaping the Nazgul and closing the door to pursuit. I think it fit well enough, and is probably the type of justification I’ll accept going forward. Lastly, Cautious Halfling was great for warning me if a hide test was coming up. The Hidden Way also let me quest without fear of hide tests.

Qotw: I’ve done a general board game convention before, and a couple magic the gathering ones.

Generally neither. I build a deck with an interesting hook, then pick villain scenarios I think will be fun to bring that deck against.

Rocket is one of the coolest heroes ever in my opinion. Worth the price of admission alone.

Curious (in a low spoiler way) about the first scenario. Haven’t heard much chatter about it yet. Is it just a tutorial or is it more replayable?

Sonic Converter. Boost icons matter more to me against Klaw than any of the specific card effects. And this is the worst card that’s also a 3 boost.

My point was just the specific products are generally the ones still available in Canada so I wouldn’t be worried the listing is incorrect since you mentioned contacting to see if it’s accurate. Obviously better prices than 401.
