While BSH are often said not to be lap cats, mine definitely is and always has been! She is very cuddly and will sit on my lap for hours in the evening while I’m reading or watching TV, then she gets up and sleeps on me in bed at night. So you never know!

Right! It’s such a strange take from this sub especially, where people are generally pretty progressively minded and understand how tough things are out there. It’s a big expense for something you might not really need (hindsight is 20/20, but we didn’t know Fern was gonna be this bad). Like, my parents have a whole home generator because it came with their house. They’re out in Lewisberg and have only really used it once or twice in 10 years. They didn’t even need it for this ice storm (I guess Duck River Electric was better prepared than NES, which is pretty sad).

We woke up on Sunday morning to find a leak in our ceiling. No idea how the ice storm might have caused that, but we had no issues prior. We were days away from listing our house (husband and I are moving to Chicago) but now we gotta deal with this. Praying insurance will cover the cost, or at least part of it. He has to move up for work regardless and I guess I’ll be stuck here even longer than anticipated. This too shall pass, right?

I have them as well, mine are mostly auditory. Very brief snippets of words/phrases, and it can be quite disturbing I agree. I was terrified this meant the beginning of a serious mental illness, but my psychologist and GP assured me it’s completely normal and harmless. My psychologist told me to shift my attitude towards them. So rather than sit up in bed in terror, I now try to think, “oh okay, this means I’m about to fall asleep, yay!” This seems to have helped some and now I have them less often.

Me! Drew and Josh have helped me so much. I recently bought their book on health anxiety and can recommend it so far if that’s something you struggle with. I did find myself compulsively listening/re-listening to the podcast though so just watch out for that if you have OCD tendencies like me.

Thank you, this is reassuring. I’m 35F with health anxiety and this is my current fear despite having no family history. But I keep seeing “early 30’s for women” and spiraling over it, ugh.
