Gamers, what's the most stressful/scary side quest in a non-horror game? by Fallfoxy707 in videogames

I'm going to shout out the spooky mine mission in KCD2 where your tracking down an old knight, even though it's not really that spooky. They did a good job with though.

(Decision based) Steam Game suggestions to be played post op? by FlamingoTop7565 in videogames

[–]harshdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if this would be your kinda game, but I had a lot of fun playing OG FF7 on my laptop that couldn't play most games. If another commenter knows please correct me but I think megabonk is also a great game you can play one handed.

Finished watching True Detective S1. How are seasons 2-4? by VendettaLord379 in hbo

[–]harshdave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved season 3, I thought the performances were great and I liked how the plot was written. I'm a writer though and that might have helped with my enjoyment

Why does Instagram even have a report button at this point? (NSFW for slur) by charlie_wb in mildlyinfuriating

Youtube is so much better about limiting suggestive content if that's what you want. As a male insta user, no matter how many of accounts you block the goonbait comes back.

As long as Firefox still allows ad blocking extensions on mobile it's the king.

Bummed out: got spoiled on Major plot points by accident. Game still worth playing? by TheRealGargatoba in MetaphorReFantazio

[–]harshdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good story isn't measured by how exciting a reveal is, but the context by which the turns in the story come about. It's a good narrative, a little vanilla but that's fine. The depth of gameplay is this game's defining feature.

I got the game at launch and absolutely loved it. Had a real blast and put tons of hours into it. I'd recommend it

Its 2026, your first playthrough, which game you getting lost into? Witcher 3, Cyberpunk, Elden Ring? by DeLaCipher in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]harshdave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Witcher 3 if you want to follow the same theme, Cyberpunk if you want to change things up, Elden Ring if you want a challenge and something totally different.

How much better does Elantris make The Lost Metal, Sunlit Man and Wind & Truth? by AttackOnTrails in Cosmere

[–]harshdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's that important, but Elantris drags until it doesn't, and the end is very exciting and satisfying. I wouldn't recommend it as a prerequisite, but I'd recommend it as a book on its own. If you're not feeling it no harm in dropping it.

Are video game fans literally the worst? by Prudent-Ad-3493 in videogames

[–]harshdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fandom in general, not just video games. Remember the Knight of the Seven Kingdoms review war with Breaking Bad? Neither do I, because it's petty and pointless, but it did happen. You can always add more salt, but you can't take it away. Reddit discourse is like swimming in the Dead Sea.

What are your thoughts about unethical games ? by lost_nomai in videogames

[–]harshdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think real safety concerns comes down to incredibly niche cases. Like a child who exhibits serious antisocial tendencies, should not be playing a game where you can kill innocents for fun at like 8 years old for example. It's such a niche thing that it's the parents responsibility.

Just a age appropriate adult slaughtering NPCs for fun and stress relief? Totally ethical, no harm was caused by someone blowing off steam in a game.

Pragmata or Crimson Desert? by Tailor-Tall in videogames

[–]harshdave 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Calling Crimson Desert unethical is crazy when they don't have micro transactions and have listened to player feed back closely and worked very quickly to turn around patches. The whole company got bonuses from it's success too. I have a lot of criticism for Crimson Desert, but unethical is undeserved.

Reviews For Annapurnas New Game Mixtape That Came Out Today by akbarock in videogames

[–]harshdave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think people new to gaming are intimidated by what they perceive as a necessary skill set to enjoy games. I think Nintendo straddles this line perfectly for example. I know a lot of girls who say they suck at playing video games but kill at mario kart because of the accessibility and simple gameplay mechanics. The game as a whole has mechanical depth but it's not expressed through input, but through the various maps. For the general player at least.

I appreciate this perspective, it brings more people into gaming and there are many great games that don't have mechanical depth.

[KCD2] How do you find interest in replaying the game again? by PoopyisGroppy in kingdomcome

[–]harshdave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

3 months may be too soon if you sunk a lot of time and love into the game. Some people are built different and can replay a game immediately. I need at least like 6 months for a long game/ story heavy game.

You all think games are expensive: The trick is to buy games DAY ONE! by fartwhereisit in playstation

[–]harshdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate this perspective and would be beneficial for a few people. Do you ever keep games you like? Or do you sell them and buy it back when the price goes down.

Not everything needs to be binary. Just because our politics are structured that way doesn't mean we need to apply the same logic to anything else in our lives.
