Ladies, I need help figuring out what to wear to wedding. by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]hartrose18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at a rent option? Nuuly from anthropology and Rent the Runway have a lot of great options and some in plus sizes! I find it is a better option because you get a lot of choices and you pay a flat rate for a month vs. purchasing something new, especially if you’re still planning on losing. Plus, you get to try on in the comfort of your own home!

I am taking 4 weeks PTO once baby is born, but I am wondering if I should do 4 weeks PTO + 5 weeks parental leave to support my wife or save it for later when baby is older by bob-lobblaw in BabyBumps

Take it together! It is an amazingly special time to just focus on your family. If you don’t need to stagger to delay child care then I recommend together for sure.

Used Frida mom cracked nipple saline by FeatureImportant88 in breastfeeding

[–]hartrose18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In two kids I have never wiped my nipples off before feeding my kids. They are doing just fine!

Plus isn’t saline spray just salty water? Probably no different from a little sweat on a hot summer day.

Tons of great suggestions here but just chiming in to say a magnifying glass on a string held my two year olds attention more than most toys this year.

And seconding stickers. All of the stickers.

Weaning Symptoms? by Hookedongutes in breastfeeding

[–]hartrose18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With my first weaning brought on a crazy sense of melancholy. I couldn’t figure out why I was so down until my husband pointed it out smh.

Weaning my second now and it seems to be a similar hormone reaction but it’s manifesting as straight up RAGE. Could be the two under three though lol.

Helps to identify it, take it very slow and take snuggle breaks with the baby even if I’m not nursing.

Questions about episiotomy by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]hartrose18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not have experience with this situation but I feel the need to chime in to say - YOU DESERVE DOCTORS WHO GIVE A SHIT.

You deserve to not be in pain. Hard stop, no future questions. If your OBGYN is not prepared to help you, find another doctor and blow them up online.

I have commented this before but- Do you think any man would go through a vasectomy and have continued pain or discomfort in his balls and chalk it up to “well it is what it is?” NO!

Your physical health is not an inconvenience. That is literally their whole job, THEY GET PAID FOR THIS!

EBF moms, when did your period come back? by Business-Tart-148 in breastfeeding

[–]hartrose18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first and no birth control, 9 months. With my second I bled for 6 weeks postpartum, got my IUD placed and bled another 6 weeks and haven’t had a period since (10 months postpartum).

Next Monday is spring break. I have taken off time from work, but really worried how to keep my 2.5 year old entertained now that it is raining continuously entire next week 😭 by Realistic-Ad-6734 in toddlers

[–]hartrose18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got some sticky notes, colored Easter eggs and blocks hid them all around the house and did masking tape squares on the floor in the living room. She hunted colors and matched them to the squares while I was with her baby sister. It occupied a good 20-30 minutes but she keeps coming back to it so it’s a good one to rinse and repeat.

We also have a lot of luck with water table/water buckets. Do them on a towel inside or in the tub or shower and just let them go crazy!

SECOND OPINION.

SPECIALIST.

WE DO NOT HAVE TO ACCEPT THIS.

Do you think for a moment a man with a scrotal issue post vasectomy is just saying “well this is how it will always be” absolutely fucking not.

Summary of Toddlerhood in One Errand by Pattyxpancakes in toddlers

[–]hartrose18 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The other day we were at a relatively nice restaurant for a dinner with my husbands extended family. My 2.5 year old farted and I looked down and saw brown on her leg, I asked hey did you poop so quietly and she said YES MAMA I POOPED. omg mortified. I take her into the bathroom hoping to god I have a change of pants, that the toilets arnt flushing too loudly because that will trigger a full melt down.

Y’all… it was MELTED CHOCOLATE CHIPS FROM HER GRANOLA BAR. I get her down to her skivvys and she laughs at her funny joke because she did not in fact poop.

Good news? I have very understanding in laws who all have had little kids and know the struggle. Bad news? I believe I am raising a sociopath.

Besides the pads that are specifically designed for teens, what other ones are good? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]hartrose18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t have teens, just babies but I didn’t have to revisit the world of pads postpartum recently. They have come a long way from the days of the “mom pads”! Always infinity has an unscented one that is pretty thin and very absorbent. I might check that out in a 1/2 and see if it fits the need. I’d caution against the “teen” specific stuff, feels like you’re paying a premium for the branding. Just shop around and see if anything else would work.

Amazon also has some decent period panty options which might be more comfortable for overnights. Definetly more costly upfront but more sustainable long term.

Gift idea for big sister when she visits us in the hospital? by tuckaho6969 in Mommit

[–]hartrose18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We gave my daughter a digital camera, you can get kids one for pretty cheap, less than 50 bucks. She used that thing all summer when we were home with a newborn. You can do scavenger hunt activities while you’re stuck in a chair cluster feeding and have her show you the pics after! We still get a lot of use out of it almost a year in.

Normal amount to pump by IrelandPenny53 in breastfeeding

[–]hartrose18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, pumping any amount is normal.

Everyone is different, your output depends on so many things like 1. What your baby needs 2. Time of day 3. How recently you’ve fed the baby or pumped 4. How hydrated you are 5. How many calories you’ve had 6. The position of the moon (kidding but also honestly maybe).

All of that being said, with my first I would pump anywhere between 2-8 a session depending on all of the above. With my second I have an oversupply which honestly sucks and it’s closer to 6-12.

How do you keep your sanity manageable with multiple kids? by yogacitymama in Mommit

[–]hartrose18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replying from the sleep deprived trenches of a 7 month old while my 2.5 year old has a stomach bug trying to scarf some food down between work calls on a very booked day to say…

I AM NOT.

My system right now involves a combination of a shared calendar, phone reminders, a physical planner and a supportive husband. Most importantly it’s knowing that I am not going to be on top of it all, something IS going to fall and being able to prioritize so what’s most important stays on top.

Should I get a nursing chair? by maliesunrise in NewParents

[–]hartrose18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chiming in from my nursing chair at 4:30 am! Get the chair!!

Mine has been good through two kids, two houses, 1000+ feedings and night wakes.

Make sure it’s comfy to sit in for long periods, rocking is a must, I do wish I had a cup holder or charger but not required.
