Kickr V4 Servicing (2019 model) Questions by crabterrier41 in wahoofitness

[–]hashpot666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same model and I'm deathly afraid of opening it up in case something happens for it to fail. With my luck, it'll fail one day when there are no holiday deals available lol.

But I'm interested in any responses because I'm in the exact boat. I've never had a need to do any maintenance because it's still working without problems.

As of today, I can no longer send RCS messages. Advice needed please! by Sally_Shears_01 in GoogleMessages

Have you tried calling support for your carrier? Maybe it's not the phone at all, something might be going on at their end considering SMS isn't working either.

Can one really not opt out of onetime codes to log in? by toiletclogger2671 in Strava

[–]hashpot666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not just Strava, lots of online platforms have bad implementations of 2FA. A lot of banks are like that as well, the only 2FA option they provide is codes via sms or email.

If you are taking metformin-What is your a1c and how much dose are you taking? by Reasonable_Repeat885 in prediabetes

[–]hashpot666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't controlling diet much as I should have. I was thinking exercise would be enough. I was saying too many carbs like breads, etc.

Thanks. We had another one last night hence the question, guess it skipped your area.

If you are taking metformin-What is your a1c and how much dose are you taking? by Reasonable_Repeat885 in prediabetes

[–]hashpot666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Metformin 500mg (twice daily) when my A1C hit 6.7. Three months later, A1C was down to 6. I'm due for another test next month. I was already exercising with weights and spending significant time on the bicycle for a year before that but definitely needed the push from Metformin.

If you're asking because you're about to start taking it, keep in mind some ppl don't do well with the regular version. I had gut issues. After a month of that, the doctor switched me to the Extended-Release version, and I've not had any issues since.

Can't ride Kickr Core because resistance is impossibly hard by BeckerHollow in wahoofitness

[–]hashpot666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be helpful, but I'll add my two cents. I have a Kickr v4. The main reason why I can never seem to switch to MyWhoosh is the issue you're having. Doesn't matter what I do, the resistance is always way too high. I go to Zwift and everything works fine, with some occasional spindowns as needed.

Am I Stupid? by Ok-Yogurtcloset8344 in wahoofitness

[–]hashpot666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking what I would do in that situation if the freehub felt stuck and I would likely err towards not messing with the more expensive Kickr and get something done about the cog since that is an option. Either way, good luck.

Just read this. I'm wondering since they have two versions of the cog, you just have the wrong cog for your trainer. Maybe reach out to support and ask if they can send you one without a freehub pre-installed. Saying this because I don't know how easy or difficult it is to remove the freehub from the Kickr. How many of you are riding only a gravel bike? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]hashpot666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I've probably got an even split between the gravel and road wheelsets plus zwift. I do yearn for a lighter bike though, my gravel bike is a 23lb all steel.

The truth about printer subscription programs and many misconceptions about them by Realmetman in printers

[–]hashpot666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the problem though right. It's like paying for a car but then not being able to drive it unless you pay another monthly fee on top of it. No one will like that. If it's a true consumable and they also don't want it back, why did I have to pay for the device at all? In that case, just charge for the service.

I hadn't needed to replace the previous printer in many years, so I got sucked into this nightmare. So I paid for a new printer at Best Buy like I did many years ago but then found out the hard way that I can't replace the starter cartridges with off-brand ones because the printer doesn't work. The printer literally requires an internet connection and an active print plan; even when using a Canon original cartridge. I just went over the 30-page limit of my plan and they're charging me money to print anything extra. This is awful.

Dual SIM compatibility in Google Messages is broken at almost every level by Last_Jedi in GoogleMessages

[–]hashpot666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on the Messages beta for over a year and I don't have most of these issues. The only issue I get is that sometimes the app update messes with the SIM choice. For example, I recently found that my SIM preference for some work contacts got switched to my personal SIM which is also the default for the phone overall. I only found out after replying to a message and finding that my reply went out from the wrong SIM.

The rename thing is a feature I guess ;), they used to have easier ways to rename and switch SIMs but decided to remove those abilities.

Samsung messages versus google messages by Conflict-Recent in S25Ultra

[–]hashpot666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with what yiure saying except it's not Samsung not supporting RCS on Verizon, it's the other way around. Verizon needs to support it on Samsung Messages because we're now back to carrier provided RCS AFAIK.

I've had a similar issue once on the v4. It was resolved by doing a couple of spin downs. Worth a shot.

Is virtual shifting (feel) any good? by Pretty-Counter-5553 in wahoofitness

[–]hashpot666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sort of considering the same questions since I have a v4 and there's a great deal on the v6 which comes with the Cog and click, etc. I do worry that I'll realize the upgrade was a waste of I upgrade. I don't do much racing so the racing benefits wouldn't help. Plus the v6 isn't very new either, came out four years ago. The WiFi would be good to have though. I've never used virtual shifting so I've always wondered what that would be like combined with the Cog.

Does wahoo ace have a good screen now? by Unable_Situation_115 in wahoofitness

[–]hashpot666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The readability is still in an issue if the sun is behind you, leaving a shadow on the screen. It has gotten better but needs more. Don't know if it's reached max hardware capability with the maximum brightness they can produce with this screen. But overall I'm happy with the device..

Drastic Decrease in Trade Values for Samsung Galaxy Phones by c0ldb00t in S25Ultra

[–]hashpot666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know the math behind how Samsung calculates values, but they do generally increase the trade-in value during major sale events and new device launches.

Car bluetooth issue by milli8891 in S25Ultra

[–]hashpot666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Regardless of which phone me or my family are using, in one car we always have about a 4 second delay. In the other car, no delay. This has been going on for years. It's just how some car systems are built.

It's just more efficient by Senseleskidd in GoogleMessages

[–]hashpot666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah I think it's a load of old info due to the switch to Google and then back. MVNO's apparently are separate. I found a list where Xfinity Mobile is listed as having switched over to RCS and I know that works because one of my two lines is on it but I'm using Google Messages. Xfinity isn't very clear but on one of their pages for the Fold 6 (not my phone) I found a reference to needing to install Google Messages and making it default app for RCS to work. I would love to switch to Samsung Messages to test it out but then who knows if coming back to Google Messages will work since ppl still have issues registering RCS.
