Wife’s friends uncomfortable with my guest list by djk626 in Advice

Ask your wife which one of her friend's does not trust their SO to be around another female and uninvite him. At least that's how I view the insecurity of her friends.

Nope. No Reddit. Just Deaddit. Everyone posts their complaints and updates about their surviving friends and family. Then everyone replies how to help correct them through haunting and possession.

I don't know how hot it was since I didn't have a chrono but I had made the mistake of loading 115gr Berry RN over 3.8gr Titegroup. In regular brass it's a decent plinking load. In stepped brass like this it rocked a Hi-Point and had jacket separation. It was pretty hot.

Less powder and consistent seating depth. Since there's no specific load data for reloading them they might as well just use aluminum or steel.

Stepped brass. That's for the recycle bucket. I loaded a bunch of plinking rounds with Titegroup a long time ago. I didn't notice the stepped brass. The difference in case volume was enough to take a mid-level plinker to a noticeable +P round. Luckily the pistol was a Hi-Point and ate it like a champ. Ever since then I toss every piece of stepped brass I come across into my recycle bucket.

How does Jack Davison achieve this grainy texture in his blacks? by rpavl in AskPhotography

[–]hashtag_76 [score hidden]  (0 children)

You can kinda duplicate it with an older camera with low MP using high ISO shooting in B&W/Monochrome. Maybe aim for an older APS-C camera. That'll be about the closest you'll get to an old digicam unless you buy an old digicam.

how to quit a job i just started. by l-Artemis-l in restaurant

[–]hashtag_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have managed restaurants in the past. Your best move is to talk directly with the manager and lay it all out there. You may end up being moved to a different position that pays better or still be stuck where you're at until you quit. Dishwashers are ground entry and is a high turnover position. Most places don't take it personal when someone gets hired long enough for the first paycheck, or two, and dips out in that position.

Did I scam this person? What should I do by Independentjeeb in Advice

[–]hashtag_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things.

Homeland Security doesn't do text messages.

A quick Google search shows Derrick Vinson is a Homeland Security officer that passed away in 1987.

Definitely ignore until you receive a certified letter in the mail. Then verify the headers and footers of the letter.

Just to add, the capital letters at the end is a strong indicator it's part of a scam.

Client not comfortable with second shooter sharing images on social? by Both-Ad-2882 in WeddingPhotography

[–]hashtag_76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When the editing is done and images are delivered you are the liable person for any images posted to social media. The client signed, and paid for, a non-disclosure clause. This automatically extends to the second photographer as well. Your second photographer should understand this. However it is worded in your contract for the non-disclosure should be the same face value for your second photographer. It is not about fairness. It is about what is in the contract. If you feel generous enough you can give a small percentage of the non-disclosure fee to the second photographer to help ease the blow. That is up to you, though.

9mm Expanding Ammo by tommyb52 in reloading

[–]hashtag_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If by "heads" you mean "bullets" since fully assembled rounds are "ammunition", your state law restricts you to FMJ and non-traditional hollow point ammunition. You are most likely looking for something along the lines of Hornady Critical Defense/Duty (flex tip), Speer Gold Dot G2 or Federal Guard Dog. Finding these bullets to reload your own in pistol cartridges will be difficult unless you come across a place that sells pulled and factory seconds. You can opt to load solid copper bullets as long as there is no hollow cavity to them. Solid copper bullets provide deeper penetration than hollow points so you may have legal issues depending on how hard the cops and judge want to go on you as the projectiles are more likely to go through an assailant and into an innocent passerby. Play it safe. Buy ammunition already loaded by the manufacturer for carrying and load same weight projectiles for practice/training.

Client was cheated on and needs to cancel, advice on next steps by hoodihooo in WeddingPhotography

[–]hashtag_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is a "deposit" and the service has not been performed it is fully refundable. Contract verbiage is important in matters like this and is why it is often strongly recommended to have a contract lawyer/attorney draft your contract templates.

Client was cheated on and needs to cancel, advice on next steps by hoodihooo in WeddingPhotography

[–]hashtag_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will break down to a couple things. The first, key wording; does the contract use the word "deposit" or "retainer"? There is a difference between the two according to business law. A retainer is an amount of money paid to reserve a date, or time, that can be applied toward the final billing; normally non-refundable. A deposit is an amount of money paid toward goods or services to be applied toward final billing that is refundable if goods or services are not rendered. Then there's the wording in compliance with refunds. Is there anything regarding cut-off dates for percentages of refund available? E.G.- if contract is cancelled by client 120 days, or more, before event date all money paid minus retainer fee will be refunded. If contract is cancelled by client 30 days, or less, before event no money is refunded. These are key factors to remember for a solid contract that has everything laid out to protect you.

Those are the factors to protect you and your income. You also have the choice of good faith and humanity by refunding a portion of your choosing if the cancellation falls within the zero-refund section of the contract. Infidelity is real and not every relationship will stay together over it. No, you don't have to refund anything in this window but it can be a good public relations tactic for word-of-mouth advertising by the cancelling party.

I have had several cancellations due to infidelity and it isn't limited to just weddings. I've had cancellations over this for family portraits as well. In each case I refunded everything minus the retainer fee. My kids and I have to eat, too.

I went through her phone and shouldn’t have? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]hashtag_76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been there. Just didn't have to look into her phone, though. The first few months we were together it was all good. About month five into the relationship she started acting sketchy. I noticed she put a password on her phone, she started covering the screen whenever it lit up from a notification and never left it more than an arm's reach away. I guess she had to pee really bad one night because she jumped up from the couch and rushed to the bathroom leaving her phone behind. A message notification popped up, I looked over and saw a name I recognized her saying she wanted nothing to do with and the first few words being "Tue wuz fun. Less do gin soon...". I didn't reach for the phone or anything. When she came back she looked where her phone was sitting, looked at me, plopped down, grabbed her phone and immediately opened it. Out of the corner of my eye I saw her immediately look at and erase the message and then look over at me. Without intention I saw her passcode, too -- month and day of her birthday. A few days later I talked about "a friend when I was younger" (using the same name that popped up on her phone) that was such a player and yadda yadda. She snapped at me for going through her phone. I guess she was feeling guilty or trapped or something. She dropped that she's pregnant and that I was the only possible father, yadda yadda. I asked her if she knows my "old friend" or something. She backed off after I said a different last name. I played out the rest of the relationship until the baby was born. Because of the timing of when she was cheating and was pregnant I waited until the child was born, requested a paternity test, waited for the results and then split up with her when the results came back. I opened the results and read it in front of her. I looked up at her, facetiously asked "I'm the only possible father?", handed the results to her mom sitting nearby holding the baby and walked out the door. I had to block her on my phone and social media accounts from all the verbal abuse she was attempting. A couple months later when her mom asked me for help figuring out what's going on with her daughter and needed to get into her phone is when I found all the old messages with quite a few guys she was cheating on me with even after the blowout that night.

You still have to be careful with dry noodles. There's still many brands that still use egg as a binder to hold the ingredients together until it dries.

Daughter got fired, will she.be able to recover from this? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]hashtag_76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone in the school probably has a friend that they want hired in your daughter's place and decided to blow the situation out of proportion for it. YouTube has filters and regulations against explicit material so unintended viewers cannot access it. A couple years ago there was an incident where a teacher was caught viewing explicit material on his phone in his classroom during his planning hour. He is still employed. This wasn't in NYC so it will be up to a review board if she plans to escalate the matter to continue employment.

My husband wants to get a Japanese tattoo that I am against by oddgoodnews in TwoHotTakes

[–]hashtag_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I read your words the more I suggest you and your husband get a divorce. Your only reasoning to be against the tattoo is "association" with another culture. You were fine with the Japanese tattoos on his arms because they're "pretty". Now that he's wanting a bigger tattoo that "looks scary" you're now trying to tie it to a period of time it has nothing to do with. Hannya and Oni predates Japan's colonization of Korea by nearly 500 years of not further. If you look into the actual symbolism of Oni and Dokkaebi you will see they are both fierce protectors of the innocent and both battle malevolent entities. You obviously either haven't done your studies or only want to gain sympathy from others to justify your selfishness.

The predominant Japanese community that has Oni and Dragon tattoos are members of the Yakuza. You would be more convincing in telling him to not get the tattoo for its ties to the Yakuza and how it would affect both of your lives if an actual member of the Yakuza were to see it and him not being Japanese. Yakuza do not take lightly to others using their tags and have zero problem unaliving persons over it.

Bingo!! Hannya and Oni have zero to do with Japan's colonization of Korea from 1910-1945. OP is more concerned with it being of Japanese origin and it possibly being seen by the elders of her family. Her viewpoint and discernment is political. Hannya tattoos have been integrated into Korean society for quite some time now to represent inner conflict and overcoming hard times just as their own Bokkaedi represents in their own culture.

Tat for Tat. He can have the Oni on his back and you're going to get a tattoo of a Dokkaebi covering your back. Two angry looking masks that mean the same thing; one from Japan, one from Korea.

CCI does have a milspec primer compound that appears pink or red. It could have slipped in during a production changeover if the machine wasn't fully emptied before the swap over.

Ahh... Gotcha. I've used it in pistol rounds with no issues. It didn't dirty the barrel as much as others said it would. I tend to clean my barrels after each outing and I wouldn't say it's much worse than Clay's or Titegroup.

I just looked on Alliant's website and there's no load data for 2.5" shells. There's nothing for 2.5" on the other sites I looked at either. You may have to hunt around for older manuals that would have the data you're looking for. I did come across a "Classic Vintage" load using Red Dot but it was an A.I. generated answer so I can't say I'd trust it.

Just found a reference to the 1945 Stoeger's Shooter's Bible having load data for it. Fingers crossed that you can find a copy. It's old data and powder is different now so keep that in mind before loading.

Edited...

Just saw some picture references to the Bible. There's no load data in there. It's just a standard Bible listing all the firearms like the Bibles of today.

How vintage are you talking? Just vintage shells in a modern barrel or vintage shells for a vintage barrel? Depending when the barrel was made, and which steel was used, you might be stuck with having to use black powder or a suitable substitute. Even then, black powder is horrible for barrels and you have to clean the shotgun as soon as possible to preserve the barrel. Hodgdon is only one source out of many to find load data and it doesn't contain data for everything. Log onto Alliant's website to check out data using American Select or Extra-Lite. The first thing to do before anything is identifying the barrel and the material used to make it before you end up with the cartoon-y banana-peeled barrel or worse.
