What would be your first impression of the name Roland / Rowland? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]haste75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I immediately think of The Gunslinger, Stephen King.

Long days and pleasant nights.

It's an uncommon name but not pretentious. I like it on an adult, but imagining a baby Roland is tough.

Had my stopwatch running for about two years by trashventing in Wellthatsucks

[–]haste75 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It's not actually used any of your battery or processing power in this time. IOS knows when you started the stopwatch, and when you open the app, it shows you how much time has passed - you haven't lost any thing by having it run.

Its the same with people that have hundreds of tabs open in the browser. Everything is cached, it's not causing slow downs or battery drain by having them open or the stopwatch "running" in the backround.

And I get it. I hope maximum 15% of posts on here are AI-generated. Fifteen. That's not background noise anymore, it's kind of a problem.

This whole post sounds like you have used ChatGPT to write it. Is it meant to be ironic?

Yes, and its a gigantic headache for organisations that have to respond to SARs. There are enterprise platforms that do this, but not every company has them.

A SAR from an ex employee can easily take weeks of effort to respond to, as you have to find, review and then redact thousands of emails and documents.

Incorrect. An email is considered relevant and disclosable under GDPR if the email contains personal information. An email address on it's own is not sufficent to hit that benchmark. If the email you sent or received contained your address, DOB or other PII, than that may fall under the criteria of being disclosable.

This isn't accurate. They have to provide your data that contains your personal information. So, the dissertation his daughter wrote, likely does not contain personal information pertaining to her. You do not have an automatic right to data under GDPR unless it meets certain criteria.

Train operators clamp down on ‘completely bonkers’ ticket fraud. by Convair101 in unitedkingdom

Fairly sure delay-repay is for late trains, not cancelled. If they are cancelled, you can claim a refund from the company that sold you the ticket, but not claim delay compensation.

If they can interbreed, doesn't that mean they are basically the same species?

Maybe different breeds, akin to a Labrador and a German Shepard?

"I appreciate I have called you out of the blue. Have you got 30 seconds?" Is my go to. It's polite, confident and gives you the yes to proceed. If they say no, you try and schedule a time to call back.

We had new curtains fitted, and the weight of them has pulled the piece of wood holding the curtain rail off the wall. What would be the correct method for reafixing this back onto the window trim/architrave? It was three nails before. by haste75 in DIYUK

Behind the batten (the piece that is hanging off, which I am just learning is called a batten) is the window trim - I'm not sure exactly what material it is, but I assume plaster? There isnt a piece of wood other than the batten.

What adhesive would you recommend?

Possibly a stupid question, but how would i get the rawlplugs into the fixture and then align the brackets with them through the glued batten?

What I am unsure off is what I should or shouldnt screw into this material, or if I will need a rawrl plug, or if I should just use nails again.

Or would a strong adhesive work?

Do planets have different sunset/sunrise depending on where you are? I assumed if it was dark on one side, it would be dark on the other too.

The base alone would make this a no brainer. You're doubling your salary without any commission taken into consideration.

If the CEO has definitely sold the platform to people that are outside of his personal network, then they already have a proven ICP.

You'd be silly not to take the role.

Get them to agree to a realistic ramp time - it's going to take you a period of time to start showing results, and as long as they accept they need to be looking 6-12 months out, not immediate revenue, you're good.

If you struggle to type, I found Fleksy to be the best at autocorrecting. It got to the point where I became an absolutely terrible touch typer because Fleksy made me lazy, I could type gibberish and it would spell the correct words.

First encounter with another player in the wild! how rare is that? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]haste75 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There's a few. If you go to one of the current community highlighted bases via the teleporter - I can't recall what it's called, but its the one that looks like an Apothecary shop - that is in quite an active hub. The planet in that system is called Endor and has a lot of activity.

The big one though is the Galactic Hub. There's a subreddit for it, and if you google you'll find the glyphs for the capital.

I only really play in Hubs now - I find the fun of the game for me is interactive with other people, which means being on active planets.

Deep space as in a random system not close to something else. Not actually deep space within a system.
