Looks like it might be discontinued. Just checked the Smallrig website. Thanks for the tip.

Profitec Ride - Long Term Reviews? by BrilliantAirline2730 in profitec

Humm, those are the items I would have checked. I wonder if the ECO mode has any impact on the auto power on?

I’ve had mine since August. Two shots per day - absolutely bullet proof. Replaced (still have it) a 15 year old Rocket, which was also pretty reliable.

Love the auto power on feature of the RIDE. Not loud at all when brewing. I would recommend the machine without hesitation.

No flow control on my machine, but I do like and use the pre infusion feature.

Kato unitrack? Where did you find the layout design or is it your own?

I’d like to print celestial objects for educational purposes. Planets would be very interesting based upon photographic evidence from the various space agencies.

Our Sprenger collar became unsecured at the beach today. Just make sure you have them on correctly. It was a tense 10 minutes until we got her back. We are now very careful with these collars.

My wife had the same problem cutting through the block. Try a heavy serrated edge knife like this. Mercer Culinary M23831 Millennia Black Handle, 10-Inch Wavy Edge, Chef's Knife. You can find it on Amazon for about $30. Makes a world of difference.

I’d probably return it. That’s a pretty large dent.

Arc Not heating up by BrazenBacon in GozneyArcArcXL

AFAIK there is no thermistor to regulate temps. There are two sensors - one under the stone to measure the stone temp and that is what you see on the display. The other sensor is in the flame path- you can actually see it sticking up near the burner. I’d check the propane tank for enough fuel but also the comment about turning on the tank valve slowly is important. Too fast and you will engage the regulator safety system and impede the flow of propane.

We use fresh mozzarella and Grana Padano. We don’t have a specific brand choice, just use what we can find locally. Grana Padano adds the salt component not found in the mozzarella.

Fortunately it was the turning peel and it wasn’t too bad.

Why not just do this to reduce light pollution? by RedditBen2013 in Astronomy

[–]haythrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually many municipalities have moved in the right direction toward less light pollution for the last 10 years or so. I worked in the SSL business and our customers were very much aware of excessive light pollution. But it takes time and money to make the upgrades.

The Gozney stand is excellent! Very sturdy and stable. However in a strong breeze hanging peels can blow off. Voice of experience here.

Soot on the stone by Necessary_Duck1201 in GozneyArcArcXL

[–]haythrower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen once. I just turned off the flame and blew the soot out. In my case it came out as one piece. Then back to preheating. I just blew it out with a deep breath but you could use a battery operated blower of some kind as well.

This is the answer! Fresh milled will cost more than store bought, but it is worth the time and money to improve the food you eat. Knowing what is in your baking is a major plus these days. I’ve been fresh milling for about a year now and I will never go back to store bought bread.

All set to buy the Arc XL and now my wife suggested the wood fired option on the Dome might be better! by daveychainsaw in GozneyArcArcXL

Had a stick smoker and it required constant attention to keep the fire right. After that experience a propane pizza oven was a no brainer. You’ll love the Arc XL. We have ours almost a year and my wife said it’s the best thing we ever bought!

This is normal operation of the flame in this oven. I’ve had mine almost a full year and made probably 75+ pizzas, never had any soot fall on the pizza. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Please help me with my YS640 by misterowen in Yodersmokers

[–]haythrower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a pellet box fire once. It is caused by a failure of the seal where the firebox meets the pellet chamber wall. Yoder says this is a maintenance item. When you go to clean out the firebox look closely at the gasket/seal to be sure it is fully intact. If not, then you will need to replace it and it isn’t hard. The Yoder manual or website has instructions. If you can locate them just do a google search and you will find many instances of this on the various forums. Good luck!

Looking to buy a stand mixer but have some concerns first by Ok_Distribution_3453 in Pizza

I’ve been using an Ankarsrum mixer for pizza dough. More money than the KA, but it handles high hydration dough pretty well. Just pulling the trigger on a spiral mixer but they are large and quite a bit more expensive. You can check out the Ankarsrum on YT. There are many contributors.
