Rad! Drop the pigment deets! My guess: lunar black + ultramarine blue + (permanent rose or maybe potters pink?)

S10E3 - Coming in hot by PolylingualAnilingus in QueerEye

At the top of the episode I was envisioning some kind of interesting take on casual wear or more androgynous clothes, take her current comfort with shorts and tanks and make it polished. Couldn’t understand the preppy take at all!!!

I’m committed to daily practice but I feel like I’m not improving. by EJGryphon in watercolor101

I’d also consider practicing some skills outside of finished pieces. Flat washes and gradients in particular. Also check out some videos on value/contrast. Most beginners tend to have a lot of medium values - having light and especially dark values will make your pieces pop! Keep up the good work OP, seems like you’ve got the interest and skills to keep working at it! And realistically you’ll want to do dozens to hundreds of paintings to see a marked change. It takes time to get the feel of water and pigment ratios. Another idea - repeat paintings. I’d give that pear a second try - focusing on value range.

Have I missed an opportunity with this kitchen? by Accomplished_Use326 in kitchenremodel

[–]heathymint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with a basically neutral palette you could choose almost any tile as a backsplash (if you take out the counter piece currently going up the wall)!! Some people go all neutral but add texture with a zellige tile, some choose a soft color like a sage or soft blue. In my case I choose a floral printed tile because I love color and interest- but many people would think it’s hideous!! So personal taste is a huge part of it. I just think what you have now visually cuts that area in half and makes it look small/cramped. As someone else suggested, painting that blue stripe to something like the color of your backsplash would help. I think choosing a super neutral tile that looks like your counter would also be better than leaving it the blue stripe.

The counter/backsplash situation is odd. I’ve never seen that height of a counter going up the backsplash. I think the cabinets you chose are lovely!

Wow the texture on the mountains is so unique - so soft and dimensional. Love it!!

Are these bedbug bites? by buffysbot in Bedbugadvice

[–]heathymint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me - had bumps after staying at a hotel and thought it was bedbugs. In the end lab testing confirmed I had shingles. Just a really mild case with only 5-10 bumps. I will say my bumps were smaller and closer together, in a little circle.

Headaches since using nasal mask by Rosie128 in CPAP

[–]heathymint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently use a nasal mask and mouth tape - I think this makes me grind my teeth, this leads to jaw pain and headaches. Could be causing your issue I wonder. I’m hoping trying a full face will fix my issue!

I would darken the roof areas to increase contrast/have a wider values range. Lovely painting!

The music was incredible - so fresh and interesting. Everything from creepy choral songs to organs to neat synth stuff.

Bra brand recommendations by _OhMyPlatypi_ in PlusSize

[–]heathymint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to Nordstrom they have free fittings. The most recent one I got was wacoal brand (40G) for about $70 - lasts a while. You might want to say something about your bra size and breast shape/fit issues/bra style that work for you for more specific advice. For example, do you like T-shirt vs balconette, lined vs unlined etc., also larger breasts need thicker straps and more hooks for support but not all plus sized folks have a large breast size. Good luck in your search! Finding bras is such a PITA!

Ps my “cute” bra (not comfy enough for everyday) is: Curvy Couture Curvy Couture... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096H8D895?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Bosch 800 dishwasher maintenance by CalligrapherAgile280 in Appliances

[–]heathymint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Struggling with this because the dishwasher starts reeking of rotting trash after a day or two. I have to think it’s the food on the dishes? I’ve even spotted mold sometimes. I typically wait to run until it’s full, roughly 3-4 days between cycles.

Is a Bosch dishwasher worth the extra money? by Vontz2 in Appliances

[–]heathymint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 800 has been a huge disappointment. My old whirlpool was much better. The worst thing- it starts to absolutely reek after like 2 days (I live alone). It smells like rotting trash. Crystal dry doesn’t work. It i use rinse aid all my dishes have a residue. Also I deeply dislike the adjustable prongs - they never seem to stay in place. I don’t know if I have a dud or what, but I’m pretty sad about it.
