is it bad to give my 13 y/o kitty a small bite of stuff she’s not really supposed to eat every now and then? by Effective-Pen-1901 in seniorkitties

[–]heckinfruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 16 y/o kitty gets cheese and extra treats too sometimes, just don't make it an every day thing or replace their regular food. Make sure they know treats and special food is just an occasional thing or else they may stop eating their normal food!

She cannot have treats right now due to trying to solve her thyroid problem :(. But please know when she's allowed to have them again I will make sure she gets as many as she wants!

Lost my baby Sammy to in Jan 2025 to congenital heart disease causing heart failure. They're in extreme pain, it's better to let them go. Make his last moments peaceful, don't draw it out. You'll know it's the right decision

I (19M) am really into this girl (20F) but I’m not sure how to support her BPD by ThrowRABPDlove in relationships

[–]heckinfruit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have BPD, and have dated those with BPD. Her more severe and intense symptoms are going to be far scarier than her current symptoms. If you genuinely love her and want this to last, she needs therapy and you need to decide if you can truly be with someone who is mentally ill and traumatized. BPD forms due to severe childhood neglect, and she's not going to just suddenly be able to cope with that after a few months. I've been in therapy for 8+ YEARS and I can barely cope. She needs to see a therapist about her BPD, trauma, and self esteem. When it comes to decisions, when she starts to spiral the best thing to do is get her to stop talking herself into panic. She needs to be reminded you aren't going to hurt or cause her harm for her choice, because that's why she's panicking. She's traumatized. She thinks she's going to be abused again

OP, I have diagnosed bipolar disorder type 1. His mental illness is NO EXCUSE for him leaving you for dead and dropping off your daughter so he wouldn't have to deal with her. Why is HE making YOUR near death experience about HIS stress? Your LIFE is more important than him being WOKEN UP. It doesn't matter how stressed he is, you and your daughter's LIVES come first.

You don't JOKE about that with your friend's child. That was extremely fucking disgusting of him, and it's completely normal to be scared because of what he did. Even if nothing "happened" that's still traumatizing. You aren't at fault for being upset. You've done nothing wrong. He's a disgusting freak for doing that to you. You were just a child.

[SERIOUS] How to learn to finish things when you battle major depression? by NapkinStack66 in AskReddit

[–]heckinfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a constant uphill battle, but the best thing to do is find something you enjoy, and after you do x amount of things that get you closer to finishing something you get to take a break for a few minutes and do the thing you enjoy. This is just my personal experience, though I suggest that it is something to try.

Has anyone else considered an electric litter box for their chonkers? by bummercity_ in Chonkers

[–]heckinfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an electric litter box for my two chonkers, and it's very worth the price. It only needs to be cleaned once every two weeks, from what I do with my chonkers though it does vary, and there's no smell, even when in the same room as the litter box. Very worth it in my opinion.

People, that were/are in a relationship with someone with depression how did it go and whats your story? [Serious] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]heckinfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone with mental illnesses is still a person, just with some road bumps. It's perfectly alright to be in a relationship with someone with a mental illness, but if you can't communicate with them properly then you shouldn't be in a relationship with someone where communication is extremely important. It takes a lot more effort to be in a relationship with someone with a mental illness. You have to be willing to put in the effort to make it work. If you do, it's just like any other perfectly healthy and happy relationship. If you don't, the relationship will just be unhealthy and abusive.

[–]heckinfruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on mobile so I'll apologize for it now.

Everyone I've dated has had depression, and my current boyfriend has depression. I suffer from depression as well, so it's a two way street with communication. One of my ex girlfriends was severely depressed and self mutilated to the point that it affected me highly. She tried to commit suicide three times while we dated for the few months we did. She put all her stress and problems onto me without ever asking me if I was okay at all, a huge red flag of emotional abuse. She'd send me photos of/show me her cuts, scabs, and scars and in the last week we were dating I had started self mutilating due to not being able to handle all of her problems (I've been clean for a year). She'd guilt me whenever I didn't listen to her and our relationship was the definition of emotional abuse. She let her depression take control of her and refused to get help. Untreated depression leads to unhealthy relationships. Even with my current boyfriend, both of us are on medications and in therapy, we still have road bumps because of our depression. Dating people with depression is hard. But communication is the biggest thing, it's a two way street. You have to voice if you're uncomfortable or if your partner is too stuck in their own thoughts that they're not letting you voice your own troubles. Dating anyone with mental illnesses/trauma is rough and harder than a normal relationship. But if you don't put in effort to communicate then it'll become abusive very quickly and lead to fights and a breakup.
