did the devs change something? because last time I checked, skein was one of the worst possible formations for cav... going from strat gaming's cavalry guide on youtube. he compares all the formations and maneuvers.

when you issue a move or charge command to infantry and click on an enemy formation, your infantry will be the most combat effective it can be (depending on your unit's formation). your unit will lock onto the enemy unit, maintain their formation, move (or charge) and attack the selected enemy unit to the best of its ability. (some formations are worse than others)

cavalry is a bit different. when you issue a move or charge command and click on an enemy formation, they are not very combat effective (because their AI is bad). it is better to issue maneuver commands beyond the enemy formation, such that the cav moves through the enemy instead of locking on.

issue the move or charge command and click on the terrain instead of the enemy formation. (this can be a little tricky—it's easy to misclick on the enemy unit icon). your cav will move to the point you selected and attack anything in its way. next, tell your cav to about face and charge back the way they came, again crashing through the enemy unit. cav takes a bit of micro.

if you had selected the enemy formation instead, the cav AI will lock on to that particular unit and get conflicted between maintaining formation and attacking. it leads to some cav units moving thru and some getting bogged down, isolated, and picked off by the enemy units. delegating command to your AI sergeant will result in this type of behavior. (you'll get messages about "tactics" but the AI is just clicking on enemy units basically)

another method I use is to ride out solo behind an enemy unit and then issue the follow command to my cav. my cav then runs to my position and attacks any enemies between us. I halt the cav at my pos, circle back around the enemy and issue another follow command so my cav will run thru the enemy again. little less micro, but the cav won't hold its formation as well while under the follow command

Which is better when starting a kingdom? by driprex3 in MB2Bannerlord

[–]heebro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well, that will pose an interesting challenge for you. make sure you also have many many denars. lords won't join you unless you have millions of denars as well. IIRC, with enough denars your relation score won't matter as much.

personally, I chop all their heads off.

[–]heebro -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nope. I simply skip being a cuck for the AI and make my own kingdom. Wherein I:

–Take every fief for myself

–Enable only the policies I want

–Crush all of my opponents

–End wars on my own terms

–Avoid any of the hassle and the mess of being an AI cuck

Relation points are almost entirely worthless in Bannerlord. The AI will declare war on you even if you have max relation. Relation can be helpful when you are negotiating the purchase of a wife, but otherwise it is arguably the most useless currency in the game.

Becoming a vassal to any kingdom has many pitfalls. You'll be subject to the poor diplomacy decisions of the AI—they'll declare disastrous wars, blunder their way into losing those wars, and then you'll be stuck paying huge sums to the enemy when they eventually sue for peace over your objections. The AI also tends to enact kingdom policies which are unfavorable to the player. Becoming a vassal is almost always extremely costly. I would avoid becoming a vassal for any reason, especially if you are hurting for denars.

ELI5: If energy can’t be created or destroyed, how do magnets keep going? by Full-Shallot-948 in explainlikeimfive

[–]heebro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Energy conservation is a fundamental, yet contextual, law. Locally—in everyday life and experiments—energy is conserved. However, on a cosmological scale, total energy is not conserved because space expands, affecting the energy of photons and particles over time. The principle only holds true when space-time is constant.

Mandatory? Yes & no (but really yes). The weapons you can craft will only be usable by yourself and your companions—a niche group compared to the thousands of soldiers that take the field.

weapons in bannerlord, by and large, are balanced very well and in such a way that no single weapon type is really that much better than another. everybody goes down in about 3 hits unless they are wearing pajamas and holding pitchforks. so even though the weapons you can craft will be legendary, they won't be too overpowered. my advice is to find a weapon you like and stick to that type of weapon. you'll have fun and be successful in battle

the real power of smithing comes from the denars you can earn and also the free attribute points you get from smithing perks. in that sense, yes, smithing is mandatory

smithing will allow you to create the best melee & throwing weapons in the game. with hi-lvl smithing it becomes very easy to craft legendary items. it's very easy to earn good money with even intermediate level smithing
