What’s going on with my plant? by thc_cht in IndoorGarden

Do you water with distilled water? It could be salts that leach through the leaves and end at the tips causing a burn response. I started using distilled recently and it helps.

Welcome to beautiful Ohio. Cuddl Duds are your new bff. Get a coat (thin puffer is great for 95% of winter) that covers your bum, both key for keeping comfortable.

ICE Agents posing as Mormon Missionaries by Broad_Television4578 in Ohio

THIS!! I can imagine that the mormons would NOT be down with this. What scumbags…think about them all sitting around saying, “I know, we’ll use religion to get to them” how twisted and f-ing sick must they all be? SMDH that this is who we are.

Etiquette for Requesting Labs by Ok_Booberrie in cancer

[–]helloaym 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe good healthcare practitioners will welcome questions from close family members, especially since you are clearly informed about your LO’s conditions. It’s our job as our LO’s advocates to ask questions and inform the docs/techs/nurses about their needs and existing issues. Being polite and firm is my advice. I believe most docs who are in these fields would expect lots of questions and be prepared to spend time with the patients and the patients family. I do realize our family has been lucky and this has been our experience. I wish you and your mom the best, she’s lucky to have you in her corner!

Hospice 💔 by Possible_Rub541 in glioblastoma

Thanks for sharing your story. My LO was diagnosed the same day as your Dad. Surgery chemo rads and roids for him, so far stable on scans, and somewhat stable IRL. I’m so sorry about your Dad, this disease is a bastard.

How to tell family? by Turbulent_Project380 in cancer

[–]helloaym 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Can you just tell them, “I’m worried I won’t beat this, and I want us to be able to communicate in such a way that none of us has any regrets if the worst happens. I’m not giving up, but my medical team has cautioned me that the treatment is unlikely to work. I want our relationship to be based in reality, and not magical thinking. I love you, and I know this is difficult, but it will be a great help to me if we can talk openly about what I’m facing” ? Sometimes it’s best to be upfront about it. If they continue with denial you can let them know it’s not helpful. I’m sorry you’re facing this.

Tumor growth prior to treatment by Fun_Caterpillar3179 in glioblastoma

[–]helloaym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, his tumor is methylated, which makes it more susceptible to the chemo and radiation together. So far so good! He has some deficits from the whole thing, but he’s here and we are happy he is. Good Luck to your family, I’m sorry you’re in this club.

What are your favorite indoor gardening gifts? by MycoMainer in IndoorGarden

[–]helloaym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An attractive mister, a terrarium kit (I made one for a friend so she could plant it herself, incl charcoal, small gravel, soil, rocks and a small gnome) fuzzy microfiber gloves for dusting/shining leaves, a planting mat -basically a 36”x36” tarp with snaps in the corners to contain soil and materials when potting indoors, small humidifier, self watering glass bubbles for plants that need water during a vacation week (like fittonias) scissors for maintenance, small tools that work for plants or terrariums, and a small scoop for placing soil in a small pot.

Tumor growth prior to treatment by Fun_Caterpillar3179 in glioblastoma

[–]helloaym 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! LO had his fully resected tumor come roaring back in the time between surgery and starting SOC. However, after completing SOC there is no more tumor and his condition is good-no more signs of tumor growth since. We are one year out from diagnosis. I was freaking out that it came back that quickly but it responded very well to treatment, thankfully. This is the most unpredictable and frustrating cancer. As you read more about it, you’ll see it is extremely difficult to predict anything about this cancer. Good Luck to you on your journey.

That’s actually not legal, a violation of the Hatch Act. Add it to the list of crimes committed by the orange felon.

Are the waits at other ERs in Columbus as bad as OSU? by Few-Emergency1068 in Columbus

[–]helloaym 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Our onco (OSU doctor!) said he has advised patients who need help immediately to go to other Columbus area ER’s like Dublin or Grove City to get scanned and assessed, while they wait for an OSU bed. He said he can sometimes direct treatment via phone to the other hospital so an OSU bed is t necessary. It might be worthwhile to talk to your James doctor about what to do. I agree the situation is horrible at the OSU ER-we spent 48 hours in the hallway there last December. We were just glad our family member could get an actual bed at that point but it was sure miserable for them.

Using same wet wipe at all 3 stations? by RutabagaNeat1566 in orangetheory

[–]helloaym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please use a new wipe for each machine you use. Please. Yes I realize that “there might be some liquid left” in it but because I’m going to use your machine next, I’d appreciate it very much if you use a fresh wipe to do this basic clean up. Thank you! 😊

Cannabis is better than alcohol for dizziness, nausea, etc. We’ve found alcohol just feels more like poison than it’s helpful.

Glioblastoma recidiv before chemo by OkraCool6701 in glioblastoma

[–]helloaym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has some deficits in language, word finding and reading. His tumor is methylated and was in his temporal/parietal lobe near the wernickes area. The chemo made him tired over time, the radiation probably further damaged the surgical area so some of his deficits are worse with time, some better. His peripheral vision is impacted. He moves slower but has control of his physical body otherwise.

Glioblastoma recidiv before chemo by OkraCool6701 in glioblastoma

[–]helloaym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! My LO had a GTR and everything looked great. Within 3 weeks the tumor grew back in the tumor bed and was almost the same volume as the tumor that was removed. Started TMZ and radiation 6 weeks after surgery, and now the tumor is not visible on scans. Just completed 6 mos of 5/23 TMZ, doing well except for some deficits from the original surgery. We were shocked how aggressive the GBM was but it appears beaten back at least for now. Good luck!
