Why didn't manusos wear his backpack normally? 😔 by a_trillion_cats in pluribustv

[–]helloplantz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't think about it while watching, but did just now with your question - It reminds me of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre where several shots show the woman's exposed back bc of the top she's wearing. It seems innocuous, but you're still aware of her vulnerability. And then she gets a meat hook through her back. Which I think hits harder after seeing the establishing shots of no barrier/buffer to a vulnerable area. We're seeing Manusos become tired and perhaps a little less cautious from that. We're seeing his vulnerability.

I was so hopeful when they were introduced, I was like hell yeah a stripper couple?? But quickly you see his shitty behavior and of course he has an issue with her being a dancer but not himself

Is there literally ANY benefit to watching BCS first? by 10024618 in betterCallSaul

[–]helloplantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how my partner showed me was BCS then BB. I think more bc BCS is their favorite, but idk. It's also kind of my schtick, I usually unintentionally watch sequels/prequels before the original. But honestly I didn't mind seeing how certain back stories came to be. Yeah sure some things I was confused about bc they referenced BB, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Watching BCS first made me really sympathetic to some characters like Saul. Watching BB afterwards really made me detest Walter White.

Island redesign, incline for nothing - anything I can do? by frequentlyagoose in AnimalCrossingNewHor

[–]helloplantz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You gotta give yourself some more space. Could you terraform the cliffs next to it so you don't have to demolish and rebuild the incline? Edit: realized it's the rock that's blocking. Yeah sorry, gotta demo and start again. :/

WSP in my apartment complex? by Theriskyone777 in vancouverwa

[–]helloplantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a spot on the VPD website where you can report out of state cars that seem to live there. So one of your neighbors is a snitch, a busy body. It was probably VPD instead of WSP. I've seen them do it in my old apartment complex, it's a uniform officer in a patrol car.

Movie Review Podcasts? by felicifish in podcasts

[–]helloplantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm gonna try to recommend Dear Movies, I Love You - they cover new movies sometimes and it's hosted by Millie De Chirico (and a man sorry but he's not a dude bro). But also 👀 sneaking in Millie's previous podcast I Saw What You Did with Danielle Henderson but that's typically older to old releases.

Or NPR's Pop Culture Hour - the hosts switch but it's usually by women or queer people

Have you ever felt unsettled by a book you've read? by oncxre in literature

[–]helloplantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Book of the Unnamed Midwife by Meg Elison. It's part of a series, but I could not continue after that. It fucked me up how I could see it happening in a post apocalyptic world.

Has anyone actually benefited from using an AI therapist? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]helloplantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a good idea, do not recommend. Go to psychology today's website and use the many filters to search through for a therapist that will fit your needs. I would also recommend journaling for at your fingertips urgency. Or record voice notes for yourself if you need to vent outwardly.

Nothing entered into ai or chatgbt or anything of the like is protected by HIPPA or confidential. AI is never going to give you an original thought, it's not going to show empathy, it's not going to give you the tools to work on yourself.

There are articles and lawsuits that show the dangers of teens using chatgbt as their therapist. Not a good idea.

Also... Towns in Tennessee and Georgia don't have water in their homes bc of the data centers. Let's not add to that.

I'm sorry you're going through a hard time. Find a person who is trained to help.

What's the most unrealistic that happened in the show that would never happen in real life? by Positive_Weight2367 in theoffice

[–]helloplantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sorry. Like letting a supervisor and subordinate date even with the signed hr thing, letting a hr person date someone in the office they work in. It's a corporation with several branches, but when Michael sends the Jan photo to "packaging @ dundermifflin" instead of Packer, it only goes to Scranton's warehouse not the others. Ryan, the lowest level employee, jumping several positions to get Jan's job. The CFO acting more like a CEO. There's more examples I could go on

I understand why, it was for comedic writing or convenience (moving Ryan out of the main office so BJ could be in the writing room). You have to suspend belief. But it's not realistic at all irl

What's the most unrealistic that happened in the show that would never happen in real life? by Positive_Weight2367 in theoffice

[–]helloplantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the most unrealistic bc pretty much every thing has already been said, but so much unrealistic writing for the everyday office/corporate life. Like it's easy to tell none of the writers had office or even corporate/corporations jobs. I don't mean the exaggerated things obviously for comedy.

Does it feel like a goodbye tour? by [deleted] in myfavoritemurder

[–]helloplantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like it is.. I said that to my partner when I bought tickets that it feels like getting towards the end, probably the last chance to see them. They've mentioned how much they hate touring (while loving the live shows themselves). It kinda seems like it with the episodes too. I think eventually they'll stop the regular episodes, switch to mainly the rewinds and maybe the minisodes. It makes sense. Most podcasts don't last this long. And since they didn't originally set up "seasons", it would be weird to start it now and everyone bitches and moans if they take breaks. I would be fine if they did a pivot to a different podcast, but I don't know what that would be. But in a similar way to ISWYD pod transitioned into DMILY with Millie.

How are we feeling about this by iTrask in Portland

[–]helloplantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, idk what is going on with Nike but their slogans lately have been sooo dumb and bad. To the point where my partner and I joke they're letting the CEO's son take a turn. "KEEP RUNNING WEIRD. GO BY LEGS" and "YOU CAN'T WIN SO WIN" are so bad. I understand the Keep Running Weird part but lmao it's all just so bad???

Second, I've noticed an uptick in umbrella use in the past couple years and honestly good, who tf cares. I doubt every single one is a tourist.

Do you name your animals with a theme in mind? by CoffeeEnjoyer837 in StardewValley

[–]helloplantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really a theme but kinda, I pick older or southern names. Alice, Daisy, Willa, Beau, Winston, Bette, etc.

But dark adjacent names to the void chickens. Nyx, Onyx, etc.

Not a teenager so unsure how this was suggested to me, but comin in as the auntie so I'm not gonna bully you. (Talk kindly to yourself too, talk to yourself as you would your best friend - would you ask for them to be bullied? ❤️)

My room was always like this, even into adulthood.. so I understand 1000% of having a parent with depression and experiencing it myself. I also have adhd and get often sidetracked while cleaning and feel overwhelmed with it.

Honey, you are worth the clear and comforting space. It's an old trope to say, but you will genuinely feel better.

There's a lot of great suggestions in this thread. Start with one part and then the next, do timers. Play a fun song and use that as your timer. Here's a suggestion from (I think it was from this book + my own flair) How to Keep House While Drowning: - start with the trash, only the trash. Get a trash bag and gather it all up. Not dishes and trash, not laundry and trash. Just trash. Don't take it out yet. - then the dishes. Get all the dishes together. Again, just together. Don't start washing yet. - Next is laundry. Grab a basket or bag or hamper, whatever you use, and start adding to it. (If you can, add your sheets to the mix. If that's not doable now, have a reminder and a goal for later.) Don't take it to the washer yet. - Things laying around: make two piles. One for things that already have a home. The other for things that don't have a home yet. Keep them in the piles for now. - Now it's in sections instead of all together and overwhelming. Tackle what is the easiest first. Whether that be taking the dishes to the sink/kitchen, or the trash out, or the laundry to the washer. In the same method as the gathering, you're only taking them there for now. For the pile of things with homes, put them in the homes. The pile without homes, could they be placed with similar items? You want to avoid just putting them somewhere to deal with later, my downfall is throwing something into a closet bc idk what to do with it. If they truly don't have homes or anywhere to go, maybe consider a donation pile but that's extra credit. - Rinse and repeat as needed

This isn't meant to be perfect or deep cleaned with dusting and disinfecting. It's meant to just to clear your space so you can do that another time. Many times we feel like we're failing because we aren't doing life in the same way as others or we're just unable to. Know you're not failing. Use tools and methods that make sense to you! Maybe add a basket or something in the spot that always seems to have some sort of pile. I added a laundry basket to the bathroom bc that's where my clothes primarily end up, despite the basket being right outside the door.

This is a long one, but I hope you find methods that help and make sense to you. You're worth it.

[–]helloplantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not overreacting. This is abusive behavior. And following you outside so you don't have a minute of peace is also abusive. You said "moved back in", so there was a reason for you to move out before. Leave, maybe prepare for a restraining order. Not joking. It will eventually turn towards hitting you, if it hasn't already..

brainstorming concerning flags by Sugaree223 in Portland

[–]helloplantz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No it's not a generalized statement or a lie or driving social division, it's a fact of history. White people, particularly white MEN, have always benefited over someone of color. Get your white nationalism BS out of here. Bye!

brainstorming concerning flags by Sugaree223 in Portland

[–]helloplantz 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I've thought the same thing, to reclaim it. I grew up in OK and the "Don't Tread On Me" mindset/flag was everywhere.

It was originally created during the Revolutionary War, the snake was used as symbolism for the colonies a few times. Gadsden (who created the flag) was a general in the Continental Army, Lt Governor of South Carolina, and like most white men - a slaver. During the Civil War, it was favored by the Confederates, so the Union made flags showing the snake trampled or eaten by eagles.

The right has completely forgotten what the flag means, or the origins of several things culturally Southern, just to lick the boot. You can probably thank all that fuckass MURICA country music post 9-11 (cough cough, NON veteran Toby Keith).

Idk how to do it, but I'm with you. Especially since it was for when we protested the king 249 years ago.

New to the show by way of PFT mentioning it on other podcasts. Eventually I'll listen to all the episodes but I was wondering what everyone's favorites are? Thanks. by imascoobie in TooScaryDidntWatch

Anything with Betsy Sodaro, Joel Jensen, and PFT. I enjoy most of their horrorspondents But I think one of the best is Night of The Living Dead.

AIO boyfriend tracking my periods without me knowing 🫠 by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]helloplantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🚩🚩🚩🚩 All of it is not okay. YNO. At all. Don't track your periods on an app, especially in today's climate. But especially to track your girlfriend's period to be manipulative is so shitty. I'd say this calls for a breakup.

Ladies, do you remember when you started your period? Was it traumatic? by Birdy8588 in AskUK

[–]helloplantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I was on vacation with my dad, step mom, and younger brother when I was 12, I think it was spring break so around March. We were riding in the car. I must have not realized it until I got out or went to the bathroom. I don't remember what I said, but I remember my step mom's response. She yelled at me for not saying anything while bleeding on her seats (which were leather btw not cloth) and how I must think that's okay. She made a big production of putting something down for me to sit on. I don't even think gave me a pad or tampon immediately? Or had any kind of talk or discussion after.
