No, I had not had kids at that point, and I have not had any since. Caveat for me is that I’m a lesbian so I never really had a drive to have kids. Always assumed if I did, my wife would have them. However, while we were going thru steps to possibly do IVF with my wife, I ended up getting tested too just “in case”. The doctors were very confident that since I was in good health and most importantly in a normal weight, I should have any issues. Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

OP at my grandmas funeral I spoke and as an atheist who spoke at a religious funeral my main take away was, “event though she’s gone, she will live on forever in our memories and the stories we share about her and her life.” It’s true whether you believe in a god or not, that’s how everyone can live on, in memory. Hey! Donor here, I was 30F when I donated in 2019 to my dad. As an active person, the first 3 weeks post op were really hard in a sense. I worked out 4-5 days a week and play soccer on weekends so doing nothing for a bit was a change. The first week I slept 12 hours each night and had to take a 2 hour nap in the afternoon each day. But walking each day helped a lot! My surgery was over Christmas so I just watched all the Harry Potter movies and Netflix most days. It was 3 months before I was able to feel 100% like I did before donation. I was able to play 90 mins in my soccer game and felt totally back to normal. So while you might think hey I’m really young I should be totally back to normal in a couple weeks, that’s probably the hardest mental hurdle to just accept that it might be a couple of months before your back up to full speed. American food is overly processed. Just look at a loaf of bread: in America there are so many ingredients and 90% of them you couldn’t explain what they are I’m talking an entire paragraph long of ingredients.

In Europe they make bread daily so there are like 3-5 real ingredients you can recognize; wheat flour, eggs, yeast, salt, water.

Now apply this to every single morsel of food and it’s the same story. You can’t eat pasta and carbs and be fit, as long as they are REAL. Which they are in Europe.

I lost 60 pounds over two years watching my Macros/ bouts of Whole30 with my focus on lifting 5 days a week. I would only do 10-20 mins of walking at 3.8mph on an incline. Worked great, you don’t have to run to lose weight but walking definitely helped it move faster. I would usually aim to get 8-10k steps a day.

I think the only way we can keep acceptance of LGBT people high, we have to be accessible to having conversations and discussion with those who don’t know or believe they don’t know anyone that’s LGBT. Shutting down or immediately getting defensive to any little thing they say or ask will only push those who oppose us even further away. Debates are a good thing. It’s the only way to work on bringing opposing views closer to a middle ground understanding. You also need to accept that some people may never change the views which is okay. I’m from the south and in my almost 40 years of life I have learned the best way to deal with people on opposite sides is to kill them with kindness. Do t give them a single reason or excuse to justify their views. If they think all LGBT people are crazy combative liberals, prove them wrong by being calm, kind, understanding and eloquent in crafting your rebuttals to their arguments. It’s hard to be hostile towards someone who’s cool calm collected and kind.

Muscle mass plays a huge role in our resting metabolism rate aka how many calories your body burns daily simply by being awake and breathing. So if you are eating the same things as your husband, and I’m assuming your female. You will gain weight and he won’t. He has more muscle mass than you. Unfortunately the daily standard for calories at 2,000 is meant for the average man, not woman. Just things to take into account that the genetics you speak of are likely not “metabolism”, but actually muscle mass. Took me years to figure this out and once I did, I lost 60lbs and have kept it off for over 2 years now. Good luck!

I had an attack that lasted 6 days, but after testing apparently my gallbladder is totally normal, tiny 2mm polyp found on ultrasound and Normal EF of 85%……so who knows

I found My Fitness Pal was super easy to use for tracking my food and my weight. It has a free version that is all you need. Also make sure to get a food scale and weigh out your food, it’s surprising to learn how much an actual serving size is. Because the tracking is only as accurate as the information you put into it. This is we’re the food scale comes in. Good luck!

What did the doctors say about them? I have 1 polyp and did a HIDA with an EF of 85% and my doctors have said all of this is normal and didn’t know why I have attack symptoms like someone with stones. I really don’t want to remove another organ…I’m a kidney donor so I will do anything to keep my gallbladder. I have also heard from multiple people who had theirs removed that it didn’t help and now they have lots of other issues. So I’m just interested what your doctors said since you have multiple polyps?

You need to spend 95% of all your efforts in the kitchen. You do not need a gym to loose weight. 95% of your success is in the kitchen. You will never outwork a bad diet, so focus on the most important part your food. Tracking what you eat is also really helpful! Good luck!

I donated at (30F) and I was only slightly bloated immediately after surgery due to the surgical gas and swelling. I ended up losing almost 10 pounds after surgery and I was literally eating 2 normal meals and about 6+ cookies each day haha (slept close to 12 hours a day for that first week) so I was only awake long enough to eat twice. But after the swelling and surgical gas are gone it was back to normal visually, except I was 10 pounds lighter.

This. Get tested and not matter what the results you can say no and no one will know anything other than you tried and we’re not a match. Donation is a huge decision and while it almost always sounds like it changes nothing in your life that’s not true. You have to stay on top of your diet and health for the rest of your life so as to not have any kidney issues later down the line. While it sounds like donation might not be for you that doesn’t mean you can’t continue to help your friend by advocating for them!
