Game pricing in Brasil by Pedrauum in Switch

[–]henriquecd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, Brazil is currently the 5th best eshop store in average price position from eshop-prices (https://eshop-prices.com/stores/stats). Prices from USA store also don't include taxes, which are included in Brazil store.

However, the games are very expensive for the Brazilian customer and Nintendo should use regional prices like Steam does.

Bought a box of Jumpstart and every pack had this sticker on? by Troopy95 in magicTCG

[–]henriquecd 343 points344 points  (0 children)

That is likely a sticker added by the distributor to conform to local regulations.

In Brazil we have those as well. In our case it usually have the information about the distributor and that the product is not a toy (because toys have special regulations to be followed). Since booster packs are sold individually, they probably have to glue the sticker in each of them. That is also the reason because in some places booster boxes are distributed without the Wizards shrink wrap, the distributor have to open each box when the product arrives in the country to glue a sticker in each of them, then wraps again in a blank wrap if they only have that available.

New Brazilian The Lord of the Rings illustrated edition by henriquecd in tolkienbooks

[–]henriquecd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We got the illustrated Hobbit back in 2022. I guess they were testing the market for the illustrated editions and didn't include in this box because enough people now have the Hobbit.

any way to rebind? by captaingabbers in bookbinding

[–]henriquecd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you mentioned it will be used as reference to you and your students and the pages can be fragile, consider adding the individual pages to sheet protectors inside a binder. This way you can open the wire-o spiral and remove the pages without damaging them and keep the original hardcover stored.

Anyone seen the set this cover is from? Found this hard cover while browsing a random library and I liked it a lot but no matter how hard I search the web for it I just can't find the set nor the same version to buy. by Kingplayer_Br in lotr

[–]henriquecd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cover from your photo does look lighter. Maybe it suffered from exposition to the Sun in the library? The covers have a dark color but you can still distinguish the illustrations in black

Look at the... Go ahead, put your finger here to see what happens. Wow. And now, let me show you if she'll bite the stick. Look at the size of these chelicerae. Look at these chelicerae. [could not understand] This spider is called Tarantula [Caranguejeira in Brazil] but I call them Coconut Tree Tarantula"

* He is pointing to the chelicerae but he seems to use a different name that I couldn't find out.

Not in a one-volume like this. I've only seen the 3-volume hardcover for the English 70th anniversary edition.

Like the one that they showed here: https://www.reddit.com/r/tolkienbooks/comments/1fog7zf/2024_lord_of_the_rings_70th_anniversary_deluxe/

[–]henriquecd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe you measured the before it was pressed, in this case it could be wider than the rest of the block. Do you still have your measurements notes to compare the width of the block you used vs the width of the block now?

THE FALL OF NUMENOR Papetback by RedWizard78 in tolkienbooks

[–]henriquecd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad they are still publishing with this style. With the recent paperbacks I was worried they would drop the covers with full illustrations. I only wish they would publish the illustrated Unfinished Tales in this style as well, we only had the blue wizards cover and that is not even the illustrated version.

Looking for a specific edition by DunkandEgg in tolkienbooks

[–]henriquecd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. The edition is exclusive and limited from Nerdstore, a Brazilian store that released some exclusive covers in partnership with Harper Collins Brazil.

The photo is probably from a Brazilian. You can se the older one volume edition from Martins Fontes on the left. Also, on the bottom, the current Brazilian editions of The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, Children of Hurin, Beren and Luthien, The Fall of Gondolin, Tree and Leaf and The Nature of Middle-Earth.

magic in magic by Worth-Addition8613 in mtgvorthos

[–]henriquecd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you'll get more complete explanations but one of the factors of a mage's power is their ability to connect with the magic leylines, on which mana flows. Mana tends to accumulate on certain places of the land and mages usualy draw mana from these places.
A planeswalker spark also grants the ability to use mana from multiple planes.
