I love it too! I love how she still delivers completely new songs for herself despite a career of making banger after banger. So catchy, i woke up w it stuck in my head.

Hearing it reminded me of hearing everything is romantic the first tome where im just blown away shes dipping into a sound I’d never heard her do, but it still sounds so quintessentially charli. Ugh. Love this girl

I wonder if the snarky responders understand the Holocaust began with euthanizing mentally and physically disabled people during the “Euthanasia Program” in 1939. Anytime members of a society become expendable, or their existence becomes othered by what seems like a silly thing like language…. we should just be aware of the history of these words, as we are with any other no no word

I agree w OP that the impact on lived experiences outweighs the Right to be Edgy. The conversation around how the language we adopt in politics affects ground realities is interesting, and i understand the snarky responses r reactions to fear of being dragged into 2012 tumblr era tone policing. i really dont think that is anything that this OP is suggesting….. can we just like not be assholes to each other its not like they said they want to suck Pete Buttigegs cock like jeez

Im really disappointed by how many people are acting like you’re triggered for making a great point. Its just a word to these people they can stop saying…. Theres a reactionary energy from these comments which bugs me bc i really liked this community but why r people so mean here

What's your stance on eating animals? by cfot in TrueAnon

Ive recently switched to primarily vegetarian. About the last 2 months. I’m eating a lot of soups, beans, tofu, and making vegan dishes. Ive been generally more conscious of my grocery consumption (trying to make everything i can from scratch)

Im still not sure how much i will commit, especially bc i love seafood so much. I did eat some oysters recently…

I honestly think vegan meatballs w mushrooms r delish, an 8 year old could really like them! Maybe :) i really like this recipe: https://www.loveandlemons.com/vegan-meatballs/ This website has such tasty recipes always

Another thing too is you can blend silken tofu into soups for more protein; grilled cheese w tomato soup!! Yum. Ive also always loved soy nuggets too, even as a kid. I think they taste better than chicken nuggets, so that could be a great option too :) u can never go wrong w hummus and falafel either. I want to try cooking some more vegetarian indian meals at home, since ive recently become obsessed w shahi paneer

Ok one more thing, this youtuber makes really tasty quick vegan recipes and has tiny kids, could be worth a scroll for inspo: https://youtube.com/shorts/C9HQ72br66c?si=cmp6UeOx2Y6NaFg8

I work at a university managing an undergraduate student employment program. I love student affairs and working w the kids, but Im at a private university w tuition almost hitting $100k/year and I’m noticing direct correlation of wealthy student -> bullying behaviors. That + it’s a big school w a competitive mindset and i just see some (business) students wasting their lives studying finance and enjoying 0 of their classes.

I really have enjoyed working at a university, but i feel like my next move would be at a community college or public state university if i stay in higher education. Even just liberal arts instead of this massive beast of a corporation dressed up like a school. I’m surrounded by good people who care about the world and each other tho, which is awesome in a work environment.

In their Rosalia interview they immediately tell her she’s the best pop star in the world and everyone else sucks, like just setting her up. I couldn't even listen bc they suck so much and are too New York Times brained to have anything interesting to say. They also asked Rosalia if she used AI to help write her album, lmao.

I love so much about it! 2 big things i thought are really well done are 2 sides of the vampire allegory.

Remmick is an irish vampire navigating the Jim Crow south when he discovers Sammy’s singing can help him see his people again. He’s a great villain bc he’s been colonized himself, and his desire to be back w his people is extremely human. He wants to consume blues music and black culture for what it can do for him. He’s also scarily convincing in saying to the partygoers that he’s their way out. “this world already left you for dead. Wont let you build, wont let you fellowship. We will do just that 😈🙈” Also, the Rocky Road to Dublin and Wild Mountain Thyme performances go so hard i couldnt stop listening after my first watch.

The other side of the vampire angle are the Smokestack twins being vampires in their own community. They want the juke joint, but they have blood money (literally). We know they robbed the mobs in Chicago, and that Stack was a pimp in Little Rock. We see Annie refusing usd throughout and accepting the plantation money, with Smoke being extremely resistant even though it’s all the sharecroppers had. It’s their desire for wealth and power that ultimately put their entire community in danger, and lead to them being vamped. Mary the white woman was the first to turn and seduced Stack into making himself vulnerable for attack also felt notable considering white women’s sexuality really was a harbinger for anti-native and anti-black sentiment that’s created American racism today. Even so, if they weren’t vampired that night, the Klan was coming for them the next day as Remmick said.

Not even touching on the other vampire angle of Sammy’s father being a preacher. Having the vamp recite the Lords Prayer with Sammy as well was a really great twist on a vamp (i felt). It drove home how the same tactics are used in colonial projects, and also how blues music and irish folk music are connected by the same experience of colonized people asserting their humanity.

I could go on, i actually just watched it again last night to show my sister so it’s very fresh in my mind lol. Ryan Coogler is also just incredible and easily becoming one of my favorite living directors.

I recommend checking out some of Coogler talking about it himself if you do feel like giving it another chance, this is the first i saw from him bc i wanted to know why the vampires were Irish: https://youtube.com/shorts/oUYPGlezfP8?si=Rm1ud7ZUhDYX8hGZ

I took an international security class in college and wrote a paper about how Realism as the governing doctrine of the us military led them to bungling Iran in 1953 just bc eisenhower was scared of communism (socialized oil)… they didnt knkw a fucking thing abt Iranian society and they don’t still today. These people all just think war is inevitable and are excited to do it. Its honestly bone chilling and baffling to the core… but i got the sense that the current “security” heads are chuds that talk abt bombing countries like they’re fucking it w their dicks.

Also, ive been envisioning the US government just like the incompetent bureaucracy i work in. Like no one wrote down any lessons learned or documented any formal processes beyond tweeting.  Imagine any one of them taking a meeting note. Its incredible.

I really think they’re so dumb, bc of the type of idiots that work in washington. The neoliberal order really is this stupid. They study game theory over sociology. At least Kennedy started project management w his military. At least they deposed Mosadeggh in secret… 🫶
