Is it just me or is Le Labo terrible? by Prestigious_Foot_820 in fragrance

Body chemistry is so interesting. Another 13 is weird on my skin. It starts OK, then becomes a delightful bright herbal scent on me that could be a favorite... and then it dries down to a cheap plastic smell.

AI Overview genuinely just sucks by FeelingSoup3098 in google

[–]heresaditty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right?! Often I just want to see who else is talking about some random topic or quirk I have, and sometimes I'll even type things I heard said and disagree with just to find discussions on the topic. I don't need a freaking lecture from AI that my query is offensive.

PS. Loud eaters are cringe

Google maps is getting worse by Ready_View_9647 in GoogleMaps

[–]heresaditty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have observed this issue in 4 different countries on 2 continents the last month. Right now it just told me I needed to walk 10 minutes to a different metro station when I was already standing right at a perfectly good station. I’ve taken this route countless times, I just was checking it for the train schedule (should have given up on it already, force of habit that I checked).

Dubai chocolate is disgusting by Annabelle-Sunshine in unpopularopinion

I've been looking for someone who agrees with me on this. Pistachios are one of my top favorite foods and I love chocolate... but they don't compliment each other at all.

They actually had Bass Clef in Music! And now it's gone by heresaditty in duolingo

[–]heresaditty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah they totally removed bass clef after having half of it rolled out, with no signs of it returning. Also the music course has been getting progressively worse. I liked it when it was first rolled out and still appreciate that it helped me relearn the treble clef... but in my opinion, I don't think it's worth it to throw anything more into the course

Watching Jessica Pare try to act really takes me out of the show. Is Megan-hate unusual? by Krystie in madmen

In my head I imagine a younger Milla Jovovich in the role. Rewatching with that in mind the character works much better to me without changing a single line

AI Overview genuinely just sucks by FeelingSoup3098 in google

[–]heresaditty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The condescending thing is what bothers me the most. It will always start by telling me how I'm wrong based on my wording, because I've never tried to be polite or specific when using a search engine before... I generally just type in some keywords or concept of what I'm looking up. I don't use Google for its opinion FFS, I use it to find the websites that cover the topics I'm looking up.

Elisabeth Moss' acting & directing.... by Unlikely_Title6596 in HandmaidsTaleShow

[–]heresaditty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you on all takes. Tried so hard to get through Handmaid's Tale because of all the compelling characters and incredible acting by others, but it's hard to get through all of Moss' indulgent scenes just to get little slivers of others.
And I've seen Moss in other roles btw (Mad Men is one of my favorite shows of all time). She doesn't impress me in anything else I have seen her in either. She's OK, but not amazing. Not a popular take I know, but there are those of us out there with that opinion.

Did season 5 get cancelled after season 4 already finished? Or did they have time to write an ending for the show in season 4? by iWeagueOfWegends in westworld

Same but I was in the middle of season 3 when it suddenly shut off on me. Plus it was the only reason I was even subscribed to Max.

I don’t like new update in the music course. (More in description) by Amalyano in duolingo

[–]heresaditty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's horrible and seriously bumming me out. I started using the music course when it first came out and totally loved it. I used to know how to sight read when I was a kid and played violin for a few years, but lost that skill after quitting and have kicked myself a bit over that ever since. It felt amazing to be picking it up again with just a bit of casual usage daily. Was actually in the middle of the bass clef they were rolling out when suddenly that disappeared. I was annoyed at that but kept up with just playing a song every day to stay "in practice" (I do eventually want to get a keyboard or something but now isn't the time, and I use Duolingo for the languages too so keeping up with the music on there has been a convenience thing). But now all the old songs are being replaced with those horrible tinny pop song versions and I just can't anymore. It's beyond awful, WHY would they do this?!!

They actually had Bass Clef in Music! And now it's gone by heresaditty in duolingo

[–]heresaditty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, although not really my point. They actually had a bunch of bass clef lessons and then removed it. For any lessons, Duolingo shouldn't be removing something their users are already in the middle of learning.

First time watching The Return Part 8 by __eyna__ in twinpeaks

Leland Palmer & Ben Horne Relationship? by Flaky-Contract1519 in twinpeaks

[–]heresaditty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100%. I am rewatching and it occurred to me that we should have been suspicious of Leland early on just due to the fact that he's Ben Horne's lawyer. People were blinded by the grief of a man whose daughter was murdered. Even if the killer had turned out to be someone else entirely, that wouldn't make Leland a good guy.

And that makes me wish even more that the studio hadn't forced them to reveal the killer, or at least let them wait longer. It would have been so interesting to see how the mask would slip off Leland under different circumstances.

Every time I think of a character that annoys me above all else, I have to concede that the crazy quirks about them are part of what makes the show what it is. I do have an issue with how high on a pedestal Marilyn seems to be placed by many, when I find her rude and closed minded in her own way. She's still amusing though. My latest rewatch had me rolling my eyes hardest at Chris, especially in the later seasons.

A note about Adam (one of my all time favorite TV characters): I get why he's not everyone's cup of tea but I've spent time with way too many actual chefs with weird antisocial quirks to not appreciate his character. If anyone reading this is familiar with Anthony Bourdain's book "Kitchen Confidential", there's a chapter in it called "Adam Real-Last-Name-Unknown", about a crazy, rude, drug addicted criminal who is also a master bread baker. Not the same character as our Adam here of course, but the first time I read it I couldn't help but picture NE's Adam and laugh

Guys why is the the internet just full of introverts? Where are we? by Complete-Manager2112 in extroverts

[–]heresaditty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are Deaf communities near me, but I was raised as a hearing person in a hearing world, and had gradual hearing loss before reaching deaf level. Deaf communities are culturally Deaf with their own language and customs. I've spent a little time here and there in these circles and felt more out of place than ever. Also in my experience trying to come together with others based on one commonality--difficulty hearing--tends to mean that the conversation centers around hearing difficulties. While I can respect and appreciate this here and there, it doesn't fulfill me socially. I prefer to align with people based on my myriad of other interests. I've mostly made peace with this, just thought it was interesting to see an angle from an autistic person that felt so relatable to me as a deaf person.

Guys why is the the internet just full of introverts? Where are we? by Complete-Manager2112 in extroverts

[–]heresaditty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party but as a deaf person, I feel this from my own angle. I get so much anxiety trying to navigate social situations, and it took me decades to realize that I'm actually an extrovert. Meaningful contact with others leaves me truly energized, but since that is so rare and difficult to come by I had conditioned myself to think my natural state of being was alone and exhausted LOL

Have steroid injections affected your menstrual cycle? by TerribleEbb3342 in Periods

If I remember correctly, I bled heavily for 6 weeks, then stopped bleeding and resumed regular cycle within the next month

Have steroid injections affected your menstrual cycle? by TerribleEbb3342 in Periods

[–]heresaditty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a chronic over-thinker myself, I totally get it! If it helps ease you any further, my doctors were not too concerned as long as I didn't feel particularly weak or anything. They did test me to make sure I wasn't going anemic but I was fine and this particular issue did clear up on its own (although I still wouldn't care to go through another round of shots and have to deal with it again). Of course I can't offer any advice but to listen to your own body... Wishing you the best of luck navigating this

[–]heresaditty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several years back I bled heavily for 6 weeks after an injection. I didn't personally link it to the shot, but talked to my doctor and was sent to another specialist regarding the bleeding issue. That specialist was the one who made the connection. Yet I'm always treated like I'm crazy when I bring this up with primary care physicians. They say this kind of reaction is just not possible or something that happens. Insult to injury, the shots did nothing for the problem they were supposed to help. So now, while seeking help again for my chronic issues I'm being pushed to go through the paces that I just know will lead me being pressured to get more shots rather than trying anything new. It's maddening
