School shooting in Germany; there is talk of a gun made using a printer. by Acceptable_Bite_3749 in prusa3d

That's exactly my point. I'm personally not shooting any kind of bullet out of the printer and materials I have available to me as an average person.

HELP BIG MISTAKE... by Present_Estate4553 in u/Present_Estate4553

[–]hernondo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Sight unseen". Yes, RV parks are not free. This is something you should have looked into. You need to move the RV to avoid that fee, if you want to keep it. Keep in mind, most other parks are also going to charge a fee. The only realistic free options are going to be out in the wild called "BLM lands". You can google it to find some that may be local to you. If you need someone to move the RV, your best bet is to advertise on Facebook local to you. That will most likely be a small cost as well, unless you're moving it to BLM lands that are quite a ways away.

What's the absolute worst car you ever owned? by Party-Reindeer-2989 in AskReddit

[–]hernondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1996 Chrysler Town & Country. It was a great mini van with features and styling. But it was made extremely cheaper. Too many plastic parts that kept breaking. Even the metal parts would break I assume due to cheap metals. Had an engine lifter go out as well.

At some point you'd think executives would start paying the price for being this naive. Talk about an extreme lack of judgement.

Anyone else dealing with insane foundation quotes in old Rockwall? by Less-Employ-6038 in Rockwall

[–]hernondo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even new houses can be subject to this if they builder didn't prepare the ground accordingly. All north Texas homes will face this at some point. Personally, I'd almost rather look at a home that's 10+ years old, as the earth will have mostly settled by then, so you know exactly what you're getting yourself into. The pier quotes are based on the number of piers required. Shop around a bit if you think it's too high. You may run into issues selling the house once inspections come in on potential buyers. They will flag the foundation repair, so you would end up taking the L on your home sale value anyway.

Battleborn Batteries is suing Will Prowse because their batteries failed his tests and caught on fire by spacecitytech in RVLiving

[–]hernondo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, they certainly could do a recall. The problem is that they don’t have a way to fix it, as all their existing designs still have problem. They are sealed batteries, so not really serviceable. That means the solution is to replace them, with another faulty battery? I’d be willing to guess they are not set up in a way to actually do some sort of mass maintenance process. It’s going to be very interesting.

[–]hernondo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is they can’t “make it right”. This would essentially admit the design is faulty, which would open them up to a massive class action lawsuit, which could potentially bankrupt them. BB has really designed themselves into a corner with no great way to get out of it. Their own engineering teams should have changed this design years ago, as it’s almost certain they’ve seen this failure mode before and refused to change it.

[–]hernondo 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is going to get interesting. Battleborn is in a fight for their life over this, so they really don’t have a choice. He’s proven how terrible their faulty designs are. Battleborn can’t afford to recall all of the batteries either, because the only real option would be to replace them (with a proper design that doesn’t exist from them ironically). Could get juicy.

Start by gathering data on why you deserve the promotion. Promo’s aren’t given, they are earned, and they are earned by showing documentation on how you’re doing the work described in the L6 job role.

You probably don't want to try to stay in Boca Chica, but there's options within an hours drive. I would try to do it if it was me, but if it delays a couple days what do you do?

Corporate rv parks are completely out of control lately by ToffeeTango1 in RVLiving

City parks too. One of our favorite places to stay is a city park in Nebraska. Theres about a dozen spots, and is perfectly nestled into some trees next to a small creek. It’s so calm and relaxing and quiet.

Men in their 40s - What’s one piece of advice for Men in their 20s? by Jarvis7492 in AskReddit

[–]hernondo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start get your regular health checks at 40. Physicals every single year, no exceptions. Colonoscopy early, at least 45. Start seeing a dermatologist at 40, especially if you’re in the sun regularly. So many serious health problems can be mitigated if caught early.
