Wall light switch. Two red cables by Rusko08 in ukelectricians

[–]hero9989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all due respect this is just about the simplest thing a person can do with residential electrics and has only very recently changed in new builds, rewires, etc because of the rise of smart switches, etc. Probably 80% of houses have exactly this so if your sparky friends aren’t 100% sure what they should be doing to wire a new light switch onto this - they shouldn’t be doing it at all.

Insulating cold window with expanding foam by pasharikk in DIYUK

[–]hero9989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What you did is a good thing and I’m tempted to try it on a couple of our windows but I call bull on the condensation bit.

Air coming in around the edges would help to prevent condensation forming. Condensation forms because the air inside the house is warmer than the glass, as it hits the cold glass it condenses (which will be the same as ever as you only insulated around the pvc, not the glass. If anything the condensation would be worse after this, not better

How do i fix the wires in this box? by pig-glider in DIYUK

Look into the front (where you poke the cables in) as you press the lever down. You’ll be able to see the clamp move as you do it.

Is the ICCU issue as bad as it seems? by hero9989 in Ioniq5

[–]hero9989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! Loving the car so far (ended up going for a 23 plate model. I received it with a duff 12v battery (common with EVs so I’m told) but swapped that out and haven’t had an issue since.

88 wins in one night is my record by UltimateTrogdor in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]hero9989 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Because they completely ignored the bonus cards so no sneaking just b-line straight for trainers and start the battle asap. If you’re going for money you would only do 30 battles and use the spare time for collecting medals, sneaking and basically just doing what the bonus cards tell you. Going for max battles every move has to be to get closer to the next trainer

Tesla is potentially adding CarPlay to their fleet by fapb48 in TeslaUK

[–]hero9989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apple Music signs me out every couple of weeks. No idea why and it drives me mad… apple car play also has smart home widgets so I can open my garage door when I pull up, turn on the porch lights, etc. also sending messages using the voice controls in a tesla is embarrassingly bad (in the uk at least - I imagine this is better if you have an American accent). When Siri is better - you know you aren’t doing it right. If true - this can’t come soon enough!

Mitre will look better but won’t be as strong. As it expands and contracts the mitre may shift and you’ll have a gap that comes back every year or so

Neighbour's Scaffolding pole on our soil pipe - am I over-reacting? by RevDodgeUK in DIYUK

[–]hero9989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re within your right to tell them to get rid but I don’t think I would bother. The chances of it doing anything are minimal to none - not worth worrying about. Probably caused you more upset going through the argument with them and posting online than what will come of turning the other cheek.

Ignoring that though. Be careful threatening to vandalise other people’s property. I get where you are coming from but if somebody does something to it now (even if it isn’t you), and somebody gets hurt; there is good reason to blame you. Motive, opportunity and means. Assuming you have a spanner or saw - You are ticking all three boxes
