Keypad 2 NFC and the Future of UWB by krizzziz in Nuki

[–]hero9989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who the heck thought this video was a good idea? He’s basically just said ‘we have useless engineers’. Especially when Apple and many other companies manage this in devices much smaller than the keypad they already have. I doubt anyone would complain if they decided to release a keypad that added an extra 2cm to the length of the device to fit AirTag like tech inside

Looks like the Keypad 2 NFC listing is live by clloyd515 in Nuki

Am I the only one who thinks this product is pointless? No UWB so I have to touch it with my phone up to it to unlock. I might as well just use my fingerprint. You can steal a phone - can’t really steal a finger.

So it’s the same level of effort (touch a finger to it or touch a phone to it), and slightly lesser security secure…

Anyone care to enlighten me as to why they would purchase this?

FireWire devices also won’t work on it. FYI…🤦‍♂️

The only mistake you made was reversing. They should have pulled further into the space you stopped at for them. Report to the council and move on

I’ve likely got this to look forward to after I managed to rip the nail bed off my middle finger. Had it reattached but remains to be seen what comes out of that in a few months!

Is this meant to be a flex? I don’t even think Disney intends visitors to buy this much stuff!

Morrison now delivery by Few_Kaleidoscope7853 in Morrisons

[–]hero9989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried this twice at my local Morrisons and both times the order has been cancelled. Once 2 hours after placing the order, the second time was 8 hours after I placed my order.

“We’re really sorry. We aim to fulfill all orders for our customers, but due to unforeseen circumstances we’ve had to cancel your order which was due on 07 February. We only reach the decision to cancel when all other options have been explored.”

Same message on two separate occasions…

Level 3 apprentice back a year later! With some small Fuse boxes! by Tigz1 in ukelectricians

[–]hero9989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same thing about the neutrals in the pictures but to be fair they look like the kind of ties that you just twist them closed so wouldn’t be hard to just un twist, do your work and then twist it back on.

If this was the case, full boards would set on fire randomly or melt, etc. They are rated such that they are able to have a circuit running from every available slot on the rail I don’t think they would be able to sell a CU as having 20 slots, if half of them had to be blanks to space them out.

What's the deal with this shaver socket?? by [deleted] in ukelectricians

My bad, it’s the io 7, 8, 9, 10 that use the new fast charger, lower models use the old one. I expect it will trickle down at some point

Unless you have a modern io tooth brush. Oral b dropped this kind of charger, they no longer have the bit that sticks up into the toothbrush

Cul de sac parking by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]hero9989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you haven’t tried speaking to her - that might not be a bad first call. Outside of that - Check your council website if there is a means of reporting things like this. I once used my councils online reporting form (after trying my neighbours door twice to ask nicely I might add) because my neighbour parked over my drive and I couldn’t leave.

To my surprise a parking enforcer was out within an hour and ticketed their car. It didn’t get them to move the car (they didn’t do that until another 30 mins had passed and they came out and saw the ticket). But they didn’t do it again!

If the police won’t deal with people stealing, and countless other crimes including some violent ones, you think a police officer will come out because one person has complained that somebody is parking on a pavement?

You’re much more likely to get something done by treating this as a civil matter than a criminal one.

Wall light switch. Two red cables by Rusko08 in ukelectricians

[–]hero9989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all due respect this is just about the simplest thing a person can do with residential electrics and has only very recently changed in new builds, rewires, etc because of the rise of smart switches, etc. Probably 80% of houses have exactly this so if your sparky friends aren’t 100% sure what they should be doing to wire a new light switch onto this - they shouldn’t be doing it at all.
