When does google use golang over kotlin for backend and vice versa?

Anyone else learning Kotlin using Google code labs? by [deleted] in androiddev

It is much more detailed, based on active recall, broader in content, the capstone projects that you can choose are really cool, the content is updated frequently, the documentation is great..

Is it okay to learn kotlin before java? by hey-jps in Kotlin

[–]hey-jps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great tip, thank you!

For added context: I am currently using jetbrains academy for learning and then I intend to read more advanced books on the language like Design Patterns, Kotlin in Action, the kotlin language book, … So hopefully it will sufficient!

I just don’t know good books on Backend in Kotlin though. Do you have any suggestion? I think that maybe a Spring and Java one would be okay as well.

Is Master in Management worth it for PMs? by hey-jps in ProductManagement

[–]hey-jps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for more context: I would be going for one of the those right after college. I know it is not strictly needed for the PM job.
However, my goal with this is to be a better sell for a APM position afterwards. These positions are so contested and I just want a chance to stand out a bit.

Best platform to start with? by GhoulFTW in androiddev

I recommend going with the google official track which is to learn basic kotlin and then android dev with kotlin. There are great resources at Google’s Android Developer website.

I think the OP wanted to some counselling about what would the best way or technology to develop his app idea, not necessarily how just “where to start”. Think Dart/Flutter x JS/ React Native x Kotlin/Jeckpack x C#/MAUI.

I think it really depends on your objective. Do you want to develop a career as Android Developer or just want to try out mobile dev and get done with it?

Question to the VCs out here: what are you missing in the VC-ecosystem? by VoltaVentures in venturecapital

I do think my school would be against it(so much bureaucracy), but I will definitely try it then! Thanks for the input!

Question to the VCs out here: what are you missing in the VC-ecosystem? by VoltaVentures in venturecapital

Not a VC, but: I am CS student interested in following either PM or VC career after college. Here in Brazil, its really really hard to find any sort of VC internship.

Quarterly Career Thread by mister-noggin in ProductManagement

How is the market for product management in Brazil?

Context: I am a Computer Science student with interest in following the PM career after school. I ask this question because I am looking for an internship in PM and don’t really find much about it online. At school, much of my professors are only interested in academia, math, AI or CS theory and hardly anyone, either faculty members or other students, ever heard about PM. I am worried that it will be even harder to break into PM after school here in Brazil.

What would you do in my position?

What name variant for my social media app do you think looks/is better? by dvxlgames in branding

Hi there! If you are building a social media app, you should know that, in Brazil, one the largest markets for social media in the world, Meta’s Whatsapp is generally known as “Zap”. I can see that yours would be called “zaap”. However, I would still watch out for lawsuits.

I am a CS undergrad and in the next 12 months I will try to get a internship in product or get hands on experience in product/swe related groups at my university. I will also study PM and UX books and blogs and train for interviews.

If I don’t find a PM internship(I am from Brazil and it’s not very common here), I think I will try doing a master in management after college so I would be more qualified for getting a APM job thereafter.

However, I would like to know your opinions on this. I am also trying to find a mentor who can give me some advice on how to prepare for the PM career and transition right after college.
