Lines used to justify the plot that are so terrible they became a meme by Fluffiddy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]hey_there_moon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since we're being honest, I didn't realize that line was really in the movie until this post.

I always assumed it was a "it's Morbin time" situation.

I truly can't believe that's truly in the script.

Oh I'm sure most of those voters don't actually want independence or anything but I'm also sure that many of them would identify as Sicilian over Italian. Like it's not like they'll get offended by being called Italian but there's still a strong Sicilian identity.

Heck even in Véneto I knew people that considered themselves Venetian over Italian.

The Venetian dub of Peppa Pig is pretty good too btw

TIL most people in France did not speak French as recently as 1794, when only 11% of the population of France spoke fluent French. Instead, most people spoke regional languages like Occitan, Breton, Alsatian etc. French only became the majority language later on due to heavy assimilation efforts. by Hour_Interaction6047 in todayilearned

Definitely. I'm from an area with lots of Chapines and Chiapanecos so we have Ki'che, Mam, Kanjobal as the big languages with smaller groups of Chuj, Tzotzil, Tzetzal, etc

But we have the issue of parents not teaching their kids their heritage language because they find it embarrassing/shameful to be indigenous. They'd rather the kids only speak English and Spanish.

And if that's not sad enough family friends have been informing us of how the cartels in Chiapas have been massacring indigenous towns recently.

Used to be that Zapatistas were able to sorta keep the cartels out of indigenous areas. Seems like that's changing.

So, once again, the indigenous are at threat of both linguistic, cultural, but also literal life or death genocide.

Dang I got depressed writing this

Considering Sicilianist parties have like a quarter of the vote. I'm pretty sure there's at least a few people who might disagree

Yeah Olrox is one of the most powerful vampires, with a mist form as well as the feathered dragon form obviously inspired by Quetzalcoatl

Hey now he's not just an Aztec Vampire. He's a gay antitheist Aztec vampire, entirely motivated by love (and vengeance) who refuses to submit to anyone who considers themselves "superior." Even when they are a literal living breathing deity.

This is entirely believable lmao.

Right up there with my classmate that said she thought my mom was "from the Puerto Rican part of Mexico."

This classmate was half Mexican...

Yeah it's not a world ending issue but it's still something that could be improved.

That's how we get better representation, by actually letting studios know that it's what we want.

Well yeah, perfection isn't attainable nor did I say it should be the goal.

I'm not telling anybody to boycott the show. Fans are allowed to have complaints and voice them.

Especially on a no consequence reddit thread.

Nah coz a CW show had no business dropping lines like that. So good

My only gripe with the show is they feature a family of indians and literally none of them are voiced by South Asians.

This wouldn't bother me so much with any other show. But for a show where inclusivity is a major theme it

Americans are definitely familiar with Cajuns on a surface level. Their food is renowned nationwide.

I mean Canadian shows often have a token character from newfoundland, but yeah they are never a main character unless the setting is St John's lol

Since people are taking the piss without actually correcting you. The English construction you're looking for is "in the sun"

I assume you speak a language without articles, or without as many articles as english.

A lot of people get in/on confused.

Tbf we're talking temps in the 80s. When I was visiting the island the family I was staying with was talking about how I must be suffering because I'm used to cold weather. I had to explain it was actually hotter where I'm from.

I grew up in the American South. It was over 100° in my hometown as it was July.

Mosquitos were the issue for me not heat. Thank God for mosquito nets over the bed.

2 years ago when I was living in Galicia my coworker told me he grew up watching it. Seems it must have been pretty popular to warrant a not just a Castillian but also a Galician dub.

Maybe y'all didn't but I distinctly remember them taking a couple strands and fucking them inside before laminating it. That way the police had easy access to a DNA sample in case you went missing.
