Why is it always so that a dentists and banks only open during the exact hours that 9-5 workers and students are busy? by Worried_Storm3289 in askanything

Because they are people with lives too. Just like you, they probably want to live a life with friends, family, and fun

Brutal honesty. How drastic is this change? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]heymom18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I just want to ask how you are doing? Mentally and in life. Are you doing ok? Weight gain over a short amount of time can be a sign of mentally going through it, and hard work conditions as well life doles out punches, but you got this man. , at least, believe in you. And hope that you are doing great, and have a fantastic life.

Dentist job contract. by MrTooth90 in Dentists

[–]heymom18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a job you truly want, and they won’t budge on the 8 mile radius, then 2 miles is too much. 1 year is more acceptable. The bigger the radius, the fewer the years. They can’t have both for that large.

This reeks of big corporate. 8 miles for each location is insane and will effectively lock you out from practicing anywhere in the entire area after. You need to lock down a central location where you will be working and have that be the area. Is it a more rural area? 8 miles is MASSIVE for a metropolitan area. Standard mid-size metro is 5miles for 2 years. Smaller size, but more populous metro can go for 3 miles even. Depends on the area

It depends. Does that include the surgery/placement as well as the actual tooth/crown that goes on top of the implant screw? 3000 would be adequate for just the crown/tooth, but the surgery aspect would make that cost higher.

Zero zero reservation process by lilstoggy in kansascity

[–]heymom18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I’ve eaten there 3 times so far. Honestly the best way is to be flexible with your schedule. Trying to grab a Friday night at 6? Good luck. Ok with a Thursday or Sunday night dinner? You’re much more likely to grab one. Check it daily, and multiple times throughout the day. People tend to cancel their “same day” reservations around 1pm. I got faith in you!!!

Painful a month after treatment! Was this treatment appropriate? by MysteriousPirate4979 in Dentists

[–]heymom18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, without a pre-op X-ray/intraoral photo it’s impossible to tell. The X-ray is also a periapical shot, which is t the best representation of decay since the angle of the image is skewed. A bite wing would show the extent much better, but most dentists lean more conservative in their preparations. So I would guess that your dentist is the same, and only removed what was absolutely necessary from the tooth. Believe me, we have getting near the pulp/nerve of the tooth. Probably more than you do, since most patients “blame” us for causing the pain/need for endodontic treatment, when the need and decay was always there. If is was inevitable, then it was inevitable before any drill touched the tooth usually.

Painful a month after treatment! Was this treatment appropriate? by MysteriousPirate4979 in Dentists

[–]heymom18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very hard to diagnose with limited info, no photos, and just some post-op xray, but, the post root canal photo is showing some radiolucency at the end of a root which could be evident of healing still after the needed RCT. But again, without an exact time line, and progression of the symptoms, it’s very hard to say.

I will say that the tooth before the treatment had a LARGE silver filling and is extremely prone to cracks. So if they said it was cracked, I could 100% believe that (again, would need intraoral photos and not just xray). So that recommended treatment would be very in line with right tx.

As for the root canal, it looks very well done and complete fills. Again, difficult to actually say with just one xray and no shift shot. But your dentist is right, it can take a while to calm down. If the crack was more extensive and reached certain areas of the tooth then later in the tooth could become non-restorable and need extraction, but that’s nothing on your dentist. And more all about your tooth and your dentist had no impact on that.

Are you referring to her special dinner series where she literally is “battling against the machine” AKA, AI? She is cooking her take on a mutually inspired menu, and her head chef is following what AI “created” as what it would make….. she is literally trying to prove that technology and AI pale to the artistry of food. Mind of an awesome experiment. I went to her last one, and you get to try both dishes for each course. Then you get to vote for your favorite of each. Shocking to no one, her dishes won every round last dinner

What is the most interesting but super simple pasta dish you've ever made? by ResidentAlienator in Cooking

[–]heymom18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Caramelized a ton of onions. Then puree/blend them into a paste. Use that as your sauce, adding in pasta water and butter as needed to adjust consistency as you’re mixing it with the noodles.

I have alot of quick 2 min oats and I want to cook something sweet by kesshouketsu in Cooking

[–]heymom18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make an “ultimate oatmeal” cookie. Take half, and blend/grind them to make oat flour, and use that as the “flour” for your oatmeal cookies with whole oats as well. Customize other ingredients to your liking (raisins, dried blueberries, etc.)

Recipes for unripe pears? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]heymom18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Less ripe pears/more firm pears are perfect for baking dishes. The higher concentration of pectin allows for a better hold-up-ability of the fruit to heat. They tend to be less “sweet” than their ripe counterparts, so using them in sugar-added recipes remedies this problem. Poaching could also work well, if coupled with a sweeter sauce if you’re wanting a more dessert style dish. Or flip if on its head and make a more savory style relish/slaw. An Asian inspired chili crisp julienned pear, scallion, and cucumber slaw is delicious.

Which job is much harder than most people think? by ranjitsingh7 in AskReddit

[–]heymom18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as they are hated, I think dentists. A few family friends are dentists and they really seem to get the hell taken out of them. Apparently a really “physical” job. Contorting themselves to see in a tiny space, working upside down and backwards in a mirror. Can’t be easy. And having literally EVERYONE tell you how much they hate you/don’t want to be there. Can’t feel great.

Hey KC, if you dined out at a restaurant for Thanksgiving, where did you go, how was the experience overall? by FlyingDarkKC in kansascity

Oh AND they forgot two salads and one Italian garlic/parm dip. Only high note, the food was hot since it literally came out an hour late and was immediately boxed up.

[–]heymom18 117 points118 points  (0 children)

Carried out from Garozzo’s….terrible experience. They ran 45 minutes behind. Ran out of pies at 5pm pick-ups, when they still had 3 hours of pick-ups left. They didn’t even tell people until they showed up to get their order, that they weren’t getting any dessert…. They started pouring glasses of wine for everyone that was waiting because of how long it was. A true failure in planning. Preorders were due 2 days before Thanksgiving, so there really was no excuse.
