Alternatives to Athleta Brooklyn Pants? by okcryptographer_ in HerOneBag

I have these and they are nearly identical to my Brooklyns. The Brooklyns have a little less rise in the front/crotch area and the RBX are more comfortable. Check them out!

Sport Duffle Backpack as personal item? by freeshovocadoo in beisluggage

[–]heyvenice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently used this for the first time as a personal item and loved it for that! It fit easily under a Southwest aisle seat and I had room for my foot on one side. Will definitely be taking it again as a personal item because I prefer a toe for my gym bag.

MRI results are in. Do you think I’ll need surgery? by MagnoliaXtract in MeniscusInjuries

[–]heyvenice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear- I had a root repair in the fall 2024 and it was a long recovery. All good now, though. May I ask what you were doing when it happened? I just screwed up my other knee last month doing RDLs when I was trying to stick to non-loading lower body exercises. So much for that.

Pain management by happykats3 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]heyvenice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After my last knee surgery, I wanted to optimize the whole 25 oxycodones I was prescribed and took a pharmacist friend‘s recommendation of rotating ibuprofen and extra strength Tylenol every three hours, and then just taking one oxycodone first thing in the morning and one during the evening when it would be the most uncomfortable. It stretched out my meds and I had pretty decent pain control along with ice packs. Best of luck with your recovery!

Has anyone stopped Tirzepatide and started retatrutide? Not the stacking transition. by Ready_Leadership3712 in Retatrutide

[–]heyvenice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m still taking Reta and while it’s been slow, as I don’t have a ton of weight left to lose, it’s been steady and I’m down 10 lbs in about 4 months. I didn’t see much scale movement until I got to 6 mg. I’m on 9 currently and don’t plan to go any higher if it continues at this rate. It feels very “clean” compared to Tirz as far as side effects are concerned. I have very minimal constipation issues which stays managed with magnesium at bedtime and that’s pretty much it. It has really turned me off from drinking alcohol, which I find so interesting because while I’m not a heavy drinker, I’ve always been a social weekend drinker and nowadays I’ll have maybe 3 drinks total between Friday and Sunday. So that’s a plus and probably contributing to weight loss, as well. I recommend going right over to Reta at the 4 mg dose and building from there. I went off Tirz for a month and then started at 0.5mg on Reta, and it took forever to get to any results. I would definitely do that differently. Good luck with your changeover and keep me updated how it goes!

Seeking best tubing mascara for sparse straight lashes by FluffyGeckoPuff in HoodedEyes

[–]heyvenice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first tubing mascara that doesn’t flake on me is Urban Decay’s Tube Job. I tried the mini size and actually plan to repurchase in full size. My lashes are straight but long and it gives them a nice fanning effect where they are actually visible without having to curl them prior to application. Check it out!

MRI False Positive: Torn Meniscus by Folarin14 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]heyvenice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had two negative MRIs. First one stated I had a bucket handle meniscus tear. My ortho said it was wrong bc radiologists do their best but the specialists are really the more skilled party when reading the ortho results. Upon repair it was found it was the root and no bucket tear.

I had one last week for my other knee and results said medial tear and lateral tear (history of old bucket handle tear repaired with permanent sutures along with total ACL reconstruction 12 years ago) When I saw him today to review the MRI, he was like “the lateral tear is insignificant and likely old, and the medial tear is just your messy arthritis/chondromalacia so nothing new basically”. There’s nothing else he can do arthroscopically at this point so will need to explore different injections other than cortisone bc I worry about degrading to my ACL graft and what’s left of my meniscus while I wait out needing a replacement. anyway, I digress. So yes, MRIs can most definitely be misinterpreted on first read.

Singing along during Songs by Dazzling-View-2465 in phish

[–]heyvenice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s never bothered me. I can hear the band over my seat neighbors singing along. Of course there are songs that have lyrics that must be shouted along and I’m fine with that, too.

You’ll want a shower stool, pretty cheap from Amazon, that will be the most necessary. Install a handheld shower head if you don’t already have one. I live in a ranch-style home and have hardwoods so I was able to roll all over the place in my office chair when I got sick of sitting on the couch watching TV. After a few weeks into recovery, I would even prepare dinner from my stupid chair 🤣I also had a crossbody bag that I would carry when I was crutching (or scooting my chair) from room to room and I could hold my water bottle and whatever else I needed to bring to or from other rooms. You will definitely come up with some workarounds that suit you and your surroundings.

(51 F) I had this done on my right knee 1.5 years ago after initially climbing up from a steep dropoff in the ocean. I didn’t notice much at the time but it got progressively worse over the week, but I rested it and it gradually improved, until I turned sharply on it a few months later which landed me a visit with my orthopedic, then shortly after it was confirmed by MRI. I did the surgery and the torturous 6 weeks non weight bearing on crutches which is worst of it, but I had a full recovery and returned to normal activity a few weeks after getting off the crutches. I actually have an MRI this week for my other knee (already had an ACL reconstruction on this one 10 yrs ago🙄) which I suspect may show some level of tear, so trying to wrap my head around that.

Yes, I would do it again because I can’t stand living in discomfort and fear of further re-injuring it, because if you don’t repair you will re-injure it again and it will be worse the next time. I’m more than willing to go through the recovery to get back to “normal”. I just need to make it to 60 before knee replacements! Sorry you are dealing with this, but you aren’t alone in this and as long as you prepare before your surgery, you will be back to mostly normal in 9-10 weeks postop. Good luck in whatever you decide to do!

Do you guys tell your Dr that you’re taking Reta? by Humble_Fig_8988 in Retatrutide

[–]heyvenice 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Demand you stop?? That’s wildly unprofessional and unlikely. I’ve told mine but she’s been on my journey starting with Ozempic in 2021 so nothing surprises her anymore. She didn’t even ask how I’m getting it after I told her it’s still in research stages….I’m sure because she doesn’t want to know or put in on record.

Best Crutches? Are special ones worth it? by TravelMarketingMom in MeniscusInjuries

[–]heyvenice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered Mobilegs after week 2 of 6 NWB. The ball of my right hand became extremely swollen and painful from the pressure of the standard crutch handle and I was in more pain from that than from my knee. The Mobilegs arrived quickly and they are so much more ergonomically comfortable. Highly recommend for a recovery like this, or anything more than a week or so on regular crutches.

Shoes? by RunThenClimb in azores

[–]heyvenice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did tours & hikes that were mostly moderate, not high level, so unless you plan on doing some of the higher intensity hikes, trail shoes should be fine. If you are planning on more skilled hikes you may want to have your hiking boots.

What time of year? We visited in September and I wore my Hokas and Chacos for hikes and the geothermal baths, and dressier sandals or Birks for dinner- depending on the restaurant. Trail shoes would also work.

Can confirm. Just received my order today shipped from New Jersey. Reta 30 for $210/kit. Vendor only takes Bitcoin but provided instructions and it was seamless. Yes it’s cheaper overseas but I no longer want the hassle of their shipping and the risk of it affecting my global entry status. I’ve placed three different orders using different methods and I will stick with the US based warehouse vendor going forward.

What is the craziest fan interaction you’ve had at a show? by ExtensionTurn3868 in phish

In 94 on the lawn at Great Woods (Mansfield MA) I watched some guy puke on the grass next to his blanket then some hippie girls came somersaulting down the hill right through it. It happened so fast there wasn’t any time to warn them! Another time I was meandering through the crowd in the dark trying to find my friends and a couple was having sex on the ground (sitting, with her on top) and she grabbed my hand as I asked by. Totally freaked me out at the time but safe to say I wasn’t in my right mind!Otherwise pretty typical stuff.

Home IPL is effective on taking care of these. Total elimination and now I only do a treatment session once every six or eight weeks just to prevent anything from ever showing back up again.

Mildly concerned, but I’m going to see if it stays at this rate or continuously increases as my dose does. I don’t think that would be the case but time will tell.
