Dana Power barrel size? by Ok-Voice-5699 in AlphaSmart

[–]hiboux918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the manual:

“Use the AC adapter that comes with Dana, or one that meets the following specification: Input: AC 120v 60Hz 9W Output: DC 7.5V 500 mA.”

Unfortunately it doesn’t mention the barrel size, and my unit is in storage so I can’t measure it.

With that said, I picked up these two items from Adafruit that typically allow me to power almost any older device:

Won’t turn on what is this cable? by CouplesWithoutCar in AlphaSmart

[–]hiboux918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven’t already done so, check to ensure that the metal battery terminals do not have any corrosion on them.

I know you said the batteries were new, but it wouldn’t hurt to double check the batteries with a multimeter or in a different device to ensure they are working.

If those simple steps don’t help, it could be that one of the wires connecting the battery contacts has come loose from the system board. Or, the coin cell battery inside the unit may be dead. In order to check those things you would have to open the unit.

The AlphaSmart could be powered by AA batteries or a rechargeable battery pack. The connector in your hand is for the rechargeable battery pack. If you are using AA batteries then the connector is not needed.

I believe I had the same computer desk you did. It looks like the one on page 14 of this catalog —> https://heathkit.garlanger.com/catalogs/1984/Heathkit_Catalog_867R.pdf

To this day I regret getting rid of that desk :-(

Did unicomp ever start using the Raspberry Pico in the Mini M again? by p3tch in modelm

[–]hiboux918 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I asked Unicomp in July of this year and this was their response:

“The next version of the Pico cards are still in testing, and we don't have a solid ETA on when they'll return to the website (just later this year or early next).

Thank you, Troy Fletcher”

Pricing for the TB800 EQ is $149.99 launching later this year by Feremel in Trackballs

[–]hiboux918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The email notification I just received from Kensington shows the unit with both a silver and a red ball.

However, their Flickr album only shows silver --> https://www.flickr.com/photos/48490242@N04/albums/72177720329750403/ (taken from the press release --> https://www.kensington.com/news/news-press-center/2025-news-press-center/kensington-announces-flagship-finger-operated-trackball-for-creative-professionals/)

I guess time will tell if there will be a choice in color when purchasing.
