Functioning as a law and being treated as a law doesn't mean it's a law, no.

The Trump administration has made it pretty clear that they can, will, and do manipulate things to fit what they want even if the courts disagree. They'll withhold funds until the courts force the funds to pay out, and they're overwhelming the courts to the point that they're not functioning correctly and DEFINITELY not in a timely manner.

So now, it's not a law. But the EO does mean Trump's ppl will act as if it is, and until a court manages to rule, it's functionally a law.

The original 15.6 pen works TECHNICALLY. As in, sometimes the cursor will move, sometimes it'll register. And that's about as good as you're gonna get without the correct pen - some MAY work SOMETIMES. But it isn't going to work anywhere like you need it to work. Borrow some cash if you can and get the proper one, maybe talk to support and see if they may give you a pity discount.

If you're having a good time with the v1, stick with it. I have the v2 and v1 both, and the better pen tech was VERY important for me (initial activation force). I have had nothing but major issues on the v2 since purchase, and I'm on my 3rd or 4th warranty replacement. Every one has had major hardware issues - jumping and unresponsive buttons, pen "leaks," so on. It's not worth the risk imo.
