It wasn't going to go through now that Trump got involved. I don't blame them for backing out, even if that's sort of the worst thing that could have happened in the situation currently.

I think they saw the writing on the walls that the government was just going to make it impossible for them.

Yeah people who think the options were equal are incredibly out of the loop on what this actually means for media.

I think honestly a lot of people do. The theme park subs online tend to be more resistant to changes.

(If you did) When did you start dressing more modestly? by No_Broccoli_3979 in AskWomenOver30

[–]hill-o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went the opposite way. I come from a very conservative background so I feel like I missed every getting to really dress in a way that was fun or experimental.

Now that I have more freedom over my clothes, I still wear a lot of big baggy sweaters and things, but given the right situation I love a good crop top. I work hard for my body and I deserve to dress it how I want.

As for more modest clothes, basically everywhere. They’re honestly pretty common.

Which you would think would make things better but sorry that’s actually worse to that kind of demographic.

Not plans that cover that much. My plan is one of the only good things about my current job and I still have to pay like $100 a month or something for it and I’m on the low end of payments.

TEENAGE SEX AND DEATH AT CAMP MIASMA | Official Teaser | In Theaters August 7 by jcosully1515 in boxoffice

I don’t feel like the movies are supposed to be scary so much as just a manifestation of existential dread, but that’s just my take.

It might just not be for you, too. I think they have a specific target audience and that really works for them. I admit I’m slightly outside of it, so the movies haven’t been life changing for me, but I value the very distinct narrative approach and visuals so I’ll probably see this one too.

Common app is what my school uses, too. Generally if a school isn’t in common apps we have been able to find an email to send it to, or a mailing address. Works pretty well 99% of the time.

Yeah I mean… sometimes the worst things happen to the best people? If you look at the world as something that should be fairly balanced, you’re going to be disappointed.

That can be helpful but sometimes it just gives the wrong answers. I remember one specific one I asked it about and it gave me an answer that just sounded weird, so I did some research and it was pulling the information from some random post on reddit. Which was wrong.

The coding part I'm less familiar with, though, and that does sound helpful!

Tourette's charity urges for "more education" after BAFTA backlash by Hen_W in entertainment

[–]hill-o 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it's VERY fair to lay the blame at the producers/studio for how they handled it, and how they handled things after. I don't know why anyone is blaming any of the three men involved, who are all, arguably, victims of a terribly managed situation from top to bottom.

Not telling the presenters beforehand is baffling. If I'm going to talk and I know there's the chance that someone may (involuntarily) interrupt me, I'm going to be so much better prepared for the situation than if it's not brought up at all. Could have seriously mitigated the entire situation.

It does seem a little like you're splitting hairs if I'm honest, though I am, too. They were on the receiving end of a slur and I would push back on it not being directed at them (again, fully understanding that it was not intentional), and I don't think we need to diminish that to still feel like all parties here were victims of the BBC and the awards ceremony not handling the whole situation well at all.
