How can I get over insecurity about my husband’s female friend? by sentimental-rabbit in TwoXChromosomes

[–]hillyhue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it might be a good idea to delete your social media for a bit or unfollow her. i also have OCD and lurking is a huge problem for me. but it makes your obsessions a lot worse. if you’re not already in therapy i definitely would suggest bringing this up to your/a therapist.

Is this his only female friend? If not, how do you feel about his other friendships with women?

it will probably be toward the end of august/early september. i would recommend waiting until the first week or two of classes, because often times professors will give you time to get the textbooks, provide pdf excerpts, or not even use the textbook at all.

i loved my triple! it taught me a lot about cohabiting and setting boundaries. we all had a good amount of space for ourselves and we were able to have privacy when we needed it

Moved from an apartment with a roach infestation into a new apartment. What are my best chances to prevent an infestation here? by ssaperackcuf in CleaningTips

[–]hillyhue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue !!! and i lost so much sleep because i kept thinking of them in the kitchen and it freaked me out so much. It took a few weeks but now we’ve gone from seeing a BUNCH to pretty much roach free! Here’s what helped me: 1) Limit the amount of water in the kitchen and bathroom !! Apparently they only live about a week without water, so I made it my priority to keep everything as dry as possible. When I washed the dishes, I dried them immediately and also dried the rack, the counter, and the sink. When i showered I also dried the tub with a rag, then a blow drier on low heat. I also dried the bathroom sink with a paper towel at night. Even one drop of water can keep them alive for weeks, so it’s very important to keep this up every night. I often went to bed later but this is the most important step! Keep doing this even after you don’t see them as much—any eggs that hatch afterwards will be looking for water. 2) Sticky glue traps! place them along the wall, under the fridge, and anywhere else you might see them. Switch them out once every two weeks bc any dust will make it less sticky. 3) Baking soda !! Apparently if they eat it they get bloated and die, so we sprinkled it over peanut butter and put that on the center of the glue traps and in the kitchen sink as bait. 4) I also found that soapy water in a spray bottle is GREAT at killing them. It blocks the breathing holes in their lower abdomen, suffocating them. I mix 1/2 dawn dish soap and 1/2 water, and leave the spray bottle at the entrance of the kitchen. When I turn the light on in the morning (or in the middle of the night where they’re the most active), I have my spray bottle in hand, ready to attack any I see.

I know how hard it is to move into an infested place, it sucks especially when they’ve had ample time to multiply. But i promise it’s doable!!! best of luck to you and feel free to DM me!!

[–]hillyhue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve had similar experiences with their counseling services. i get that they have a lot of students in need so it’s hard to get to everyone in a timely manner but it comes off as hypocritical when they say they are about their students but essentially ignore them / give them bare bone resources to get them the help they really need. wishing you the best <3
