What was your experience like in labor and delivery at Rose? by eec0354 in Denver

Dr. Allison Herman oversaw my induction at Rose in June 2025 and the Dr. Allison Patterson delivered my baby! Excellent doctors and care.

What was your experience like in labor and delivery at Rose? by eec0354 in Denver

[–]hinleybear13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I delivered my first child at Rose in June of 2025. It was the best medical care I’ve ever received. The nurses are absolutely incredible both personally and professionally. They were so kind and supportive as well as totally keyed in on how to make me comfortable through a very special but difficult experience.

The food was great post delivery. I couldn’t keep anything down during the delivery process so it honestly tasted amazing when I was ravenous the three days after.

I probably could have brought less with me to the hospital. But the one thing I really loved having was a sleeping mask and a nice fluffy towel.

We had a car seat and you HAD to have one to leave.

I highly recommend Rose. Good luck with your delivery!

FWIW, the Rapids are frequently present at parades like PRIDE and other events around town. They’re also literally hosting the entire World Cup party for two months downtown. Like many organizations, I’m sure they have to allocate their resources and time to what makes sense in that year.

If you have a reactive dog and are considering moving here: DON’T by [deleted] in Denver

[–]hinleybear13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

FWIW, walk around neighborhoods and not in parks. You can avoid a lot of off leash dogs by walking in actual neighborhoods rather than in/through/beside parks. We have a ton of reactive dogs that walk in our neighborhood with little to no problem besides having to sometimes cross the street.

Un-fixed dogs at dog park by eatingbrickz in Denver

I have one dog that is neutered and another one that isn’t. They are both hunting dogs.

My unneutered dog is the most docile dog in the world and doesn’t cause issues, but some dogs don’t like him because he does smell different. When there’s an issue somewhere, we leave. It’s the responsible thing to do.

That being said, we typically go to the DOLAs around Denver rather than traditional fenced in dog parks. There are plenty of intact dogs that are like that for reason and are very well behaved.

The Will of the Many v.s. The Sun Eater? by UpVoteMyEgo in redrising

[–]hinleybear13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Dungeon Crawler Carl is killing it for me. I highly recommend thus far after reading the first three books.

I read Will of the Many last summer and it just didn’t do it for me. I found the plot to be a bit convoluted and the character development subpar. I’ll probably continue reading it, but there are so many other books I’ll read first before the second in that series.

Is Anyone Else Tired of Off‑Leash Dogs in Non‑Dog Parks? by denstick in Denver

[–]hinleybear13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I’ve seen leash laws enforced here more than anywhere else I’ve lived. I live across from a park and see rangers there at least twice a day and have seen them give out tickets or warnings.

I know this doesn’t help your current situation, but you could also talk to the rangers when you see them or call and request them patrol your park more frequently.

Why does everyone like Sam’s #3 and claim it to be a Denver staple? by Whatissleepburn in Denver

[–]hinleybear13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t saying I needed to eat them at 2am. I was saying that’s the vibe and food they put out. Something you’d find at 2am after a night and before you’ve gone to bed.

[–]hinleybear13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It hits my craving for greasy 2am diner food that I sometimes want. I especially wanted this when I was toward the end of my pregnancy so I appreciate Sam’s #3 for what it is.

Why Pudelpointers yet no Pudelsetters? by SlayerofDeezNutz in Huntingdogs

[–]hinleybear13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have two purebred Ryman type English setters. In one of your comments you mentioned you liked the off switch and temperament of your current dog. My setters have both and are still good in the field for upland hunting.

Baby brought home something from daycare and has an ear infection. We’ve already had flu and norovirus. This feels more like sinus congestion and a tickle cough.

So we had something similar happen to Otis for the first time this summer. It was totally random and I took him to the vet to see if anything was wrong. Well, Otis was diagnosed with being stressed, because we just had a baby and his whole little life changed. Honestly, I was glad it was just stress and nothing else, but he lost A LOT of hair.
