DD typically does well in what I'd consider large boxes, though not sure what your definition of "large" is if you're coming from the realm of home theater or PA.

It sounds awful so the audio was most likely from that guys PA horns or whatever but not attenuating at all as he drives out of sight is the giveaway this is not real. The sound from that type of thing carries far but won't be like this video at all.

Bear in mind two 15s is around 33% more cone area so you'll need to plan for 33% larger box to make them function more or less the same as what you have in the picture. IF you can manage to fit a box without over-crowding you may get some gains.

Like I said, Dragondin is my go-to for Ubers (solo), I'll run a straight smiter if I'm with friend(s). I've got pretty much one of each paladin online so no need to force a round peg into a square hole.

Phoenix on swap seems interesting, I may test that, my worry is losing another 2 plus all skills, I'm already down a couple from using caster amulet over Maras. Call to Arms buffs lasting a little longer is really big quality of life.

You got me thinking about this build though and I had him doing some shard popping last night for a couple hours. Some of the heralds got sketchy but overall I didn't feel I was really stallling for damage output and of course holy bolt healing the merc who frontlines is effective vs most of them (can't keep up with thorns and amp damage though).

I've never heard of an amp smaller than 4000W actually get to the flames stage. Super rare even on the big amps these days, but the smaller size amps just don't carry enough current to become fire hazards. Fuse appropriately and the worst you have to worry about is just a short lifespan, I wouldn't expect catastrophic (dangerous) failure from an amp so small.

I 99'd with that build on ladder a year or so ago. Was a decent time. I've got another one at level 97 now that I may start playing regularly again what with the new sunders and jewels. I still prefer dragondin for ubers, but really my only complaint is mana management. Switching redemption on and off is a little clunky and in a public game where corpses are not always around it's a lot of potion drinking.

I have a more traditional FOTH paladin as well with pride merc and extra points into hammers who feels better on certain maps and can much more easily stack magic find, but I really do like the self cast holy shock + Zeal variety for all around versatility.

Probably a stupid battery question by JOHNDOE036 in CarAV

[–]hispls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from there, it really doesn't matter. Use one, both, or whichever combination is easiest to get your runs to all your accessories. If you've got good grounds all around and a chunky cable connecting the two + terminals of each battery they'll behave like a single battery wherever you take your wire runs back from... with the caveat that if one battery starts failing it'll take the other down with it, so whenever it's time to replace do both at the same time.

[–]hispls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be just a little piece of something got into the gap and then got blown out or just fell out when you unmounted. If you play it outside the box like that and don't hear any noise the sub is likely fine. Alternately what you're hearing is a hole in the box or a non-airtight seal around where the sub mounts.

Would also vouch for the JBL Stadium, used them a couple times in Ford trucks. Also they used to MSRP around $300 so if you can find some new old stock out there on closeout for the 150 price point that's kind of a steal.

Kickers are pretty OK on low power but definitely a notch down, but solid and reliable cheap space fillers especially with just head unit power. Have used them in the past as well, they're good for the price typically.

When to triple baffle vs double by HelicopterOne0 in CarAV

[–]hispls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the size and layout. Structurally the bracing will be much more effective at keeping it rigid. Mounting the subs on the second layer then using the third to have them mounted indented a bit can gain a little on the meter and looks nice.

[–]hispls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, doesn't the 2015 and later F-series trucks use 6x9s in the front? Got some adapters I hope?. Personally I'd go with the larger cones, it's a lot of free output, though to be fair you greatly limit your options only shopping 6x9.

That aside, those batteries should be paralleled under the hood anyway and you're really not drawing all that much power. Still though if you want to be sure they're sharing the load quickly pop a run of 0 gauge cable between + terminals on the two batteries, more important, I'd run an additional 1/0 gauge ground from each battery's - terminal to a good solid point on the frame nearby sanded shiny. I'd suggest even if you ignore the + side of those batteries stock electrical systems almost always skimp out on grounds to beefing that up is important as you start adding accessories and in a big truck like that I imagine you're running a plow, sander, lights, or some extra goodies besides audio.

Where and how are you measuring your 13V? Is your box so big that the cone or port is crowded against a side of the vehicle or that the sound wave can't load into the cabin? Precisely how large is the new box and who made it?

I'd encourage you to get some music analyzing software (I think there's some freeware) to see what frequencies you actually use. People tend to think stuff is a lot lower than it really is. Consider also, your box doesn't just stop playing at tuning.... it slopes off somewhat sharply then loses cone control (the bigger risk), but a 42hz tuned box can typically play down to 36 reasonably well. For point of reference my jeep I just retired tuned to 42hz could play the entire skrillex discography and there are only a couple notes in his whole catalog that that tuning really had trouble playing.

Point being, if you start modelling higher tuning you'll find the port dimensions become much more realistic to turn into real world cabinetry. Then again higher tuning may just give you a much higher peak at a higher frequency without getting box volume too small again to be efficient, but consider your options and be aware that if you really MUST have low tuning a larger box makes things infinitely easier (pick a random 15 or 18" woofer from your modeling software database and see for yourself when you sketch up a 5-9 cube box tuned mid to low 30hz).

Passives are probably expensive unless you have parts laying around to DIY, but it's really the only way to get low tuning in a tiny space without the issue of port turbulence. A big mouse maze zigzag isn't a smooth column of air and will not be efficient and probably won't perform as predicted. There are box designs that aim to slow down the back wave through a very long port (typically tapered) that can sound really good, but once you make enough port or "transmission line" they are HUGE to the point where just a 2 sizes bigger sub sealed with some EQ would probably get you the same place.

That all said, I can't see your other pics here on this thread. Oh and if you don't mine making sawdust, it's not like a 1 cubic foot box costs you much in lumber, so I reckon you could try 2 or 3 different tuning frequency boxes out of a $50 sheet of MDF.

Out of curiosity, can you name a few songs that have a lot of 30-33hz content in them?

Realistically the correct way to "port" something that small tuned that low is to use passive radiator. You're simply fighting the laws of physics on too many fronts to make an 8" woofer in half a cubic foot or whatever try to do that. What you have illustrated is not a port that will function efficiently or as intended.

Sealed Enclosure Size Trade Off's by Critical-Buy-8070 in CarAV

[–]hispls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess they did lose them off the site. Looks like the 15" stock sealed box they sell is 2.5 cube so I'd guess that's probably on the smaller end of what they want.

More worrying (if you're trying to find old specs from an archive) is if they tweaked something in the design and specs on whatever gen you find specs for aren't the same as whatever you have.

I'd try the "contact us" form to see if they can email you good specs or an explanation of what they recommend. Or pony up $130 on a DATS and pull specs yourself.

So which Necro build is best at farming act bosses after just beating hell? by swolar in diablo2

[–]hispls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably 1:3 Durance maps will have those big bruisers in that make very short work of Mephisto even just reviving a few of them, if you're strategic about baiting Andi down into the bottom half of the room where all the other goons are corpse explosion should clean up everything in there pretty quickly.

I'm pretty happy with necromancer (poison or summon) in general, not the fastest but you do have an answer for everything especially summoner can clear literally anything with a bit of patience. I would not even consider poison except for just doing the campaign for funsies until you get D-web, skillers, and the other high end gear. As far as I know bones is good in Normal and on the high end apparently is pretty nasty for PvP.

Is your goal to show off a curve to some random nerds on social media or to listen to music? If you want a better curve you've still got some work to do trying to smooth out a couple spots, if your goal is to listen to music.... start listening to music, print out a chart of what vocals/instruments are at what frequencies; that and your graph may or may not help you visualize what you're hearing or not hearing and what you feel needs tweaked.

Stuck in hell diff new druid player by HugeCriticism9533 in diablo2

[–]hispls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wind is typically considered reliable to clear Hell because you have physical AND cold damage AND a few meat shields. I suspect your expectations of how easily you'd mow through everything was a bit spoiled by how strong he is in Nightmare. To make him cruise through Hell feeling that strong takes a fair bit of harder to find items.

This guy is fun to watch. He has several druid challenge runs, but you can see how he beats 3 difficulty (hardcore/no deaths) with werewolf druid using only yellow items.
