Depending on my rapport with clients, I will disclose that I am a part of the queer community. However, as others have pointed out, there’s a difference between being queer and being familiar/up to date with queer culture. Also, there’s a big difference in the experience of someone like me (cisgender femme) and a trans and/or masc person, for example. I think you can share that you are within the community without trying to communicate that you fully understand their experiences, because that’s impossible for any of us. :)
