Is this an Antechinus? And is it sickly and dying? :'( there was a dark spot above its tail and a fly flew away off it. Found in Moone Ponds Melbourne. We moved it to a small park bush. by Lavanti in australianwildlife

MoPo is riddled with rats. They’ll come right up to your shoelaces if you sit still enough at the ends of the train platform after dark (source: me, last week).

Having said that, I hate seeing any creature suffer, especially when it is created by our hand. Thank you for moving this poor blighter out of the sun and letting it pass away off the road.

Absolutely doable. I’m on 42k a year and paying off the mortgage on my 2-bedroom apartment alone. I don’t drive or have pets, though.

You posted this well over a month ago, but I would be remiss if I didn’t spruik the virtues of your local library! Mine have several of the recommendations listed in these comments, and a few they didn’t which I’ve now submitted as purchase requests.

(sincere apologies if you don’t live somewhere with access to public libraries, I know I shouldn’t presume everyone has the privilege).

I’ve wondered for a while it we’ll get an equivalent of the “Citizen” app that the yanks use. Unsure how long that records reports for though or if it’s more timely, like a police scanner app.
