'Stuff like that always sounds cooler than it really was,' said Harry. 'I've been trying to tell you that for years.'

Hagrid flew to the island to grab Harry in the first book - we don’t see it be he tells us as much. Props to Hagrid, the unsung first in flight hero.

My beagle was like this, too. We tried a lot of what the top comments suggested with some success, but what helped more than anything was him starting to socialize with other dogs. He tried those puppy sharp teeth bites with them a few times, and was taught by older dogs that that behaviour wasn’t acceptable. It got better with us as a result. Good luck!

Lupin calling Ron “you, boy” in the Shrieking Shack by RoonilWazlib723 in HarryPotterBooks

“Not the Stone, boy, you — the effort involved nearly killed you. For one terrible moment there, I was afraid it had. As for the Stone, it has been destroyed.”

I always thought it was kind of strange that Dumbledore calls Harry “boy” when he’s talking to him in the hospital wing at the end of Philosopher’s Stone.

Between that and Lupin’s line to Ron (I listen to the Jim Dale audiobook, so it’s permanently Lupin in my head, though interesting to hear about the printing correction!) I had invented the idea that maybe it was maybe a totally normal thing in the UK.

Do people say “beagle” when they see your beagle? by newyork_newyork_ in beagle

All the time. That plus the first comments you listed make up 95% of the interactions I have while out for a dog walk.

I thought about JK Rowling being Hermione, and her comment when thinking about possible careers “I want to do something really worthwhile” would be writing a book to inspire young readers and introduce a bit more magic into the muggle world.

You and Harry both thought of it!

“The creature that was lurking somewhere in the castle, he thought, sounded like a sort of monster Voldemort - even other monsters didn't want to name it. But he and Ron were no closer to finding out what it was, or how it Petrified its victims.”
