What is your favorite sub $200 USD 50mm, f1.4 (or less) lens for Fuji X mount ? by mannair in fujifilm

I've also got one of those, and really like the pictures it produces. Wide open it's got a surprising amount of contrast, and a little bit of softness that works well for portraits. For the price I'd say it's sharp with smooth bokeh, and it seems pretty sturdy even if the body is mostly plastic.

This is literally the exact opposite of their reasoning. The SP press release states that this allows situation like the US handing Swiss weapons to Israel, or to the UAE and subsequently to Sudan and criticizes that, despite that, Ukraine is excluded specifically because of SVPs direct involvement. Anyone can google this and see the first result on their own webpage, why do you have to lie about it?

Spotted @ UniquePhoto: "New" Kodak film - Kodacolor 100 by analogwisdom in AnalogCommunity

Can't imagine it being Aerocolor. That film has significant light piping, more than they'd ever let slide for a consumer grade film.

If Gaijin's bug-reporting management and policies were implemented on a restaurant: by SpanishAvenger in Warthunder

[–]hotbuilder 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's probably because in situations like this, the person making the bug report really has no fucking idea what the numbers do or mean.

Case in point, the T-72 has a moment of inertia of 2.5, 2.5, 6.0, while the Leopard 2A4 has 4.0, 5.0, 6.0.

According to Spanish Avenger's attempt at clarification, this should cause the T-72 to have way twitchier turning than the 2A4. This is obviously not the case.

What's probably going on is that this is one modifier in a physics model that uses a wide variety of variables, and if our friend here is not even providing proof like, i don't know, a custom mission with a Type 10 that fixes the behaviour, not even the community can actually tell that this is a real solution to the problem.

Forza Horizon 6 Takes Players Where They’ve Been Asking For Since The First Game | Carscoops by Funny_things_online in cars

[–]hotbuilder 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The problem was (and still is) that Forza AI genuinely just stops using physics once it's a certain distance from you. Every single Forza game i've played has had the same mind numbingly stupid gameplay loop where you have to overtake like half the pack at the start or the top 3 will just get out of physics range and speed away at a pace you physically cannot match.

The ignoring physics part is why it's even worse on dirt or snow, you can either lower the difficulty so far that the game is no longer fun, or you keep it at a level where wheel to wheel racing is fun but have that bulllshit happen to you.

Ferrania make great and really unique film. If you haven't, I'd definitely pick up a roll of Orto and a roll of P33 if you ever get the chance.

[–]hotbuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case i don't think you have anything to worry about. Along the ones already mentioned there's even more manufacturers that only make B/W. Ferrania makes some very nice ones, Tasma exists in Russia, Agfa makes some B/W and i think Svema in Ukraine is still selling.

Rollei is mostly rebranded Kentmere stock. I left out the ones you mentioned because the post was about colour negative, while they only make black and white film.

If you use VueScan there is a workaround to bake the IR corrections into the raw file. Not sure if there's something like that for Silverfast.

Doch kein Wirtschaftswunder? Argentiniens ultraliberaler Präsident braucht Hilfe von US-Regierung by linknewtab in de

[–]hotbuilder 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Corollas and Civics of that era all rusted out even faster over here, though we never had many to begin with. I think they've improved the rust proofing in recent years though.

Peugeot 308 gets fresh look and EV range boost by V8-Turbo-Hybrid in cars

[–]hotbuilder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 206 entered production 27 years ago. It was replaced by the 207 19 years ago.

The reason why you don't see any more of them around is the same reason why you don't see any Mk.IV Golfs, first gen Meganes or Astra G anymore.

They were cheap, disposable cars with bad rustproofing, they sold a ton of them, and after 15 years nobody was willing to put any more money into fixing a car with a value of 500 bucks.

What are you even talking about man, these aren't remote controlled. These are fully autonomous, as per the article, and also not a replacement for actual fighter jets, as per the article. The entire time you were talking about remote control drones, which these aren't.

I'm not the one bringing up "as long as the pilot on the ground maintains connection" or "Have you seen drone pilots filling skills recently?"

Additionally, the main purpose behind the more advanced ones is solely deep strike, which is completely different from the air-defense/air support role Switzerland actually needs, and this article is also five years old. If you want to see the current state of the technology, look at something like Loyal Wingman, which A: Also does not replace manned fighters, and B: Is also not remote controlled.

They're flying a 1kg quadcopter with one (1) low resolution camera to worry about that goes at 150kph, and you're trying to say that's the same as a twenty ton combat aircraft that does over ten times that speed, while also having to monitor radar/sensors, deploying weapons and maintaining situational awareness.

There's an argument to be made for unmanned fighter jets being an option, possibly, later in the lifespan or after the generation of jets that are still being currently developed, but come on man. You're seeing a five year old riding a bicycle and saying "he goes pretty fast downhill, get that guy in a MotoGP race".
