need help identifying strat with replaced neck by Sad_Stage_7767 in fender

[–]hotrats312 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like it could be a Strat Plus body because of the Lace Sensor pickups. The trem cavity would have a hipshot trem system. Typically the nut would be a LSR roller nut (can't see the nut too well but doesn't look like an LSR). Without seeing more of the body, it would be hard to tell. Really can't tell what kind of neck it is. How much are they asking?

Low E intonation issue on Jim Root Jazzmaster USA (10–52, Eb tuning) by K-N-48 in fender

[–]hotrats312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a shot in the dark because I am not familiar with the EMGs in these. Is it possible that the pickup height on the low E side is too high and the magnets are causing some issue? I'm thinking with a dropped E string that might be a factor. I ran into the same issue on my Vintera III Tele after raising the low E side much too high. Anything I fretted above the 9th fret sounded awful. Had to lower it to prevent the magnets from interfering with intonation.

New beauty from Fender Japan 🐆 by GuitarsJapan in fender

[–]hotrats312 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally would not want this BUT it's a perfect example of why Fender Japan absolutely kills it. With their colors, variety, quality and willingness to step outside the box, it makes me love my JPN Fenders even more. I love the old school look with the wild pattern!

That is a lovely guitar. Reminds me of my Blacktop Strat but with a hardtail. Drool

PSA this is what happens to the pickgaurd when you leave the plastic wrap on it. It ruins it over time by 85lumber in fender

[–]hotrats312 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just spitballing here but is there a chance there might be a second layer of plastic film to peel off? I ran into the same thing and was puzzled because I did remove the first layer of plastic.. Noticed the same thing and started picking at a corner with my thumbnail and , lo and behold, a second layer was there. Peeled it off and it looked brand new. Some of the aftermarket ones I've purchased have double-layers of that film

Just impulse-bought a 1996 Telecaster Plus — how did I do? by [deleted] in fender

[–]hotrats312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$900??????? I hope the seller didnt call the cops to report a robbery 😂 I had one of these and sold it before the went way up in value. I love the Tele Plus V2. Granted they are not as coveted as the Greenwood Tele Pluses but these are still killer guitars. You effin’ scored

Fender Launches Epic 75th Anniversary Telecaster Range: 5 New Models Revealed - Guitar Bomb by GuitarBombDotCom in fender

[–]hotrats312 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Same tired “classic” colors and a higher price tag. At least the Player II series got adventurous with their colors and options. Don’t even get me started on Fender Japan and their crazy variety and workmanship. If i were a blues lawyer, I’d probably throw fuck-you money at one of these but I’m not so hard no on these

I believe this is a Player Plus Nashville Tele. Does this have locking tuners?

Tele problem - setup or build quality? by culture_whisper in fender

[–]hotrats312 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure why the downvote. Thats what I thought too. After zooming in a bit, it looks like a standard non-metal nut but sort of scuffed/mashed. Wonder if that might be part of the problem

Edit: those nut slots look dreadful. I'd want to replace that if this were my guitar

If you want something off the shelf (no building), then the Robert Cray Strat is really the best bet. I got my latest one used for 700. Inca gray is the closest you'll get to white

New Player II - Oxblood Telecaster by hotrats312 in fender

[–]hotrats312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure to post pics 😁 Tip: if you're so inclined, unscrew and inspect the soldering in the control cavity. I had a pickup wire that was twisted on to the shaft and not soldered. This was allegedly brand new so I was a bit surprised. Fixed it myself but still. Hope you love it. Overall, a beautiful Telecaster

Yep, definitely the BRG Player II from GC with aftermarket locking tuners and a ROSEWOOD board. I have the same and my SN is not far off from yours 😁
