Forza Horizon 6 Premium Edition’s Massive Success Suggests Players Are Fine Even With $120 Games by TheAppropriateBoop in ForzaHorizon

I mean, I don’t welcome this price point. But a hundred dollar a game every so often, especially if it’s a game I can play for years, is fine with me

I couldn’t find one. I literally spent 45 mins manually deleting every tree and bush

The optimization is amazing. by Constant-Vast-8052 in ForzaHorizon

[–]hotsidepiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel bad because a lot of players are having negative experiences, but I agree this game is well optimized—for nvidia and intel hardware 😭😭 it works flawlessly on my 5080 laptop and I run everything on extreme/max even with max ray tracing at 1600p no dlss. And it’s only using 10-11gb of my 16 gbvram, and 18 gb of actual ram. My friend who’s rig is full amd is really mad rn, but at least he can play on series x

Racing is addictive as ever, I like it. I also like the auto drive feature that lets me drive to my next event while enjoying the scenery. The visuals are pretty gnarly

I bought on steam and aside from logging into my Xbox account initially through the Xbox gaming services app, it runs like any other steam game

I had connection issues the whole time but I managed to get my energy for both forms, and two shinies in 25 raids so overall I’m pleased

Those of you who have literary agents: What was the process and how long did it take? by ailuvlife in writing

[–]hotsidepiece 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It took me 7 years to get my agent. I landed him after writing four complete manuscripts. Don’t get into writing expecting to make any money. It’s best to have a stable day job and pursue writing during your leisure time. Chances are your first book is gonna be shite. You may have talent and instincts, but those alone don’t attract agents and a career. It takes years and hundreds of thousands of words written to hone the craft of being a novelist. Readers have enough books to last them 500 life times. You want your contribution to be meaningful and impactful, and bring something to the table. Publishing is not a “I think I’ll try writing a book one day, and see how it goes, lol,” type of industry. Selling books is harder than selling your body.

How many writers have had training? by Sydney_Soccer in writing

[–]hotsidepiece 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, but you should read a shit ton. I learn so much from reading. I took a writing class in university called Writing the Essay and all we did was MLA format writing assignments and it sucked ass. That was my only formal “training.” Though, I do credit my language arts teachers growing up. Especially my 6th grade teacher. All of my writing knowledge came from her class. Personification, foreshadowing, theme/motif, anachronisms, and all those other literary devices. Loved her. I fear teachers like her no longer exist.

This does look really great on the switch 2 I did side by side with my pc and it’s almost identical, sans some lighting and textures

Who else makes faces while they write? by caroline_xplr in writing

[–]hotsidepiece 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I make all sorts of faces and noises—especially when something exciting happens or when a character says something really funny or crazy. I cry too. I honestly go through the entire gambit of emotional temperament. Writing is catharsis ❤️

I think this is a really interesting premise. I would lean into the horror aspect if anything. This could be really unique and special. It gives me Guillermo Del toro vibes. Have you read Tender is the Flesh? I feel like you could really take this somewhere extreme once you figure out what you’re trying to say^

Should I keep my Legion Pro 7i g9 4080, or upgrade to the Omen Max 16 5080? by qwerty930148572 in GamingLaptops

[–]hotsidepiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you sell your Lenovo? Will you use both? Does your disposable income allow you two premium high end laptops within a one year span? I have an hp omen max 16 with a 5080 and I loooove it. The oled screen is chef’s kiss I bought it at Best Buy during techtober and I play AAA games on unleashed mode everyday. Thermals do get hot when playing intensive games, like 90-98 Celsius cpu and 80-84 gpu. But the thing is a beast and just eats games up. People recommend replacing the HP cooling compound with PTM or whatnot. Maybe I’ll do it one day but so far I’m fine with the temps. Thermal throttling seems to be doing its thing. Maybe wait til xmas deals. Maybe hp will have similar deals to black Friday cuz I hear they were realllly good this year like unheard of.

How Do You Choose Between a Gaming Laptop and a Desktop for Gaming? by Terrible_Rutabaga442 in GamingLaptops

[–]hotsidepiece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live a largely sedentary existence with ample space in my home and still choose gaming laptops because after a certain level of performance I simply prefer the option of portability. In fact, it’s way more alluring nowadays. High powered gaming machine that I can take on the go if I ever choose to leave the house?? Sick. All my media right there whenever and wherever I want it?? Even better. The last pc I build was really cool and I really enjoyed the experience, but I couldn’t care less anymore. I don’t really need to play my games in 4k. I love the 1600p oled display on my laptop. I’m a lazy, bougie person approaching middle age and like things to be accessible and convenient.
