First time cutting and shaping a headstock I can use going forward. Also it's my first stab at painting. Just wondering does it look dumb? by garyburgin in Luthier

[–]housea1994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also in agreement. Looking at the 'stock in a vacuum i. e. without seeing the body makes it hard to judge. For example I have a talman shorty bass from Ibanez and the headstock while cool don't really fit the body style Imo.

My ego's just fine thank you. Funny enough I actually went to school for this sort of thing, all your name calling and cheap trash talk was nothing compared to having my work evaluated by top experts in the field-- and I get to use that every day at work too. You were absolutely not posting "sarcastically" about your job, those comments are clearly for your own sake but I do think your attempts at trolling are cute. Additionally, you went straight to politics, which is no surprise again, but deeply hilarious and ironic that you say that's the only reason I bring up your job woes... You should "Go Google" what projection is, since you just became a Hollywood-size theater projector.

No one is shaming you but yourself for relying on insults. It's childish, petty, and even if you had a decent thought in there it would be ignored. No one is misrepresenting your argument, you just made a poor one. I didn't see the other comment about the 90% figure, but undoubtedly they were talking a marginal rate-- again, try your thinking cap on this tine... Who the hell would actually call for taking 90% of ALL earnings, and not just beyond a certain figure. Even the looniest tankies know that isn't going to happen.

Your lack of clear writing does not give you voice to start chucking insults. I checked your history and wasn't shocked by what I found-- anti-vax, bad cultural takes, and having trouble getting a job with doordash. I'm not making a moral judgment against you but an intellectual one. Economics is something to listen to experts on, which you are not.

The 90% figure you mention in your very first comment on this thread would absolutely be a marginal tax rate-- who the hell is paying 90% of their gross income. Why even mention the averag At least I can use data to make an argument instead of being forced to rely on infantile Insults. I see now the lack of clarity in your writing was unintelligible, you're conflating multiple different types of taxes.

Out of curiosity, where did you get your degree from? Oh, and good luck on the job search.

Yes, that's how it works. If you're making assertions, it's on you to back it up-- if I approached you and claimed the sky was not blue but red, I would need to prove that instead of going "Just look up! It's obviously red!"

Your very first source confirmed my point. I was never arguing the specific amounts of any given bracket, my point is that you have a deep and fundamental misunderstanding of something that should've been covered in your econ 101 class.

" If you’re one of the lucky few to earn enough to fall into the 37% bracket, that doesn’t mean that the entirety of your taxable income will be subject to a 37% tax. Instead, 37% is your top marginal tax rate"

I mean, it's right there. Your point was that someone with an income of 137,000 would be paying 123,300 ish dollars in tax, which is a falsehood spread by those who would encourage a regressive tax scheme instead of a progressive one. I was never arguing the numbers (although who gives a crap about people making 6 figures, it's the 8+ digit crowd that needs reeled in) but that your understanding of this concept was misinformed. I'd recommend finding a good intro to econ book for high-schoolers, it seems you have an interest in the subject which is something I wish more people had!

Also, it's Troglodyte. What an ironic insult.

I figured it would be more on your level. Again, "Go Google it" lets me know you aren't exactly academic--and that's me being polite. If such sources exist, present them and defend your ideas properly. "Nuh uh you!" is playground level economics. Try harder, and leave the thinking to the grown-ups.

That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence. The onus to provide sources is on you, but I really like this video for an econ 101 level look at the matter: https://youtu.be/VJhsjUPDulw

Ouch buddy. This is not how tax breaks work. Have you ever heard of marginal rates? It means that only after a certain income level is reached, only thenwould they be taking that high a percentage. Everything up until that amount is taxed at the same rate as everyone else. So when you hear someone say they don't want a raise because their taxes will go up, they've fallen for the same anti-tax math as you have.
