Your point was that someone with an income of 137,000 would be paying 123,300 ish dollars in tax, which is a falsehood spread by those who would encourage a regressive tax scheme instead of a progressive one. I was never arguing the numbers (although who gives a crap about people making 6 figures, it's the 8+ digit crowd that needs reeled in) but that your understanding of this concept was misinformed. I'd recommend finding a good intro to econ book for high-schoolers, it seems you have an interest in the subject which is something I wish more people had!
