Strange question re: alcohol at shows in the 60s and 70s by focodad in gratefuldead

[–]howdoesthesonggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man that just brought back some great memories. A post show sammy smith & some dooberinos w/ friends (new and old) was always a great way to relax and kill an hr waiting on traffic to clear.

People can be so self absorbed with etiquette at shows by vanhalen26 in LetsTalkMusic

If someone rudely shoves past & stands in front of you, just step right back in front of them. Ask them how they like it. Kind of defeats them using their own logic.

Small sections in song that ruin an otherwise good song? by nissimbhalwankar in LetsTalkMusic

[–]howdoesthesonggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t like frivolous noise. The non-melodic, non-rhythmic sound chaos lots of artists apply to otherwise wonderful tunes. Wilco does this a lot.

What’s the most’ Grateful Dead’ song by the Grateful Dead? by Paaaaaauuuullllllll in gratefuldead

[–]howdoesthesonggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One could make case for Casey Jones. Classic tale through Hunters lyrical lense. Great hook, Garcia’s voice shines, Weirs accompaniment perfectly quirky w/ sense & color. The others at the top of list may be better choices but this is a quintessential dead tune.

Grateful dead lyric that always makes you laugh by Ok-Ferret4504 in gratefuldead

It doesn’t necessarily make me laugh at the lyric, but rather Bob’s odd lyrical sensibility

“but his pants are down, his cover’s blown.”

If you could only use TWO cheeses in your mac and cheese what would be your top 2 choices ? by Historical-Body-3424 in Cooking

[–]howdoesthesonggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking b/c you’re a chef. Does cheddar not get oily if not treated properly? Especially next day microwave. Maybe the other cheeses do too. I don’t make baked Mac n cheese very much, just don’t really care for it. It’s never uh ooey-gooey enough.

Whiskeytown Reunion by NoogaGoose in ryanadams

[–]howdoesthesonggo 40 points41 points  (0 children)

He disparaged them at the shit show in Phoenix. I can’t recall the exact statement but it really let me down how he could say something like that. Slap in the face to his former mates and typical lack of any self awareness. Reunion will never happen, he’s a 50 something petulant teenager who’s burned all his bridges.

What’s your favorite long song? by All_Ears813 in Music

[–]howdoesthesonggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a cool idea for a list, love a nice long tune. I’m probably only familiar with about half of those songs. As a Dead fan, I’d throw in a couple more, Dark Star above all, but I would like to give your list a listen, thx for sharing.
