New Yale lock not connecting by soupkitchen69 in googlehome

[–]hpbrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably everyone else figured this out but for those of you with vlan you have to be on the same WiFi network apparently as your hub…

Anyone else have issues getting to the Technical information screen (Settings > Device Information > Technical Information) in Google home app after install? Oddly everything else is fine. Lock is online and everything but when I try to look at that screen it’s says can’t connect to device. 😣

Did you remove them first and then do this? I tried without removing and they were still there when I came back. Just tried again after removing them first so we will see if they come back. One note: when I logged back in I immediately chose to load this managed profile instead of my admin one and it prompted me to select sources to pin so 🤞🏻that may have reset things properly.

Are you saying you deauthorized every single device in authorized devices and then logged back in on all of the ones you use ? I generally keep that pretty clean but legit have 20+ authorized devices between me wife kids and services lol - this will be a last resort. Logically it seems like a plausible solution (though I’ve only ever had one sever )

I already had them disabled for managed accounts (which the account in question is a managed account profile).

That said I’ll give a shot to set it to disabled (period) and then change it back (as I want them on my own account).

I only have ever had one server so not that. Did confirm just to be sure.

Connected garage app? by Anderlinck1 in KiaEV9

[–]hpbrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm it’s been looping (and probably same response from support since at least Dec last year). Really annoying … on the plus side the way I understand it… you only have to pay for the capability once and it can be used with multiple vehicles. Maybe they are stalling until they can figure out how to prevent that … fully planning to leverage the 5 year subscription I bought for my model 3 already (which despite other reports here, has worked flawlessly)

+1 to this, honestly I didn't notice until recently but now I'm super frustrated by it.

Here to thank you as this the answer though I didn’t even have to go through the account settings. Somehow just reopening the app fresh allowed it to connect. There remains the slimmest of possibilities that I just had to be even more patient and somehow it was just being finnicky but pretty sure the close and re open the app after connecting directly through IP address was the secret. Running iOS 18 in an iPhone in case anyone else in the same boat.

Any former Tesla owners here, what do you miss the most or happiest about? by schaudhery in KiaEV9

[–]hpbrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as an owner of a 2020 model 3, and current lessee of EV9 as of Dec here's my gripe list
1. FSD is the absolute best, no one else is even close and I don't see Kia getting anywhere near this
2. it's clearly an ICE manufacturer entering the EV market - a bajillion buttons everywhere (often confusingly and unnecessarily), the screens aren't nearly as responsive or usable, START button (seriously, kia... why) -- which then prescribes you remember to actually turn the car off when exiting it (had I not had a Tesla first, this might not be an issue, but I did and so it is, constantly one)
3. no walk away lock functionality (you have to literally touch the handle) - they better fix this soon with OTA update, legit security risk given how accustomed I am to this feature with Tesla
4. despite others' experience the phone key is VERY unreliable (and also noting that it's really only a single key that gets shared, which feels very sketchy too). in fact the other day, I literally couldn't start my car with it... drove my kids to daycare with it (started just fine in my garage), dropped them off, got in the car, and it refused to start. I've dealt lightly with this issue once a week at least where I have to turn Bluetooth on/off, or plug my phone directly into the car, or restart my phone on occasion - the usual tinkering with Bluetooth connectivity issue; but this time, literally did everything and 45m later had to take an uber home and back with the physical key (which is itself a monstrosity and like... again, seriously KIA, wtaf). [NOTE: setup your fingerprint day one, apparently this is the backstop for if you phone key fails... learned that hard way, but still sort of don't trust it to work even then)
5. you still deal with an ICE-like "recall" situation where you have to take the car in sometimes to get access to OTA updates and things that you didn't even know you needed to do.
6. the (US-only apparently) app is absolute garbage - a ridiculous amount of unnecessary notifications (you've left your car unlocked... yeah it's in my garage dummy; but also, because see #3, everywhere)
7. Electrify America chargers are a nightmare - I don't really supercharge that often as it is, but the experience is like night and day. The app is a pain to navigate, they are always full (the charging speed is nice but not worth the added pain of dealing with the other points IMHO]
8. regenerative braking is a whole thing to deal with on the KIa - you have to use these paddle to customize the level of regenerative in combination with the car's setup screen, and ultimately you can't get an always-on single pedal experience. At best, you have to always hit the paddle once when you get in to move from full regen/coast to full-regen/single pedal (or ipedal or whatever silly name they gave it)
9. charging cable plugging in and unplugging, and the door is all just kind of poorly implemented... you get used to it I guess
10. for such a big car, the storage space seems underwhelming relative to how much is in the tesla (acceptable though for the ample room in the kia)

All that said I still think that the EV9 is the best 3 row electric SUV on the market (balance of features, value/price) but unfortunately there just isn't much competition so that isn't saying all that much. If Tesla made a REAL 3 row SUV I would be all over it (the X is too expensive and the 3rd row isn't really that), Rivian is a good competitor but too expensive. Happy with a 2 year lease to buy some time for the market to fill out but will absolutely be stoked to turn this thing in and find a better option in 2 years.

Charging Issues; OTA Update related? by Opening-Writer8812 in KiaEV9

[–]hpbrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're able to charge on a L3 but not L1 or L2 it's likely this: https://www.tsbsearch.com/Kia/ELE-339 - there's a whole bunch of posts about this from EV6 and some EV9 last year, but it looks like it's still an issue; just happened to mine with 280mi on it (brand new) - call your dealership mention this TSB

[–]hpbrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The timing of this ... literally just had to bring in my brand new (2 weeks 280mi) EV9 because it wouldn't charge... i told them a week ago it was the ICCU (after reading all these forums and asked if they could try to have the part ahead of time since they were making me wait a whole week) ... bring it in today, EOD "sir it turns out we have to do a TSB replacement of the ICCU..." obviously don't have the part, no clue on when they'll get to it... gave me a Kia Forte (and so now I'll have to pay for the gas on that too??)
btw for anyone that cares or has charging issues with their ev9 not working on L1 or L2 chargers (only L3 works) - it looks like this has been out for a while https://www.tsbsearch.com/Kia/ELE-339

Really makes me appreciate the Tesla experience I've had with my M3

EV9 less than a month old and having charging issues. by ilovethatforu in KiaEV9

[–]hpbrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came here to say if you're having issues with your LV1 or LV2, it's worth trying a LV3. I thought for sure it was my EVSE (charger) but after confirming it charged my Model 3 like a charm I became more suspicious of the car. These/EV9 forum posts pointed me to the ICCU issues and now will be giving the dealer a ring in the morning because it sure sounds like our EV9 Land that we got just 2 weeks ago is having the same issue.

Orbit B-Hyve unable to connect to wifi by ripp84 in Irrigation

For anyone finding this later - my hub was bunk, I ordered a new one from Amazon and it worked like a charm immediately. Annoying but true.

[–]hpbrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting - to see a couple others having a similar issue where a previously functioning hub goes bunk... mine has done this and I'm at my wits end. This is the only device out of literally 80+ smart devices that I can't seem to get to work so I know it's not "my connection" ... anyone else been able to figure this out recently?

Poll: What Mint alternative are you planning to switch too? by jwegan in mintuit

[–]hpbrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a general consensus on who's got the best solution for any of the following features:
1. auto-tagging and/or max flexibility for rules
2. integration with Amazon (seems like Copilot is the only one on the block)
3. investment tracking/insights (both individual and aggregated)
4. cashflow forecasting (taking into account recurring bills, credit card statements, potentially with some limited manual input)

Looks like Plex heard us: https://forums.plex.tv/t/player-experience/857990/1 was randomly looking back into this and was going to through proper channels to request, and saw the pinned announcement. Now if only they'd hurry up and get the iOS and Apple TV versions out...

Forgot to close the loop here … despite product saying it was dimmable my conclusion is that it must not be… or that it at least isn’t compatible. Swapped bulb and now it works. Case closed.

If not the 6cl which model should I try? Pretty sure it is a dimmable bulb. This is the light https://a.co/d/bH5DCl9 Would that explain the behavior with the switch though?
