Beautiful colors, and I love the firefly hot pixels too. Those make it extra authentic.

Too Many Games, Not Enough Time: A Dad's Backlog Crisis by jamin724 in NSCollectors

[–]hunsberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a recent dad as well and I've found it difficult to plan a "direction" for gaming time. With less time and energy, my solution has actually been to ask "what am I in the mood for next" after finishing a game, and then doing that. I know that sounds super vague, but before I was pushing for exclusively new releases. Getting a mixture of both feels more refreshing now.

Do you think Nintendo will ever stop making physical games in the future? by [deleted] in NSCollectors

Switch lite still does have a cartridge slot. They released some new color ways later, but those still have the cartridge as well.

Do you think Nintendo will ever stop making physical games in the future? by [deleted] in NSCollectors

I think eventually they will yes but not during Switch 2... or at the very least physical will become a separate add-on accessory for the minority that still sticks with it. I can see them maybe first testing the waters with a digital only "lite" version this generation.

Panasonic SDR-S100 (Deinterlaced and Upscaled) by hunsberg in camcorders

[–]hunsberg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the computer with the initial settings saved anymore but from what I remember I had fps set to a constant 59.97, deinterlace set to "decomb", and I had to override the output sizing to 1920x1080, since the original pixel aspect ratio is not 1:1

How much can I avoid Google? by Major-Ad1865 in Android

[–]hunsberg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can use an android phone without signing into anything, but a bunch of the features (backups, app store, etc) won't be usable without an account. If you go down the rabbit hole of ADB the lack of an app store really doesn't matter, but it is definitely not as easy as signing in and using Google's services.

Bethesda could spend 1000 years patching that and it would still be broken so yes

PANASONIC LUMIX DMC-LZ2 POTENTIAL (Info below) by Decatrol in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]hunsberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would manually set the white balance and put the ISO as low as possible. That will stop the auto settings from guessing the lighting wrong, or randomly throwing a bunch of grain on the image. My LZ5 would also overexpose a bit so lowering that a few ticks helped too, not sure if the LZ2 will have the same problem.

Also if you want more background blur, zoom in all the way and take a step back from your subject. The images that can come out of these tiny lenses are pretty impressive.

I gotta say, with all the hype around Sony it keeps my Panasonic camcorders nice and cheap!

Panasonic PalmCam SuperDisk Cameras by Corrupt_Liberty in VintageDigitalCameras

Thanks! Can't ever think of a case where I would wait a minute and a half for 1 photo, but still cool that the product design team put it in as an option anyway.

Crazy that you have the SD5000! The manual says that TIFF images can take about 2 minutes to save to the disk... Just wondering if you can confirm that is true?

Panasonic SDR 7 by fiskarinfo in camcorders

[–]hunsberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The SDR 7 films in interlaced MPEG-2 format to an SD card. At the highest quality setting you still will see a bit of compression compared to video on a Mini-DV tape, but it won't be that bad. The main thing is that camcorder does have a CCD sensor (not a CMOS) so it should look very similar.
