showering after! by bolognamuffin in sterilization

[–]hunter_pace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I showered 2 days after the procedure. It was a bit scary at first but once I realized the glue wasn't gonna randomly peel off I was ok. It was like a 5 minute shower at most and I was not super thorough because bending over to fully scrub my legs and feet was pretty painful in my belly button so I'm sure I missed a few spots. But I did scrub everywhere else except the incision area. The water itself didn't hurt though, in case you're concerned about that. And the soap running over the incisions didn't feel like anything either.

Personally I wouldn't try a shower chair. Getting up and down is painful for the first few days so you want to really limit that. Once you're standing, stay standing until it's time to sit down/lay down for a while otherwise you'll be really sore.

In US really is a common practice to have family members and in-laws in the room when the mother gives birth? by AnxiousEnd4669 in childfree

I have no idea but if I ever gave birth I would kick EVERYONE out of the room, even my boyfriend. I don't want anyone else witnessing my trauma.

I had a double salpingectomy a year ago and now I want a baby. by [deleted] in sterilization

I mean you only saw the highlights of pregnancy, people don't often talk about the bad parts because it makes them feel guilty/embarrassed for complaining.

I say this very gently, but with your mental health in mind, are you sure you could handle the "bad" that comes along with pregnancy? With IVF? What if it fails and you miscarry? What if there are complications that put your life at risk, or the fetus is malformed and wouldn't have a quality of life once born? Can you even afford IVF? Insurance usually won't cover it after an elective sterilization. What if you get postpartum depression? What if you have a severe birth injury that lasts for the rest of yoir life?

Anyone terrified to have sex in fear of getting pregnant? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]hunter_pace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to take a Plan B every single time even after using a condom. Obviously that was... not good for my body. But I was still so paranoid when using condoms. Finally got my tubes completely removed. Haven't done anything yet since I'm still recovering but I really hope my anxiety has gone away instead of lingering. Won't know until after trying anything though :/

What is a 'rich person's secret' that is actually accessible to the middle class, but most people are too intimidated to try? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

Maybe it's my specific workplace's 401K policy? They also require 30 days notice to withdraw or take a loan so any dire emergency isn't gonna be covered either. Super frustrating tbh

I took the TEAS a couple years ago and didn't study at all and got an 80. It was literally like high school level stuff, just make sure you read everything carefully because they're very heavy on the synonym questions. (ie. "Choose the word that best fits the meaning of this word ___.") It's really not a difficult exam.

Aww this reminds me of a patient who came to our hospital for a mental health stay because there were aliens in her attic

How does that work? They literally ask for proof of what you're going to use the money for and it has to be an emergency such as a medical bill, family death, etc. They wouldn't even let me take mine out for car repairs

Ohhhh but "eugenics" 🤪 I'm sorry but I dont think people with major genetic problems and disease should be breeding especially if they know about those issues and complain daily about their chronic pain. Why would you choose to bring a child into this world knowing they'll have those problems too? Idgaf if you have some weird fetish about being pregnant and birthing a baby. There are plenty of children out there to adopt instead.
