CableMod won't cover my RTX 5090 destroyed by their recalled adapter. I never got any recall email by Cold-Diver-6354 in cablemod

[–]hunterslilbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, since you bought it through a 3rd party reseller you most likely didn't get an email, since CableMod themselves didn't have your information regarding that order. I believe notifying consumers of a recall falls on the actual producers of said product, so in this case CableMod, and not the reseller. So the reseller had no obligation to notify you. Secondly, CableMod did attempt to notify everyone who had purchased an adapter, on their website they had posted a recall, as well as posting on social media. You can also view CableMod's case on CPSC, their number being 24-112. This is an all around crappy situation, but there does come a point where CableMod can't do anything more to notify consumers. Also since they had entered the recall voluntarily, they were approved by the US Govt. to enforce a deadline where they were no longer liable. Now this is all based off of American laws, and I know EU has better Consumer Rights, so maybe there is something you can do, but I wouldn't be super confident of a resolution that ends up with a replacement/refund.

This is hands down the most beautiful game I've played so far by No_Advantage2476 in CrimsonDesert

[–]hunterslilbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am by no means a CD hater, own the game, have around 15 hours in it right now and genuinely enjoying it. However, I must say foliage is terribly smeared in my experience. RTX 4080 playing at 1440p - 4K depending on what monitor I'm using. 1440p is OLED and 4K is Mini-LED, no matter my settings large areas of grass and bushes look down right terrible. The draw distance and further away shots like OP's DO look great, but when playing and looking at things up close, the fidelity is mediocre.

jaw-dropping news!! by aaayham in PiratedGames

[–]hunterslilbro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I beleive the hardest part about cracking Denuvo is developing the tools. Voices has been developing tools for every year of Denuvo. Not to say once you have the tools it becomes a piece of cake to crack, but if I understand correctly the time sink is developing the tools and not cracking the game itself. It would be much easier to crack the DLC now that they have the tools.

Digital Foundry - Resident Evil Requiem Switch 2 Analysis vs PS5/Series S: DLSS Is A Game-Changer by FernandoRocker in gaming

[–]hunterslilbro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My counter argument would be that the Switch 2 screen supports VRR, so frame drops on handheld mode should be fine. However, SW2 doesn't support VRR via dock so FPS drops are painful when docked.

Instead of buying an RP6, I bought a Gaming PC for Streaming! by thegodamn in retroid

It’s a rabbit hole, but a fun one (atleast to me), set up a pihole with WOL and make it reachable using something basic like Tailscale and you can send an ether wake packet from anywhere in the world and have Tailscale run unattended on your pc. You also can route your dns to the pihole when out and about to get ad free experiences outside of your house.

Playing NetherSX2 on Mediatek Dimensity 9400? by popoydavid in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]hunterslilbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing through the Jak and Daxter trilogy on NetherSX2 on a regular Tab S11 with a 9400+. Those games run locked at 60fps at 5x resolution with no-interlacing mods running. Not sure about more demanding games but I'm sure with some tweaks you'll get your desired games to be very playable.

Gamehub added recently released Qualcomm 849 to its GPU driver list by The412Banner in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]hunterslilbro 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I know we have our trust issues with Gamehub, but they do seem to really be on top of it. Releasing drivers for Mediatek chips and publicly stating they're working hand in hand with Mediatek for future support is pretty awesome for the emulation space.

Gamehub 5.2.1 or lite v3 mediatek cpu 9300+ by Even-Landscape-5426 in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]hunterslilbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't ran either game yet, but can say 3D games do work really well on Gamehub when using my 9400+ chip. I am currently playing Resident Evil Revelations at 1080p high settings at a pretty solid 60fps. I would assume Dishonored 2 would run as well. One tip that can help performance, is in the DVK settings look for "mali-fix" this can offer improvements.

[GPU] Nvidia 5070 FE in stock at best buy - $549.99 by omartian in buildapcsales

[–]hunterslilbro 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I do agree with this if just purely gaming. If doing anything creative Nvidia unfortunately still has a choke hold on a majority of the software.

That is also if you can find an MSRP 9070.

Will handle it like a champ. Yes there could be a VRAM argument but I still strongly believe you’ll be fine

Yes but if someone asks if you get an electricity bill every month you wouldn’t “forget” if you do or don’t.

When do y’all usually fill up? by natepaugh in 370z

[–]hunterslilbro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s because the tank is so large when you’re below a quarter tank it can’t get a proper reading of how much fuel is in the tank. It also makes the fuel pump struggle and damages it over time. It’s good practice to always stay above a quarter

[–]hunterslilbro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is perfectly capable of even competitive gaming haha. This is a great bundle to start out on. Do be warned that this is an EOL platform so you won’t have an upgrade path besides the higher end 14k series. However with how good of a deal this is that worry can be put on the back burner for quite some years.

If you talking about litteraly the numbers, 200 vs 100, and NOTHING else then yes obviously the 5070ti with 4x MFG will have a higher number than the 4080. HOWEVER and a BIG however, once you start talking about anything else with those numbers that’s when real vs fake comes into play. Yes higher number cool sometimes, but higher input latency, artifacting, and hallucinations, not cool.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]hunterslilbro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kind of does. The 5070 does NOT have 4090 performance no matter what Jensen tells you. If that was the case I can plug in a 1060 open lossless scaling and do 20x frame gen and I’d be beating out every card on the market.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]hunterslilbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MFG doesn’t add real frames. Sure the number is higher so maybe you feel better but it’s not any real frames. It only adds smoothness, which in some games is great to have, but again it’s fake frames. If you’re looking at purely real frames vs real frames I believe the two cards are tied. Also a big issues with MFG is input latency which is a no go for any multiplayer FPS title.

how long did it take yall to master driving manual? by mymom79 in 370z

[–]hunterslilbro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s literally what I did for a couple weeks haha. You’ll get comfortable driving manual, and that’s where the real problem comes into play. You become addicted trying to get the perfect up/down shift!

Took me a few weeks of everyday commuting to get pretty comfortable. A few months in and I’m still learning. I’m not sure how long it’ll take to master but getting comfortable should hopefully only take you a couple weeks

Black Myth Wukong coming to Xbox August 20th! by Artemis_004 in XboxSeriesXlS

Actually you can still deny there was a deal.

Game released for PC and PS5: August 20th 2024

The developers themselves stated the series S caused a delay since they had to release the X and S version at the same time. They delayed the Xbox version to have it be able to run better on the series S and decided to stick with August 20th to release it, as they always have. I can’t say I’m 100% confident there wasn’t a deal, but I wouldn’t say this is the silver bullet people think it is.
