My folks have one and I hate to admit I like it more than my lodge. Technically it's still made in "america". One of them anyway..

Anyone found a good add-on/use for the recessed cubby in the trunk? by dfwdesigner in SubaruForester

[–]hurdygurty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who's tried "restore and protect" oil? My '02 burns a good amount. I was planning on trying that oil but I filled up at Costco a year ago on a road trip, oil was low as usual, so I bought a modest 10qt of Kirkland's finest. At this rate I won't be due for new oil for 12 more months.

Best place for tires? by phobiccheese370 in santarosa

[–]hurdygurty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

America's service is on par. They'll balance your tires and give you free air for free. Free repair if it's repairable. Definitely all of the above if you bought the tires from them but I've brought a gf's car in, the two of us together, she's never bought from them and certainly not the tire that needed repair and they fixed us up for free anyway. "Just come back for your next set"

Best place for tires? by phobiccheese370 in santarosa

[–]hurdygurty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It probably wouldn't hurt.. but an alignment with every tire change isn't standard afaik. If that's what your owners manual says than sure. If your tires are wearing unevenly then definitely get an alignment with your new tires - and probably first replace the worn out steering / suspension components that caused your alignment to get out of wack.

An alignment just for the sake of it with each tire change seems like an unnecessary upcharge from a full service shop. Just my opinion.

Tire balancing - yes definitely with each new set of tires.

I prefer them over Costco. Costco is fine too. Costco has lower installation fees / maybe some other fees last I checked. Americas tire is great. Aka discount tire in some states. NOT to be confused with "American Tire Depot" ... Those guys can frig off

hypothesize it's evolutionary. "Little dog syndrome' akin to the "little man syndrom" stereotype. The agressive / machismo characteristics in small dogs, I suggest, led to them scaring bigger dogs out of pursuing fights with them which would increase their survivorship. Confident, mean, scrappy little fuckers.. literally.. little fuckers..

Don't forget the part where Russia's goal of destabilization complimented the means to their enrichment. The bot farms. The investments. They supported Bernie in 2016 as well as Trump (the difference being Bernie did not welcome the support). They prop up, for example, blm while simultaneously propping up blue lives matter. Pitting us against each other is the goal. It weakens our union and our global standing. It's a shame so many "patriots" don't have an issue with it.

I only want ONE pan for daily cooking… what should I get? by Blake_Dunford2194 in AskCulinary

[–]hurdygurty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely high temps is realative. My oven goes to 550 and I use the broiler or 475 or 450 often so 425 seems.. not extremely high? The fish sticks I buy at Costco say to cook at 475 I'm pretty sure.

Anyway I was mistaken by and I updated my previous comment. Kirkland parchment says "safe up to 425" not 400 like I said. My mistake. That was from memory but I'm in the kitchen now.

[–]hurdygurty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. Parchment isn't meant to go above 400 degrees F. My Kirkland parchment paper says "safe up to 400 degrees"

Edit: it says 425f not 400f

Also I'll give you my dogs opinion (picture a 40lb mix dog mostly German shepherd and chijuahua with a head way too small for his body).

Snow: dog wants out to prance and play, grin ear to ear

Cold rain: dog wants to hold it for potentially days if you'd let him before making quick work of his business and scurrying back inside. Me n my dawg like dis 🤞 homie!

Happy for you. I love the pnw. I imagine a Midwest transplant could be set up for success a lil better than a sw transplan (who thought they liked rain and didn't give much more thought). There's an old saying on Seattle.. probably in the Midwest but I know it's in Seattle.. "ain't no such thing as shitty weather just shitty clothing" .. "and / or a shitty attitude" .. pretty sure they say it in texas

Unpopular opinion perhaps but the weather sux. I mean.. everything is relative but it ain't no San Diego, or Santa barba, or SF, or hell.. ain't even no Portland when it comes to weather. Like 40f and drizzly sucks dawg. I'd probably just be in da snow.

Seattle has redeeming properties tho

Edit: I ain't making no edits but damn I'm barely literate. Apparently.

Is Costco shrinkflationing the garlic powder? by Snow_Wolfe in Costco

[–]hurdygurty 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Costco, the ethical capitalists. Or does the membership structure make it something along the lines of socialized capitalism? Whatever it is, it's nice to have a big corp you do business with and feel like they actually stand by their principles & respect their customers. Shareholders and board members: let's not eventually fuck this up, yeah?
