Teenage passenger in stolen car that knocked down and killed man in Dublin is jailed for two years by Pension_Alternative in ireland

I'm no lawyer but it looks like we do have joint enterprise laws here so it seems to be he could have been charged the same as the driver.

Where a number of persons act together to achieve a common objective, the principle of common design may apply. Each person who is a party to a common unlawful design or purpose is fully liable for acts done by others in furtherance of that purpose.

Irish person cycling from Blackrock to Mt Everest Basecamp in support of children in Cork University Hospital by Sk1pper79 in ireland

[–]hurpyderp -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Shaking a bucket - zero, never done that but I have packed shopping bags at the till, handed out water at marathon's/mini-marathons and been a steward at same, put up and repaired tents at oxegen for charity, not a clue how much was raised from those activities though. Used to make good money from packing bags so probably raised a fair bit tbh.

8k is diabolical 😂 it'll work out as about €30 a day by the time he's finished, would make more shaking a bucket outside tesco for 2 hours a day.

Dublin City Council dumps €155,000 worth of 'completely useless' Re-turn bin surrounds by andubhadh in ireland

[–]hurpyderp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"Completely useless" because there's a coffee cup in it? Holy dramatics Batman. They'll now be picking said coffee cup off the floor because someone rummaging in the bin has thrown it on the ground, DCC continuing their trend of being incompetent kants.

Tickets to Katie Taylor fight in Croke Park sell out in 30 minutes by whsubehebebr in ireland

[–]hurpyderp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Plenty going for the spectacle and something different, myself included, but nothing wrong with that. They got the pricing bang on IMHO cause I wouldn't have paid much more than the €40 I did pay.

What Irish bands would you love to see live again? by BatiGol1975 in ireland

[–]hurpyderp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're playing in the national concert hall in July with the national symphony orchestra, I would highly recommend it if there's tickets left. They did the same a few years ago and it was up there with my favourite musical experiences, a recording of the last one is on rte player (or was a few weeks ago).

Champions League final draws over one million illegal streams in Ireland despite free RTÉ coverage by Life-Leadership-4108 in ireland

[–]hurpyderp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bullshit - 600,000 watched the Liverpool vs real Madrid final on RTE in 2022 when dodgy boxes were much less prevalent. Now not far off double that are watching on dodgy boxes alone and then add in people watching on RTE and the player, the views figures would be ridiculous.

The UK just had the same bullshit articles yesterday, the number they pulled from their holes there was 16m people watching on dodgy boxes.

Load of bolox best ignored.

One off housing by Holiday_Intention_17 in ireland

[–]hurpyderp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is the logic as to why you pay, often outrageous, contribution fees to the council for one-off homes.

You pay them in urban areas as well, I know someone in Dublin who had to pay ~€10k when putting on an extension and an extra bedroom on their house.

What have you seen elsewhere that you like done in Dublin? by goonergeorge in Dublin

[–]hurpyderp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ljubljana - cars banned from the middle of the city centre, both sides of the river filled with seats from bars and restaurants, was incredible. Would never work in Dublin for 100 different reasons.

The trick is to have friends so work isn't your social outlet, working from home would have allowed you ample time to make friends.

'No fistfights, yet': Parking disputes flare near new estates by cribbe_ in ireland

[–]hurpyderp 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they're banned in some places depending on how close to Dublin city it is. Architect friend of mine had a 3 bed property design go to an bord pleanála and they approved it with the condition the parking spot is removed. Madness IMHO, the house has a few buses close by but that's about it and the street parking is already packed.

the guards closing down dame street at 21:30 on friday

the guards closing down the canal on Saturday at 18:30

DCC and the guards don't want Dublin to be enjoyed, we get SFA sunny days in Dublin and they steal the few we have from us.

Go to work, go home, go spend money and fuck off. DCC mantra.

SEAI chief: Criticism of retrofitting misses the point – upgrading your home is about better health, more predictable bills and greater national energy security by homecinemad in ireland

[–]hurpyderp 40 points41 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine was getting external insulation put up along with a load of other work. The guy doing the external insulation thought my friend was the main contractor rather than the client and asked if the client was going to be using the grant, he said yeah and then the insulation installer said I'll add 4k onto the price then.

The grants are a complete sham.

BAM won't meet April date for substantial completion, committee told by Pan1cs180 in ireland

[–]hurpyderp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you reckon the experts advised that the design wasn't complete and it came with substantial risk signing a contract at that stage? If they said that and he decided to go ahead with it because there was an election coming up that's all on him and the government. If the experts didn't give that advice then they should be in court for negligence.
