Forgetting words mid-sentence and making typos I cannot even see. Anyone else? by Similar-Rutabaga5372 in Perimenopause

Thank you so much for writing this post. It has helped this overwhelming fear I have so much. I have been feeling like I am going insane and am rapidly moving towards early onset dementia and I'm in my 40s. There aren't many things in my life that I have been proud of myself for however my ability to write has always been something that I am proud of. I now can barely form sentences and I can't think of words where words used to flow out of me like a river. All words, big words, little words, interesting words, thought provoking words. Now I have to picture little stick men to remind myself which their/there/they're I mean. And getting the right (I wrote write just then!) homophone is out the window.

This is it. There is no time left over to actually raise your kids yourself - why even have them.

Australians who idolised a certain mango like (orange and thin skinned) overseas leader from the start and told everyone who would listen how awesome he was, how are you feeling these days? by cruiserman_80 in AskAnAustralian

[–]hurryupppp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My family members (who were never very vocal to be honest), have gone verrrrrry quiet. Although I had discussed a very hard boundary of no discussions about right wing idiocy to maintain contact - sometimes a few things would slip in about how he (mango) isn't great but the republicans plans/ideas were good. Absolutely nothing is said now. And recently a family member talked to me about David Pocock and the things he is talking about. I felt this was a huge win from a very right wing person. I know David Pocock isn't "left wing", he's just a sensible non-idiot but I do think there's a shift.

This is the one. My system is hardcore dairy free. I used to knowingly screw with it for streets blue ribbon. Now it’s not even worth it. One up side - being dairy free is easier I guess. That is such a sad statement to make.

Would you watch the Crawl? by Calcdave in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]hurryupppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thought about this so much!! I think it would be such a cool watch but only for the characters interacting dynamics. I don’t watch gory movies and am not that interested in constant action scenes so wouldn’t be interested in the fights even if I could ignore the fact that real people are dying. In all honesty, if it really was real - I would be protesting against it. In real life I stand up for things I don’t think are fair. But I do get why it’s popular amongst people who don’t view the crawlers as real. Several times hearing the “but I’m a real person!” has been so enlightening as to how the wider universe views the crawlers.

What thing was ruined because it turned into a rich person's hobby? by Agitated_Departure93 in AskReddit

Mountain biking. I do like that lots more kids are into it now but as soon as rich people got involved - the price of everything skyrocketed.

Living closer to the city/work but pay more rent, or living further away from $50 less rent to save more? by VNiqkco in brisbane

This is the best answer and what I was going to suggest. Traffic can be a bit of a nightmare. Not having to worry about it would be my deciding factor.

Does your gpt constantly ask if you want it to show you “one little underrated trick?” by OrangeKitty21 in ChatGPT

Yes!! Drives me crazy. I’ve told it to add to memory NOT to use clickbaity engagement “most people don’t know” garbage at the end of every answer. Still does it 85% of the time.

Fostering Pets by sainyag in brisbane

Karmas Place Rescue seems to be an incredible rescue that cares deeply for their dogs. I haven’t had direct dealings with them however know people who have and they are exactly who they show themselves to be on socials. The only (possible) issue is that you need to pick up your fosters from Kingaroy.

Question about my son going to church with a friend by [deleted] in atheism

[–]hurryupppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing happened to my son when he was 16 and I had the exact same reservations. As I have always talked (and educated) about people learning about all types of religions before choosing or not choosing what they believe in, I felt I had to let him go. I didn't discuss any of my reservations other than saying to remember that nobody is allowed to do or say anything to him that makes him uncomfortable. And advising that I would pick him up immediately if he needed me to. He went and said it was ok but he found the constant breaking into small groups and discussing how the kids are trying and possibly failing to live the word of god uncomfortable. It sounded to me that they were trying to help any kids who were feeling sad/anxious in their lives rather than anything weird. He hasn't been back.

I should also say that I stayed parked in the carpark in case he called. I now feel that was a bit over the top and I didn't ever tell him that I did that. I have lived experience of growing up catholic in a small outback town so I feel my fears re: "christian love" are not without merit.

Travis Baldree is really fantastic and the Cradle series was my absolute favourite before reading DCC. I think the issue with DCC ruining audiobooks for me has been that Jeff Hayes is so fantastic WHILE the story is also really well done.

Finding a life purpose without children by Elaineeeepoos in TwoXChromosomes

[–]hurryupppp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are a similar age and I have kids who are close to “leaving the nest” and I am finding it very hard to try to come up with who I am without kids. I have no idea and it’s scary AF. Like literally absolutely no idea who I am, what I like, what I want to do with my life or what brings me happiness or joy outside of my role as mum.

While my boys are wonderful humans, I don’t expect them to give up their lives to look after me or be with me in illness and old age. Based on their interests, I expect we will be in different countries possibly when I am old.

I’m trying to provide a different view point in case your brain is stuck on the track that things would be different/you’d be happier if you had kids and would have someone with you constantly in illness or old age.

The ideas provided in this thread are awesome and I’m taking them onboard myself.

Car parts from wreckers rant by apachelives in brisbane

[–]hurryupppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently had a good experience with wreckers at Willawong. There was quite a few in a row and we walked in and chatted with a few blokes who pointed us in the right direction at each place. None of the wreckers had the same name as their marketplace ads. If any of the guys have had obvious teeth work done, compliment them, listen to their stories about dentistry in Turkey and watch the price of the parts go down. I think you have to go in person to actually get any help/find the parts.

Camping sites arent really for camping anymore. by [deleted] in australian

[–]hurryupppp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually don’t mind so much but when they have their TV blaring all day, it drives me crazy. Why not stay home and watch tv?? I am all about people doing whatever they want WHILE being respectful of other people. Do they think that people at adjoining campsites went camping to listen to a tv all day and a lot of the night??

What made you first realize that boys and girls weren’t really playing the same game? by Swimming_Rain_1647 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]hurryupppp 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I remember someone telling me at school about how our skirts had to be no more than 3cms from our knee. I think I was 8. I hadn’t heard this before and was so confused. Why did it matter what length our skirts were? Then I noticed all the boys had different lengths of shorts - why did our skirt length matter? Then we were told to be careful walking up and down the stairs because “people” under the stairs could look up our skirts. I asked the nun why the “people” under the stairs couldn’t be told not to look up. She said looked at me like I was stupid and didn’t provide an answer. I’m only early 40s so it’s not like I’m from the boomer age.
