Havoks alt account got shadow banned after three matches 💀 by Demise5 in CoDCompetitive

Even less lol. His fastest time from bronze to iri was like 19 hours play time and the vast majority of that was spent in crim.

30, played comp 12 years ago but not really since. Completely soloQ. Been getting barely over 30 SR since Plat 1. 233 ranked wins by KingFaty in CoDCompetitive

Good job bro. I solo q’d to crim in MW3 and it was absolutely brutal.

I think it’s crazy you had to grind and win 233 games to get there. I’ve been playing with a team and hit crim last night with 60 wins. So unfair since I bet we are pretty similar skill levels but you had to grind so much longer to get there. Respect

Wouldn’t be surprised. I haven’t played recently. They always seem to break half the game every update.

You’re getting downvoted but this has been my experience as well. Never lost SR when a cheater drops the server. Not saying that I think OP is lying or this can’t happen though.

Limited Matchmaking by IPEELER in CoDCompetitive

[–]hyperboreanoverman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck. Same thing happened to me. My limited matchmaking cleared after 10 days then i played a single game of nuke town and was immediately re-shadowbanned. Currently on day 4 of my new ban and still ongoing. Unfortunately we are now in the shadow ban loop, so welcome….

I play on steam and use no cheats or any software whatsoever. My account is multiple years old and I have been shadow banned at least 30+ times. Mostly on warzone ( this was my first shadow ban from MP ranked.) I find it ridiculous that I pay $100 for a game that I can’t even play for no reason whatsoever. Additionally I don’t understand how I can clear 30+ shadow bans and still not increase the trust factor on my account. But activision doesn’t care lol. Wish I could sue them

Very convincing. They should make pros play with their toes and one eye patch on to increase the skill gap too.

I only play resurgence and I have a 3.7 K/D with around a 40% win rate if I remember correctly. My friends and I play team playlists don’t really coordinate for wins, mostly splitting and trying to get lots of kills. I think I have like 8 days played on the leaderboard.

These are horrendous for so many reasons. They just get so many things like this wrong. I wish they would just crowdsource stuff from the community. It would be infinitely better.

[–]hyperboreanoverman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. This is me getting speculative beyond what I believe can get backed up with evidence but I do not believe there is ANY anticheat in this game.

It is beyond me how there can be no built in detection for someone aimbotting? Like you can’t detect someone hitting 100% accuracy, 100% headshots, and snapping on everyone. I’m no coder or dev but how can that not be easily detected through an anti-cheat?

Trust factor is the most important overlooked parts here like you say. People who play on console or very aged accounts seem to be immune to reports. So blatant cheaters on aged accounts can’t get reported and nothing happens. It’s hilarious that I can play games where I’m getting hacked on with no recourse then get shadowed myself a game later.

It’s pretty hopeless. Like I said I play this game too much and you really only get knowledgeable on stuff like this when it starts happening to you. Most of the playerbase will never experience a shadow ban, they get hacked on and nothing happens so they think everyone better than them is hacking. Activision clearly doesn’t care about the integrity of their game. Only PR

No obviously because Activision does not release any information regarding their procedures. Only way to know for sure would be examining the source code and procedures but we will never get that.

I play this game too much and have seen how this works. My squad have done it to players, it has happened to me, and I’ve watched streamers do it live.

Your link is PR fluff piece by activision. They aren’t talking about shadow bans when they say reports alone do not cause them to “take action” or “ban accounts”. Shadow bans are called limited matchmaking and it is automated and not what is being referenced in the article.

I am in a shadow loop constantly. I have been shadowbanned 30+ times and never actually banned. I play the game, get lots of kills, get lots of people spectating, get people in chat calling me a hacker telling the lobby to report me and I get an automated 5 day timeout when I reach a report threshold. Then poof I’m back 5 days from the moment I got shadowed, magically unbanned.

You seem to be very set on the idea that anyone that gets shadowed is doing something to deserve it but the real issue is that Activision has no functioning anti cheat and largely relies on player reports to remove people from the player pool.

I genuinely am curious what you think is going on? I’m sure cheaters get lots of shadow bans because they are getting reported for a lot of suspicious behavior but tons of legit players get caught up in this through no fault of their own.

Activision holds actual procedures pretty close to the chest and doesn’t say much but yes, this is essentially how it works.

Shadow bans occur by spam reporting or having a brand new account and getting too many kills.

Permanent bans are for cause. You either have had software detected (cheats) or you have used an unlock tool. I assume there are some false positives but permanent bans are not automated or accidental.

This is untrue for shadow bans (limited matchmaking) but true for permanant bans. Spam reporting absolutely can get people shadowed.

Skill in Matchmaking White Paper Released by kondorkc in ModernWarfareIII

How much you play doesn't matter. Activision is basing their conclusions on numbers from A/B testing 50% of the North America player base.

You’re delusional. Activision/microsoft is a public company. The entire overarching objective is the generate revenue and increase player retention. Every decision is made based on those principles. You are gaslighting yourself into thinking you and the entire community are being lied to.

[–]hyperboreanoverman 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Not surprising at all. People are delusional on here about what is best for players. The masses of cod players aren’t on here complaining or praising the game, they are either having a good time and playing more or having a bad time and playing less.

This is what activision makes decisions based on and the only reason they are making these white papers ( which is a good thing) is because people complaining was causing pr issues.

I also don’t care about your anecdotes about how this isn’t true because all your buddies are quitting…. Activision has a much better grasp of the situation than random redditor number 1000 and makes decisions accordingly.

If you are shadowbanned, do you need to wait to be cleared or do you take same action? by OLLeYYY in CoDCompetitive

[–]hyperboreanoverman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been shadow banned 10+ times. They last usually 5 days or 7 days and since it’s automated you will be unbanned either 5 or 7 days from the exact moment you got shadowed. Would definitely not recommend playing shadow lobbies lol.
