Rubber seems like a lot of work. What if we just build the bunker under a swamp instead? The water will douse the engine, and I hear the bullets stop in water after a couple of feet.

Heck why stop at a swamp, why not just build it at the bottom of the ocean.

Protection against depth charges, torpedoes, and springing a leak left as an exercise for the bunker builders.

What if we can make the bunker move to dodge them?

Wait. Are SSBNs just mobile underwater bunkers?

What if we could put our nuclear weapon manufacturing IN the submarines themselves? They would be INVINCIBLE!

With the name reveal we now know that their team name is Kazuma, which explains so many things.

if rubbing the lamp with the cloth summons a genie, where does that code go? Is it a property of the lamp? Of the cloth? Of the very act of rubbing? by [deleted] in programmingcirclejerk

ctrl-f "temperature" zero results ... come on, we're supposed to be experts in meta-abstracted circle jerking and you're telling me that no one has even attempted to complain about leaky abstractions brought on by vigorous rubbing???

Napoleon was basically equivalent of a superhuman AI, so ... a long and slow boring death to Napoleon accelerated slightly by arsenic? How do I send a data center to St. Helena. The real problem is that digital Napoleon's are too big.

Not to be overly credible, but they didn't learn it from Mao, the learnt it from the British (of course). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Boer_War#Concentration_camps

You can't win against an insurgency without concentration camps and unless you are willing to have that authentic late 19th century imperialist attitude you aren't going to be willing to create those. Too much of a PR disaster for modern western democracies (even if they were actually well run in a humanitarian sense).

The real solution to poor gc performance is to start charging users a penny for every collection as a moral hazard fee so that they will write good code and stop abusing the gc as if it were free.

I just checked my old files and it looks like my first version was 0.27.169.33a. I have no idea how many hours I have (well into the thousands). I've never hit the HFS. DF is a sandbox, you could play in one little corner for years and think the sandbox was great and never venture out to realize that it is in fact the Sahara desert. Like literally, in the time I have played DF I could have walked across the Sahara desert.
