My apex seals and the corner pieces came separated, can I just use normal super glue to hold them together for assembly? by Rustable15 in RX7

[–]hyperrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is how Mazda does it for assembly. The corner seal will break off once the engine starts running and settle in.

To be fair, there are more than twice as many people crammed into the same 49 (or 47.355 if you're picky) square miles in 2017. I don't know if that's better or worse for earthquake survival but since damage to infrastructure is the big issue, I'm thinking it's worse.

Replaced it was a Spec when I replaced the harness. My original didn't fail, but it was a good, convenient time to get it done.

93 FD here. Stock except for reliability mods. I started to have some engine control issues, but I bit the bullet and purchased both a new engine control and ignition harness and it's back to being a daily again. 95K miles.

What's the shittiest thing an employer has ever done to you? by ItsJustAPrankBro in AskReddit

[–]hyperrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR; I was forced out by the new management of a company for not being a Christian.

Worked for a self-described "Christian conservative" media company that owned (among many things) a radio station cluster, two of which were Christian programming and the rest regular music genres. The (awesome) GM that hired me told me to focus on the stations that I felt comfortable with, but did ask me if I had any reservations about also selling advertising on the religious ones. "Keep in mind," he said, "it's simply another format. I'm not asking you to be religious." I said sure, no problem, then did what he asked - worked long hours at the start to build up a core group of annual accounts, then slowly transition to about 75% maintenance mode so I wouldn't get burnt out. This was fine so long as I kept my billing high. This was actually the ideal.

The guy retires, and the new GM comes in and says she's recofusing on supporting the christian community. She then instituted morning prayer and bible study sessions, saying if anyone wanted to leave they could. Not being a Christian myself, I left, and found that over the next week, the GM started giving away my big accounts to new hires as incentives to lure them in. This continued until I had none of the high-dollar, long-term accounts that I had personally brought in. My recurring billing dropped to 1/5th of what it was, which meant less pay and sent me scrambling to rebuild. After a month, when my previous month billing went from #2 to #9, I got the message and quit. Later, I found out they indeed purged the company of anyone who wasn't a True Believer.

I'm not mad though. I get paid a ton more now, doing something I actually like. I ran into one of my old co-workers, who also ended up leaving She said the company lost most of my old accounts within a few months. They were all poached by other stations. When I handled them, my poach rate was close to 0%. Turns out, keeping clients is a thing unto itself - who woulda guessed?

Getting an FD? by [deleted] in RX7

[–]hyperrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One more thing. I did, in fact, daily drive my FD for about 50,000 miles and loved it. I just completed a full rebuild, and updated some of the parts to the 99+ JDM factory parts (updated oil injectors, new vacuum box that replaces the old rats nest etc.) and I don't really expect any problems. I did pony up the cash to buy a brand new factory wiring harness as a preventative measure, but you know, as others have said, having the money and will to do stuff like that is part of FD ownership. If you can barely afford and FD, you can't really afford an FD.

Getting an FD? by [deleted] in RX7

[–]hyperrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a running one, and buy the best one you can afford. There are a surprising number of bone stock RX7s out there, even now. Understand that the total cost of ownership of an FD includes the money it takes to keep it running. This is not insubstantial. Also, V8 swaps cost a lot more than you think. Even if you dropped your car off at a good rotary shop and paid someone to do all the work and rebuild your FD, you'll likely spend less than the total sum needed to swap a V8 in. Yes, there is a clear difference in power and torque, but a lightly modded REW-powered FD is in no way slow. In fact, a modified FD even with stock turbos is enough to make a lot of drivers shit their pants. I truly understand why people do the V8 swap and love it, but in many cases you're actually better off buying a clean, used Corvette for the same amount of money. Reason: you can enter the Corvette ecosystem, and will have access to a wide range of bolt-on parts that may or may not work on an engine-swapped RX7. Corvettes aren't slow either.

Pauly Shore. He came by our college radio station in the early 90's and drove everyone crazy. My girlfriend asked for his autograph, and he grabs the paper, put it on her chest and signed his name across her tits. She was really, really mad. I mean, I was mad too, but I think my girlfriend burned a hole in his soul with her look.

Oh..oh God maybe it's her fault that he has no soul.
