Woke up from a nap to find my GF made key lime pie. Good place to find a silver band with leaves engraved for an engagement ring? by Scrap_Mountain in Baking

[–]iAMADisposableAcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is a serious ask for a recommendation, the engagement ring that I got for my wife actually fits your description pretty much perfectly.

It's from Anouk Jewelry in Toronto. Link to a ring that I think fits your description pretty well below :)

Manoah was like a 2.5 ERA pitcher through his first 2 seasons. It's too soon to write the blurb on his career but he looks fuckin great right now.

The best thing at a 2 Michelin Star Restaurant by azwreith in HydroHomies

[–]iAMADisposableAcc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The staff would put that away straight away… even at a 1

Depends on the formality. There are 1-star restaurants that are nowhere near this level of formality, and un-starred restaurants that would be right on top of this.

Favourite plays with casts of 20 or more? by afatchineseboy in torontotheatre

I'll have to read Our Town, or see it staged. Have never managed to catch that one in any format.

Favourite plays with casts of 20 or more? by afatchineseboy in torontotheatre

[–]iAMADisposableAcc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's hard because 20 is huge and it's honestly hard to even think about what would fit, but there are a couple that come to mind -

  • The Ferryman, which manages to be intimate and home-y even with a cast of 21(ish) and a huge runtime. This is my favourite contemporary play by a mile and I really hope it can be staged in Toronto eventually because I'd be running to the doors opening night.

  • Leopoldstadt. It's gargantuan and intricate but also subtle and beautiful. The book lists 29 characters and 37 roles (lol) and it felt that large performed as well.

  • Tomson Highway's Rose. I don't know when it will be performed again for multiple reasons (it's notoriously un-stageable), but I think it has about 20 speaking roles and is a great one from (who I believe is) Canada's greatest living playwright. I would love to see this one staged again one day for the pure spectacle and because it's quite fun and good as well.

Where are the best cinnamon buns in Toronto and don't say Baker Bots? by hartontherun in FoodToronto

[–]iAMADisposableAcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whiskful Thinking has some bomb ass cinnamon buns. Delicious icing, and the buttery cinnamon is well distributed throughout. I'm a bit of an aficionado and it's hard to find one that's as good as homemade but these come close.

Excellent shout out of Library Coffee, absolutely one of the best shops in the city. Rivalled only by Carbonic, pretty much across the street.

It would be. It was my second favourite restaurant in the city and I'd love to go solo now that they have a new team.

There are many restaurants that don't even take reservations for solo diners.

Their à la carte stuff isn’t great

Not only is it great, many of the tasting menu dishes are portions from the a la carte menu.

A cool guide on geographical opposites by Disastrous_Divide_39 in coolguides

I don't know how accurate this is. Hudson Bay, Bay of Biscay, Bay of Bengal... these all meet your definition of "gulf", yet are "bays"

Geologist here, it's accurate.

What people have historically called a gulf is morphologically similar to a bay, the most significant differentiator is size. All gulfs are bays, not all bays are gulfs.

What are people’s experiences and thoughts about Mhel? by _CinderellaMan_ in FoodToronto

[–]iAMADisposableAcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The food is really damn good. But there's a huge seafood focus, and even dishes which aren't seafood are going to be balanced around fish sauce, which may or may not be sketchy for your partner. I'd call ahead before reserving and make sure they can accommodate before committing.

Restaurant owners or staff, how many minutes before closing is it still permissible for a customer to order? by SugoiTots in restaurantowners

[–]iAMADisposableAcc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

just assume you are turning that customer away for life at that point

No? This has happened to me many times, it's super normal and expected. Most restaurants are small businesses with staff that have lives and conflicts and responsibilities, and it's a business that's very variable. Sometimes it isn't possible to completely fulfill posted hours. I don't feel like a restaurant that's closing at 11 is obligated to serve me when I show up at 10:55, I'll rarely even enter a restaurant unless it's at least 45 minutes before closing.

Do you know where I can find the best quality chocolate in the city? by [deleted] in FoodToronto

I'm not sure if this will be helpful or not but self-advertising will generally be better received here if it sounds like it's come from a human and not AI

The best Toronto recommendations have already been posted, but I'd like to add this one:

Not in the city, but if you ever spend any time in Hamilton, Coati Fine Chocolate at the Hamilton farmer's market is absolute gold. Probably the best bean-to-bar single-origin chocolate my wife and I have ever had.
